I held still as Zephara untied my robe. Zephara slid it off my shoulders and allowed the material to fall to the floor. I stood proud, feeling confident as Zephara took me in. It was romantic that Zephara would have a special room for us to claim each other.
I understood this was a big deal for demons. It was like a wedding between two people, only there would be no witnesses.
"Fate has willed the two of us together," Zephara whispered.
She reached over to the table and picked up a small dagger I hadn't realized sat next to the old phone. I held my breath watching Zephara lift the knife and prick her finger. A large drop of blood formed on the tip. She pressed the finger to my forehead.
"We shall thank the fates for the bond that has formed between us."
I shivered. The warmth of Zephara's blood seeped through my skin. My heart raced, but there was no fear inside me. I trusted Zephara completely.
