Chereads / The Forger / Chapter 2 - Time to forge.

Chapter 2 - Time to forge.

The days pass by, mostly spent taking in the spectacle of this new world.

Everything here looked like something you would consider rare or exotic in my previous life it was.. breath taking.

Wondering in the forest with trees that almost seemed alive became an everyday thing.

Some of the trees where large, and I mean larger than a house.

'Reminds me of the Giant sequoia trees' I thought in silence.

The uneven sound of birds, Cicadas and crickets roaming around this hill side, 'truly gorgeous'

'Maybe I should have travelled back then' although I said this now, I new it was just the thoughts of someone who died.

This was because back home I was a socialy awkward person who rarely went outside event my iron and supplies were delivered to my door step by my older brother.

'He just didn't want me being a burden, hehe'

Me and my brother were not close but we could still stand eachother.

"Sigh."

Heading back home I notice a bunch of teens on the front of my hut.

There loud chatting could be heard from a distance.

Soon they noticed me getting close. The oldest kid stood up.

I have to mention that in our small hunting club I was the oldest. Missel was the second eldest and together we acted as leaders and teachers.

This was because the rest of the kids where around 13 to 15, with the total being 9 hunters.

Of course we where not the main hunting party of the village. We where just fun seeking kids with nothing to do or doing this as a way of making a living.

"Hey Jac we heard you where quitting the hunting party, what happened?" Missel asked with a sad tone.

"Yeah, I heard you are going to be the blacksmith or something." A young looking kid says.

If I remember correctly he was the new guy to the party. As for his name, I didn't remember.

"So that's what the new hut is for"

The bakers kid blurts out. "Sounds like a dirty job to me."

'he really is annoying.'

"Did my dad say something to you?" Missel asked looking worried.

Missels dad was the chief of the village. And from his description he was a stern man.

And you could say Missel was rebelling. Back then Missel would complain about how his dad would compare and undermine him to his other sons.

Too put it simple Missel was stupid, even now this idiot had a hard time reading and because of this he was looked down upon by his family.

His two youngest where smarter and sharper than him. But what he lacked in brain cells he made up in muscle fibres.

Not only was he amazingly strong for his age he was also very... Very accurate in his aim and not wth just the bow but almost everything.

Sadly his dad wanted a scholar not a warrior.

And so started his rebellion.

.....

Back to the topic at hand.

"No it has nothing to do with your dad, his actually helping me out."

Missel's dad was the one funding most of this so if anything his helping.

"Then why?" He said.

"I guess am just tired of all this." I said with a shrug.

"You want to settle down or something?" The bakers kid said.

"Yeah. I guess you could call it that."

"Ha" with an exaggerated laugh the bakers kid said. (Am not going to name most of this characters sorry.)

"Aren't you a little too young for that?"

"No, no am not." With a grin I replied.

'I always want to say that.'

After that the conversation switched to more teen things like Mary's large milkers and such. The day was coming to a close, and so the gang split up. The farmer's boy's who lived on the outskirts of village where the first to go, and slowly everyone disappeared and only I was left.

The day spent chatting and laughing was over. I picked up the basket filled with dried pork and rabbit planning to eat the remains as supper.

Luckily this idiot wasn't that much of an idiot, which was kind of a given considering he lived for 7 years alone and did not dead.

The house had a few baskets filled with smoked pork and rabbits.

Getting onto the Hay bed, I slowly chewed on the stringy pork. The sun was the only source of light in this place so the moment it went down, so did I.

In the dark again I stared at the large neon display once again.

My face was filled with nothing but sorrow. Almost a week and I had only gotten one point to my stats, and that was my first and painfully last?

'fuck...'

The timer began again and I was out.

Morning came again but... my mood was down. Picking my self up I walked outside grabbing my make shift tooth brush and some ashes and done.

Doing a quick face wash, I slowly left the forest and towards the village I went.

On my way to the orphanage I saw the nun giving instructions to a bunch of villagers.

"Careful, don't drop it." She said her hands tightly grasped together. "Aah, Jac you are late we needed extra hands long ago."

"Sorry lost track of the sun." My mood was obviously down.

"What's wrong?"

It's nothing." I said giving a fake smile. I obviously couldn't say, my goldfinger isn't working.

What the hell am I even doing, I should just get on with my life. Why am I so worried about something I can't even change or control.

Anyways let's get inside." She said grabbing my hand and pulling me in the slightly large hut.

The insider was what you would expect from any smith... Cramped.

The roof was low, around 6.5 or 7feet.

A large stone table was in the middle of the room.

At the back was a large opening, the furnace.

It was made from some type of unknown rock with a mixture of some kind of mud.

"What do you think?"

"It's something, but why is the furnace outside?"

"Don't worry, we will fix that before the rain season."

"We? Last I checked am the one paying for all this." A middle aged man said walking in.

He was quite tall.

"Chief." The nun said looking at the above average looking man.

"Last I checked am the one who called the in the favours." She said with a smile.

"Are you sure about this?"

"You want your town? You have to invest first."

With a grant the man simply gave a side eye before walking out.

"Don't worry about him." She said with reassuring smile.

"So why don't you show me what you can do." She walks towards the furnace urging me to follow.
