In JSS3, something terrible happened. A boy named Williams in Emmie's class was caught having sex with a junior class one student in the toilet. The news spread round the whole school.
The next day, Williams was called to the assembly ground by Mr Bryan, the dean. Williams was lashed 24 strokes of the cane. He cried out. "This is a great lesson for all other students", the dean said in anger. Willi as other students calls him was given a suspension letter for three weeks and at the end of the suspension, he would serve severe punishment for another three weeks. As for the girl, she was flogged and punished for two weeks.
Mr Bryan warned all the students and also urged them to report any forbidden act to the teachers or himself.
This incident made Emmie more security conscious of her whereabouts and also her friends.
Emmie's house was not far from Lora's house, so they both follow the same path home. During the holidays and weekends, Emmie visits Lora and Lora does the same.
