Chereads / Hi, Stranger / Chapter 5 - Chapter 4: Jenny

Chapter 5 - Chapter 4: Jenny

I woke up and saw August. He knocked on the door and said, "Here is some chicken soup." I nodded and said, "Thanks, I shouldn't have pressed you on kissing Harmony's sister, I'm sorry." He said, "I forgive you, Harmony asked me out so I have a date, you have to go to Dad's office today, right, I'll drop you off."

I hugged him and said, "Thanks." He said, "Can't keep Adam Stranger from his finance advisor." I laughed and said, "You convince Mom to get me out of confinement." He nodded.

When we got in the car, August dropped me off and said, "Bye, Jenny." I laughed and said, "See you." When I got in, I saw this brunette woman with glasses and she saw me and said, "Oh my gosh, Ms Stranger, glad to see you back, I need you to meet the chairman." I went up to see the chairman, my father when I got stopped by this person.

It was this guy and he said, "I'm sorry, but this is for the chairman only but unless you got an appointment, don't bother coming." I kept my cool, people were always like this. I said, "I'm sorry, but the chairman needs these files immediately, actually, his whole team needs these files, so unless you can contact me to a person on the board, I'll literally force my way in."

The guy said, "We got a code red." An old woman came up and asked, "Oh, who is this?" I said, "My name's Jenifer Calypso Stranger from the marketing department, I need to speak to Mr Stranger about the sales, it's urgent." The old woman said, "Oh you're the chairman's dumb brat, well, I'm sorry but I may ask you to leave, and don't try your nepotism thing on me, it ain't working, I'm your father's newly promoted secretary and he trusts me more than you so unless you want to be sacked, please go back to your office."

I said, "Okay." I went back and my blonde-haired colleague, Dylan and brunette friend, Amanda asked, "What did the chairman say?"

I asked sarcastically, "Why did no one tell me that the chairman got a new secretary?" Dylan looked skittish and Amanda asked in a dismissive tone, "Oh, you mean Rita, she's filling in for Ryan, he got bronchitis, just because she's working in his place, she thinks that she can make our lives all have a living hell."

Dylan said, "Oh gosh, she's has been making our lives a living hell, I hope Ryan cures up his throat because she's been telling us the chairman wants us to work overtime, you're lucky you weren't in for the past few days, at least you did your share."

I nodded and then was going to my office when I saw the old lady come in. She said, "I see you two slacking, get back to work and don't let me catch you slacking, as for you blondie girl, go get me a coffee, I want a iced caramel macchiato, with two pumps of vanilla, two pumps of milk and two shots of espresso and steeped to 90 degrees Celsius and please get it from the café down the street and by the brunette boy barista, tall one, I only trust him to not mess up my coffee."

I then nodded and ran to get the coffee. I knew the café place, I always went there to find Fay. I saw her and said, "Hi, I need the tall brunette barista." Fay grimaced and said, "Jimmy, that stupid woman wants her darn coffee." I saw James and he pinched her cheek and said, "Just because I have a photographic memory and do not flip off that woman does not mean you can put me here."

He then saw me and said, "Hi." I said, "I need an iced caramel macchiato with two pumps of vanilla, two pumps of milk, two shots of espresso and steeped to 90 degrees Celsius."

He groaned and said, "Look, I'm not trying to be rude here but this isn't a Starbucks and I really don't want to do that crazy woman's order at nine in the morning just be cause she thinks that this a Starbucks and she can order whatever the hell she wants, there is a menu for a reason."

I laughed and said, "Glad to know that at least there are more people who hate her." Fay smirked and said, "Yeah anyway, Jimmy, go do the coffee and Jenny, you know what to do with the wifi." I then called Ryan. I prayed that Ryan picks up. Ryan said hoarsely, "Jenny, it's like 9 in the morning, what do you want?" I said, "Hi, sorry to wake you up when you are sick but I need you to come to the office."

Ryan said, "If it's about Rita, I don't want to hear it, unless she's finally gone insane and not let you into that meeting with your dad." I said, "She did." Ryan then said, "That bitch! She 's only supposed to do the paperwork, I don't care if she makes you all work but she makes you miss a very important meeting, I mean, does your dad know? Course he doesn't, he was on vacation."

I asked, "What should I do?" He said, "Go back and do you work, I'll handle it." I nodded and James said, "Here's the coffee, um, what happened yesterday?" I said angrily, "I don't want to talk about it." He asked, "You from the UK?" I said, "Well, yeah, born in Britain, moved to America to expand business." He said, "Always thought you were from America with your So-Cal attitude."

I was getting irritated and asked, pissed off by his attitude, "Can you please shut up? It's people like you that make me do what I do, I am thankful you saved from getting arrested but I am not going to excuse you for profiling me." I then walked off.

When I got back, the woman said, "You finally got back, you dumb blonde." I said, "Sorry." She drank the coffee and spit out and said, "What shit is this, you're f-." A male voice said, "Fired, no Rita, you're fired. " I looked up and it was my father. He said, "From now till then, you are laid off, Ms Ritcher, get out."

She was then taken out by the people from security, my father sighed and said, "Team, I am so sorry that she put you on overtime, how about I treat you all for a bar, Ms Stranger, you get the evening off." I nodded. I do not take it offence, I cannot relapse again and after what happened yesterday, I do not trust myself.

After work, I went out and bumped into James. He asked, "You going home?" I said, "Yeah." He said, "Get in my car, I want to apologise for just now, I should 't have said that."

I said, "Yeah, okay, I'll go, you're not a stranger, you're my friend's best friend, so yeah." We then wen to his car.
