Chapter 4 - I need to escape

Chapter 4: I need to escape

The room became silent for a few seconds before the whole room started to chant some incorrigible words. The seven custodians surrounded the body and started humming in low voices. Their mouths were moving, but it was only the low hums I was hearing.

Their hands moved fast as they stroked the bhuddist prayer beads in their hands. Then they all stopped chanting. It was abrupt but uniform.

They created a space for me to clearly see the bloodied corpse on the ground. Then Akira Violet gestured for me to move closer.

"Repeat after me!" The woman ordered.

" I Priestess Diana of the Moon Palace"

"Beseech thee, the moon goddess"

"To grant Aviola Violet, the previous high priestess of the werewolf race"

"Eternal Peace and a special place in your Bossom"

"To better serve the moon goddess."

I followed every one of her commands with care, as if my life depended on it. Regardless of the streams of sweaks that are trickling down my face.

"Now touch her with your staff."

I did as I was told. And to my surprise, the whole place lit up with a strange light. The corpse of Aviola Violet was covered in a brilliant white light as her body began to dissolve into particles of light.

Then the dispersed particles came together, to form the figure of a very beautiful woman. The woman smiled gently at me, then bowed deeply before me. Her figure then starts to disperse as they were being sucked by a gold portal that came out of nowhere.

The portal closed and everything returned to normal.

"All hail the moon goddess!!!" The whole congregation shouted in unison.

"Let's leave you youngsters to your things" Akira said, before leaving the room with the other custodians.

"Priestess Diana!"

I was about to get out of the room when I heard someone call my name from behind.

"Can you please wait for the ritual to be completed before leaving?" Mike said. His voice carried hints of nervousness and his mouth moved a few times as if he was hesitant to say something.

"What do you need from me?" I asked directly.

"I-I I need to know more about my mate. What does she look like? Which clan is she from? Can you please consult the moon goddess one more time? I need to know more about her." Mike said, as he walked me back to my seat.

"The moon goddess will give you a sign. Sometimes, it's better not to know too much about the future," I Said, "by the way, why are you so anxious in choosing a mate?"

"My father is the current clan head; the Alpha of our silver moon tribe, and he's about to choose an heir to the throne…" Mike was trying to bore me with some superstore about their clan, but I immediately cut him off.

"Get to the point… what does that have to do with you getting married?

"A genius would be chosen from each family in the tribe, and they will all compete for the position… sorry… if I don't get married before the date of the last test, the position will fall into the hands of my cousin, Ayomide." Mike was about continuing his tale when he saw my fiery gaze, so he quickly skipped to the last and most important part.

"When is the competition going to happen?" I asked.

"Less than a year"

I felt pity for him, 'cause he might not find what he is searching for.

"Do you think it's right to just get married to anyone the moon goddess chooses for you, without even getting to know her personally? You don't know what she likes or hates. You'll just marry her without knowing her personality? What if she's a psychopath?" I was irritated by the way he spoke of finding a wife, as if they were vegetables you could just pick up on the streets.

"It's part of our culture, and we must always follow tradition."

"Fuck your traditions! Is courtship a joke to you?!" I don't know when I shouted, effortlessly attracting the attention of over a hundred people in this gathering.

All thanks to the person who shouted next, their attention was shifted to that person.

"The full moon is here!!" Someone shouted with glee as he checked his body, which was glowing with silver light.

"It's the moon's blessing!!!" another man exclaimed.

I looked round the room and saw everyone of the cult member surrounded by lightts of different colour. All, except for one person… Mike whitewolf. He was spotting a red light.

'The fool sure is different ' I muttered.

Suddenly, I felt everyone's burning gaze on me. I then checked myself with my phone's camera to see if there's something wrong with my face.

Lo and behold, I was glowing red all over.

Mr Mike is not alone, I'm the second weirdo in the room.

"What the hell is happening to me? What type of sorcery is this?" I asked no one in particular.

I quickly ran out of the hall and I quickly escaped to my house.

12:00 am

As I was rushing home from the 'cult meeting ' I heard a series of howling sounds coming from the event center. I quickly took to my heels as I rushed through the neighborhood.

Shots of "ghost!", "Blood of Jesus", and a series of speaking in tongues rang out in my ears as I ran for my dear life.

Luckily for me, the ghostly light on my body had dimmed a lot by the time I reached the second street. I was back to normal when I reached my street.

I silently sneaked inside the house in order not to alert the neighbors. Then I took off my cloak and shoved it in the deepest part of my closet.

Not long after, I heard a banging sound on my door.

"Diana! Come out quick!" It was my landlady's voice.

"The evil spirits are here again."

Then I went out, to a lot of people on the streets, with cross, daggers and different kinds of weapons in hand.

"What's happening?" I asked.

"We saw a ghost come this way from the second street, and it came this way. So everyone, one of us must be awake this night, to prevent ghost possession." A bulky man wearing a dozen cross chains on his neck answered the crowd, with fear evident in his eyes.

"Ghosts are not real," I turned to the man with a smile on my pretty face.

"I saw it with my two eyes." The man argued.

So this is the fool who shouted "blood of Jesus".

We all stayed outside throughout the night.

The next day…

A rare picture of me running through the streets surfaced online and I was given a series of new nicknames by the netizens.

"The glowing ghost"

"The red riding hood"

"Miss Red Ghost"

All thanks to my hooded cloak, my face was not revealed in any of those pictures.

***Mike's POV***

Dear diary…

I met a powerful priestess today… the best day of my entire life. It seems like she came from a hermit wolf clan as she doesn't seem to understand most of our rituals.

She has blended into the human world up to the point that you wouldn't notice any wolf aura on her. The staff she was wielding is a powerful artifact of the legendary class.

"... This is my first time coming in contact with anything supernatural. It's my first time seeing someone being raised from the Dead, albeit it being for a short time. Please, I'm not the chosen one."

I know she doesn't want us to disturb her human life with these spiritual things when she says those words.

So I notified the custodians of her tricks and gave them the right way to counter her, since she doesn't know the rules of the werewolf clans that much.

This powerful priestess must help us tide through this difficult times, else the werewolf clan will cease to exist.

With a touch of her staff, the corpse of the previous high priestess turned into a soul manifestation… a rare opportunity for her to ascend.

We even gained the blessings of the moon goddess today, all thanks to the powerful staff she was wielding. And she happened to be my destined mate. Can you believe that?

She rushed out of the place and immediately noticed that I was her chosen mate. Maybe I'm not good for her, or she doesn't want to turn in the presence of everyone. Her wolf might not be as good-looking as she is.

I have finally found a goal in life… I'll search for her, and make her mine.
