Jeremy Shao was a 28-year-old man, working for a law firm called Boris, Brendan and Co (BBC for short). His job entailed getting yelled at for 8 to 10 hours a day by his bosses (either Boris or Brendan depending on which one was more hungover), scolding him for mistakes that were his colleagues', but he was too much of a wuss to call them out on this. He foolishly thought that if he took the blame for them constantly then maybe they would grow to like him!
On the days when he felt alone in this sea of sadness that was his reality, he just had to remind himself of the reason why he was putting himself through this pain, and then a big soppy grin would be plastered on his face as he pictured his beautiful wife Anita's face, and he would continue through his day. He proudly described himself as a world-class simp, and other than being a mediocre lawyer, this behaviour was his alter ego, simping over his wife, Anita Max Wynn.
This particular day, he was whistling as he journeyed back from work. He was especially hyped as he was let off early from work, so he hurried home in his 10-year-old Toyota Prius. It seemed like fate was smiling on him today as the entire 90-minute journey to his house (his wife wanted a big house in the countryside so he had to make a long commute to work) surprisingly only took an hour, and he soon pulled into his street.
However, when driving up to his house, something seemed off: a Porsche was sitting in the driveway! Jeremy was very confused as he didn't have a Porsche, so how could a Porsche get in his driveway? Upon looking at the number plate, it was his best friend's car! How nice, he thought, his bestie had come to visit him. This day keeps on getting better and better!
In happy spirits, he skipped into his living room, ready to greet his wife and bestie, when he heard a clapping sound coming from the bedroom. He immediately realised something fishy was going on, so he stealthily crept up there where he was greeted by a sight that would haunt him for life! He saw his wife, Anita, and his best friend of 7 years, Drake, in bed, together. He was fuming, and couldn't believe that the two people he trusted most in the world would do this to him. He felt a cloud of rage descending upon him, and in a fury, he strode over and punched Drake. However, his fist bounced off Drake and only served to severely hurt his knuckle and grab the attention of Drake and Anita.
"I see we can no longer keep this a secret honey," Anita said to Drake, calling that animal honey rather than her husband Jeremy. This hurt even more to Jeremy than the cheating and served to plunge the knife of betrayal further into his already damaged heart.
'She didn't even care enough to make an excuse' Jeremy thought as he stared into the abyss of true sadness and wept.
Anita then addressed Jeremy, "Since you've found out about us, then we no longer need to hide it, I expect you to leave this house now, and, the divorce papers will find their way to you soon."
Jeremy smiled bitterly "B*tch you didn't ever care for me did you, I spent all my life catering to your needs and this is how you repay me." He started laughing madly.
At this point, Drake intervened, "Bro have you gone mad? Why are you laughing, this isn't a dream, leave the house, before I make you." He then cracked his knuckles menacingly.
Jeremy knew there was nothing he could do, so he slowly walked away, reminiscing about his entire life and wondering if it was all a lie. He realised that he spent so long caring for Anita that he forgot to care for himself. He had truly wasted his life thus far. If only he had another chance, he thought, he would put himself above all and strive to become the best he could be!
The feelings of grief and regret enveloped him in a cocoon so tight he almost couldn't break out, and when he finally broke free, all he saw were two bright headlights, then nothing.
