San Moreno, Courthouse
In a courtroom filled with many people, mostly old folks in shabby clothing sat there with aggrieved expeessions and teary eyes. A Prosecutor stood in front of the judge presenting his case
"Your Honor, it clearly evident that Lancaster Mining Group was responsible for the death of the eleven villagers who were poisoned by drinking the contaminated water. Those in charged, approved to have their chemical waste deposited into the surrounding water bodies without a care for the safety of those poor villagers who depends on those waters for their survival. I say they're callous and show complete disregard for human lives'
"Objection, it still hasn't been proven that Lancaster Mining Group was responsible for the mishaps. You can't talk indiscriminately" the Defendant attorney Jorge sharply interrupted the State Prosecutor Jim's speech.
The preciding judge cautioned the State Prosecutor to watch his words and not make assumptions. Prosecutor Jim glared angrily at his opponent who's expression was cold and haughty.
"Your Honor, it that's obvious for everyone in this courtroom that the State Prosecutor has no concrete evidence to pin the blame on Lancaster Mining Group. He's just wasting our time and his actions are affecting my client's business image and prestige".Attorney Jorge declared.
The judge nodded agreeably, seemingly having decided on the final outcome of the three months long trial. Seeing this outcome, Attorney Jorge glanced at Prosecutor Jim with a haughty and mocking smirk, causing the latter to be so infuriated that he clenched his hands tightly, suppressingthe impulse to smack that smugness off his face.
In his fifteen years of practicing law, he has sworn to dedicate his time trying to bring down the malignant tumor known as the Lancaster empire plaguing society but the opponent is just too powerful. No matter how hard he worked and how much he tried, they always manage to get away with their crimes.
"On account of lack of evidence, this judge finds...."
"Your Honor, l have a witness" Just before the judge could pass his judgment, Prosecutor Jim gritted his teeth and shouted.
Attorney Jorge was first startled by his words and turned to look at him but seeing his desperate expression as though he was a drowning person holding onto a straw for survival. It's futile.
He sneered and snickered, "It seems like the State Prosecutor is determined to get us the guilty sentence. Do you think we have time to be playing needlessly with you?"
Ignoring him, State Prosecutor Jim faced the judge and pleaded for him to give him another chance to present a witness that will testify against the opposition.
"And what's the identity of your witness?" The judge adjusted his glasses and asked.
"Your Honor, it's the General manager of Lancaster Mining Group "He uttered, his eyes cold.
Attorney Jorge's eyes widened in shock, momentarily losing his composure but he quickly revert back to his cold demeanor. Turning back to face him, StateProsecutorJim said, "I'm sure Attorney Jorge knows who this man is, right and the vital role his plays at Lancaster Mining. He works directly under your wife, Attorney Jorge.
Attorney Jorge didn't answer. He could only glare at him hatefully. At the end, the judge agreed for the State Prosecutor to present his evidence on the final trial.
Attorney Jorge walked over to State Prosecutor Jim's side with a taunting gaze, he spoke, " You're not going to win this case and it'll be like all the other dirt you dig up. Nothing but trash. A little advice to you as a colleague is for you to get off your high horse or you'll end being a loser with no achievements".
Prosecutor Jim laughed as if he has heard a funny joke. "It's you who need to be getting worried now because once you're no longer of value to that future family, you'll be casted aside. You're not a son-in-law of the Lancaster family but their dog that eat their sh*t and wipe away their mess. You're nothing more than a pitiful nobody" His ruthless words made Attorney Jorge's face to turn red with anger.
Satisfied,Prosecutor Jim walker in away with a cold smile. Attorney jorge glared daggers at his retrieving back, his eyes red and teeth clenched tightly. He detest being called the lapdog of the Lancaster family. He was the son-in-law.
Once they walked out of the courtroom, they were surrounded by the media asking about updates on the case. Prosecutor Jim managed to get away from the crowd with his colleagues, only to be intercepted by the families of the deceased villagers.
They cried and thanked him for trying his best to fight for them. Alone with his team,Prosecutor Jim with a serious experience asked his team, "Have you guys heard anything from that person yet. Has he discovered that man's hideout yet?"
"Sir, he called to let me know that he'll bring that man over here safely." One of the men replied. Upon hearing this, Prosecutor Jim sighed deeply, clearly troubled by many things.
Meanwhile, at a high end office building, two people, a man and woman stood at the door, quivering with fear as they stared at the extremely beautiful woman clad in a class office suit. Her long, lush and jet black hair was styled in wavy curls, has delicate and attractive facial features and wore a fiery red lipstick.
She was sitting down at a table and reading something on a laptop. The more she read, the more furious she became.
"I can't believe this. Why didn't they all just rot in hell" She screamed, angrily hurling the laptop and throwing it across the room. It headed straight at the two assistants and fell short of hitting them in the face. It fell on the floor in front of them and shattered into many pieces. Despite trembling with dread, the female assistant still opened her moth to speak,"Madam Lily, please calm down. We can...."
"Calm down?" Lily scrowed.
Grabbing the glass of water, she threw it at the assistant and it hit her straight I'm the face, she felt dizzy by the impact but she didn't dare cry out. She and the male assistant mquickly kneeled down on the floor pleading profusely for mercy, not caring that the corner of her forehead was bleeding from the glass cut. However, Lily seemed obvious to their plight
"Calm down? How can l come down when I've lost 800 million dollars . They're all waiting for me to fail so they can take everything away from me " Lily muttered to herself, pacing back and forth. Her craze look was like she was having a complete meltdown.
"I can't lose. I can't lose. I can't lose" She chanted.
