So if I resume the situation, I'm going to have to face a demon that's at least 3 times my size and on top of that he's showing off his muscles. He's wearing a leather armor that barely covers his chest, and he has a scar across his face that makes him look even more menacing.
"Human, I'm nice, I'll go easy on you," he said and the other soldiers cheered.
This has got to be the most pretentious demon I've seen yet. But he had an axe that was bigger than my head, and he looked like he could crush me with one blow. The axe had a long handle and a curved blade, and it was covered with runes and blood. It looked like a weapon of mass destruction.
"It's supposed to be a sword fight, why does he have an axe?" I said, turning to Zephara, who was watching only a few metter away. She was the only one who didn't cheer, but she had a smirk on her lips.
"Hmm, not all demons fight with swords," says Zephara with a petty smile. What kind of lame excuse is that?
I feel like I'm being scammed and anyway I don't think Zephara would let me die as I have to prepare meals for her right? She said she loved my food, and food is life.
I need to concentrate and then the demon said he was going to go easy on me, I'm not afraid of him, or his axe, or his muscles.
"The fight begins now," said Zephara. She snapped her fingers, and a gong sounded. It was the signal for the start of the fight.
Zephara just finished her sentence and the man raised his axe and charged at me, roaring like a beast. He was fast, despite his size, and he was furious, despite his words. He looked like wanted to end this quickly, and he wanted to end this brutally.
Well, it looks like he's really going to kill me. He's not holding back.
I barely had time to react, but I managed to sidestep his swing and slash at his arm. He grunted and swung his axe again, but I ducked and rolled under his legs. I got up and stabbed at his back, but he turned around and blocked my sword with his axe. He was fast and strong, but he was also clumsy and predictable. He relied on brute force and intimidation, but he lacked finesse and strategy.
I decided to use his weaknesses against him. I taunted him and provoked him, making him angry and reckless. I dodged and parried his attacks, making him tired and frustrated. I will wait for him to make a mistake, and then I would strike.
"Come on, is that all you've got?" I said, as I avoided his axe. "You call yourself a captain? You're nothing but a brute."
He growled and swung his axe harder, but I blocked it with my sword. The impact made my arm numb, but I held on to my weapon.
"You're a fool, you don't know who you're messing with," he said, as he pushed me back. "I'm the strongest of Zephara's captains, and I'll make you pay for your insolence."
He raised his axe again, but this time he made a fatal error. He left his chest exposed, and I saw my opportunity. I lunged forward and thrust my sword into his heart. He gasped and dropped his axe, as blood spurted out of his wound. He looked at me with disbelief and pain, and then he fell to the ground, dead.
Damn, I killed a demon again and didn't mean to. I pulled out my sword and wiped it on his clothes. I looked up and saw Zephara staring at me. She looked shocked and furious, and she clenched her fists.
I smiled and raised my sword in the air, feeling a rush of victory and relief. I had won the sword fight, and I had earned my life but maybe it was not a great idea to celebrate like that.
I turned to Zephara with a big smile, this fight was really very easy. I had just defeated her captain. Zephara didn't look at all pleased with my easy victory over her captain.
"Well, it looks like I'm surrounded by incompetents," she said, glaring at all her soldiers, who took fright and started to back away. They had watched the fight from a safe distance, and they knew better than to anger their queen.
"She's going to destroy everything again," said one of the soldiers before moving away from Zephara.
A powerful aura began to surround Zephara and I saw purple flames begin to surround her. She was preparing to unleash her wrath on me and her soldiers. I braced myself for the worst, but then suddenly the aura and flames disappeared and there was a wry smile on Zephara's face.
"I'm changing the rules if you want to live, you'll have to beat me," she said, taking one of the swords that one of the soldiers had left on the ground. She tossed her long white hair over her shoulder and walked towards me with a confident stride. She was the most dangerous and seductive creature I had ever seen.
"I've got to get this thinking out of my head. This woman is dangerous." I whispered to myself but I have to get out of this situation without fighting.
"No, I refuse, the agreement was that if I beat your captain you'd leave me alone and I succeeded." I said, refusing to move from where I was, crossing my arms to show my displeasure.
What's all this courage I've got, I'm going to be killed by Zephara if it goes on like this but I clearly don't want to face her, she could kill me only with her sword.
"You will obey my orders, little human," she said, moving closer to me and pointing the sword at my neck.
I felt the cold metal touch my skin and I stepped back a few centimetres. She smiled wickedly and moved the sword to my chest, pressing it against my heart. I have to find something fast.
"The demon queen doesn't keep her promises," I said with a smirk and Zephara frowned, looking like she was about to explode in anger. I had hit a nerve, and I hoped to provoke her into making a mistake.
"All right, I'll let you live," she said, throwing her sword to the ground before starting to walk away from me.
It was easy to convice her, I was surprised by her sudden change of mind, but I didn't question it. I was relieved that she had spared me, but I also felt a pang of curiosity. Why did she let me go? What did she want from me?
"Look, the queen left the human alive," said one of the soldiers, concealing a laugh, and the other soldiers were about to laugh too.
"Go back to your training, you bunch of sissies!" Zephara shouted at her soldiers in a threatening voice. She snapped her fingers and the soldiers ran back to their training grounds, where they resumed their drills and exercises. They looked terrified of Zephara, and they avoided eye contact with me.
"Little human, follow me" she said and I hurried to follow her, even though I'd managed to escape death I'd have to be more careful. I joined her and she looked much colder than yesterday, now she seemed distant and aloof. She walked ahead of me, not bothering to look back or talk to me.
"Make me breakfast" was all she said before we headed for the kitchen. She didn't say please or thank you, she just expected me to obey her. She sat down at a table and waited for me to serve her.
