Chapter 11 - Preparing Medication, The Cannibal Kind

Noah, wearing sunglasses and swim trunks, lay leisurely on a lounge chair, casually biting into a steak and sipping red wine. The aroma of meat mixed with the fragrance of wine spread on his taste buds.

The steak, brought by himself, was carefully pan-fried by Xue Qingyu on an electric stove. Two girls played in the swimming pool, their sexy swimsuits outlining provocative figures, dazzling to onlookers. Noah couldn't help but sigh, thinking, "This is how life should be."

"Noah, come down and play with us, teehee..." Liu Xiaoyu waved at Noah non-stop, a nameless white balloon tumbling up and down. Noah grinned, subconsciously checked his gun, and walked over to the pool, then dove in with a leap.

"I'm jumping..."

He executed a 900-degree spin, entering the water in a "Philippine bomb" dive, splashing water everywhere, which made the two girls giggle. The pool was filled with laughter and the invisible youth hormones...

After playing for a while, they satisfiedly returned to the villa. Before leaving, Noah drained the two large pools and replaced them with fresh water, knowing the whole city's water and electricity would soon be cut off. Electricity was a minor issue, but water had to be stocked up in advance. Fortunately, the two large indoor pools evaporated slowly and were not easily contaminated, enough to last the three of them for a long time.

Upon returning to the villa, Noah didn't rest. Instead, he took Liu Xiaoyu out of the neighborhood, leaving Xue Qingyu to watch the house. With her, an S-class mutant, ordinary people couldn't even breach their stronghold.

Though exhausted, it wasn't time to rest yet. It was the second day of the apocalypse, and the situation was still 'safe' with low-level evolved zombies. Most people hadn't snapped out of it yet, not rushing out for supplies but hiding in relatively safe places, hoping for a rescue that would never come. If a few more days passed and everyone realized the situation, that would truly be the start of an era of chaos.

Zombies roamed freely and bandits were rampant; wherever there were supplies, there would be conflict. Going out meant not only guarding against zombie invasions but also being wary of other survivors, sometimes who could be more terrifying than the zombies themselves.

The stronger the survivor, the more dangerous they were. Seizing the moment, Noah planned to search for and stockpile as much medication as possible, especially antibiotics. After the apocalypse, pharmaceutical factories ceased operation entirely, cutting off the supply of medicines which wouldn't be produced anymore. What was used up was gone for good.

Living conditions in the apocalypse were extremely harsh; injuries were common, and countless infections and inflammations from wounds led to fevers and colds, which if not survived, meant death.

Therefore, medication became incredibly precious, even more so than high-end food and drink. The two found a motorcycle at a bike shop to use as transportation and headed towards the city center. They avoided zombies along the way whenever possible, and when unavoidable, Noah would use his control over metal objects to dispatch them. In a city of steel and concrete, metal was abundant.

After speeding for a while, they arrived at a pharmacy, where Liu Xiaoyu effortlessly killed two attacking zombies. Noah went straight to the shelves for a "zero-cost shopping spree." They stripped off all unnecessary packaging, sorting each type of medication into separate bags. In no time, they had gathered over twenty bags of medicines. They found two large hemp sacks to pack everything into, making for a full haul.

But Noah couldn't feel happy about it. It was too little, far too little. They hadn't even managed to clear half of the counter, not to mention the pharmacy's storage room. His heart ached as he thought of the valuable items they had to leave behind. Noah decided to have Liu Xiaoyu bring out all the medicines from the storage room while he rushed out to the street in search of a truck.

Not far away, they saw a double-axle big rig parked by the roadside, surrounded by dozens of zombies wandering around it.

"Why does it look so familiar..."

Upon closer inspection, it was indeed the same truck from yesterday.

"...Well, talk about fate."

However, there was no one on the truck now. Presumably, the people from yesterday either escaped or were devoured by the zombies. Noah recognized one of the zombies as being from the group they encountered the day before.

Noah roughly counted about forty zombies around the truck, not including others roaming the streets, totaling at least a hundred. With his current strength, he could eliminate them all, but it would be time-consuming and physically draining.

After surveying the surroundings, Noah quietly moved to the third floor of a nearby shop, overlooking the horde. With electricity surging in his hand, he controlled a metal table, throwing it about several meters in front of the truck.

The table landed with a dull thud, instantly drawing the horde towards it. Noah took the opportunity to move to a window ledge, climbing onto a neighboring balcony, and then controlled another table, hurling it even further away.

With his control over electricity extending to about two hundred meters, he had to use this tedious method to gradually lure the zombies away without letting them notice his presence, which would complicate matters.

Over time, Noah continuously changed his position, manipulating metal objects to gradually draw the horde away until he led them to a corner street. Only then did he quietly make his way to the truck.

First, he checked the driver's seat and found everything intact, with the fuel tank still holding enough gas for about two hundred miles, except for a shattered windshield. Then, jumping down to open the cargo area, a foul stench immediately hit him. The weather was already hot, and the truck had been in the sun all morning. The bodies of over a hundred corpses in the enclosed space had started to rot, creating an indescribably sour and pungent smell.

Fortunately, Noah was a man who had seen his fair share of turmoil; he had dealt with rotting flesh and corpses in his past life, so this scene was nothing to him. He entered the cargo area, kicking and dragging, throwing all the bodies out.

Just as he finished disposing of all the bodies, a piercing chewing noise came from outside. Noah paused, stopping all movement, and carefully approached the cargo door. Pressing his back against the side of the truck, he turned his head towards the source of the chewing sound.

There, at the edge of the pile of bodies, was a naked, pale-skinned humanoid creature, crouching on the ground, gnawing on a corpse, with the sound of chewing echoing repeatedly. A line of text appeared above its head:

[Zombie: Cannibal Kind LV4]

Noah couldn't help but twitch at the corner of his mouth. Encountering a Level 4 special evolved type on the second day of the apocalypse was quite the stroke of bad luck. These Cannibal Kinds were a type of specially evolved zombies that gained rapid evolution by consuming flesh. Their evolution was incredibly fast, capable of advancing from Level 3 to Level 6 in just a couple of days.

These zombies were highly aggressive and voracious, targeting animals, humans, and even their kind for consumption. They could move extraordinarily fast, even scaling walls rapidly, with top-notch hearing and vision. They could attack from bizarre angles, using their claws and sharp teeth as weapons. Among the zombie hierarchy, Cannibal Kinds were considered quite formidable.

If there was a downside, it was their poor defense, even weaker than a Level 2 hardened type, and they lacked ranged attack capabilities.

Noah then controlled a piece of scrap metal from the roadside, slowly levitating it. As it approached directly above the Cannibal Kind, he suddenly propelled it downwards with force.
