In the end our first Dark Week had not gone badly, between how busy we were with the looting, the parties in the Tavern with the dwarves or the concerts in "the cave", the study of magic, the intrigues with the Game Master, and the intergenre adventures that were in progress, the danger of Dark Week faded into the background, just as the days passed quickly.
On the last day the dwarves had been busy in a workshop trying to make a new boiler for the barge so they could go up the river... they needed a much larger barge to be able to take all their share of the loot, even so as not to saturate the market and the price would fall, so we set up a warehouse for them with their own door and lock to store part of their profits. This also guaranteed that they would return soon and that the trade route would be a reality between the two races.
