Motel Three Orchids
Bang! Bang! Bang!
A young man was having fun playing on his phone while working at the motel reception. Everything was quiet when suddenly abnormal banging sounds were heard coming from the rooms upstairs.
Just as he was about to continue playing on his phone, the sound of the cabin phone rang.
Beep-beep! Beep-beep!
"Reception, how can I help you?"
"Yes, I hear it too."
"On the second floor? Yes, I'll tell them to stop," the young man responded to the customer, annoyed by the sudden, strange noises.
"God, what are they doing so early in the morning? Rough sex is never good, especially in a motel," the young man complained in dissatisfaction.
On the surveillance cameras, the door on the second floor was being pounded on without any signs of stopping.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The young worker approached the door and knocked, warning the guest.
"Sir, you have to pay for any damage caused to the motel property."
However, just as he was about to leave, the pounding continued.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Very annoyed, the young man took out special keys and opened the door.
"Are you asking for a beating?" the young man asked in a loud voice as his gaze rose toward the figure in front of him.
Without warning, the young man was forcefully dragged into the room. The only sounds that could be heard afterward were those of struggle and growls similar to those of an angry dog.
"Arghhh!!!"
Crack! Crack! Crack!
...
The sound of sirens could be heard a few hours later, all heading towards the motel.
In a car, Anton was on his way to the crime scene while listening to the news.
"The days are getting warmer little by little and are hard to handle. But the fact that we can finally breathe fresh air makes me very happy."
"[The United Nations will make an important announcement that will change the course of history as we know it, with non-NATO countries also joining this meeting, which has everyone concerned.]"
"Listeners, I recommend you not worry about what will happen tomorrow and live today the best you can. I wish you a beautiful afternoon where you can breathe deeply and look at the beautiful blue sky."
Anton arrived at the motel entrance, and police were already standing guard around the area.
"Greetings, sir," said a police officer, saluting Anton as he entered the motel parking lot.
Once he parked the car, he put on his detective ID and got out to find out what had happened.
This was his first case after months of vacation and the first one he was taking to train Jay, who should be at the crime scene related to a series of dark entities.
Anton approached Jay, who was putting on gloves, to inspect the crime scene.
"Sir, how do these things keep happening with all the protection we've put in place?" Jay asked as he handed Anton a pair of gloves.
"I'm just supervising you. Problems like those aren't my problem. If I worry about all the little things, I'll never get a moment of rest. What kind of incident is it?" Anton asked, lying because he knew Jay was ready to be one of the guardian leaders under his command.
"A murder. Wait, you came without knowing what kind of incident it was?" Jay asked as he walked toward the motel entrance.
"I came because you asked me to and mentioned it was related to the mass murder cases. I left my break halfway to come here. You should be grateful that I bother to come just by your words," Anton said more openly. Jay was one of the most unexpected friends he could have.
"The lady next door reported the crime," Jay said with a serious face.
"Who is the victim?" Anton asked with doubt.
"The reception worker."
"Let's go."
Anton walked up the building's stairs, observing any clues that might help in this situation.
In the hallway of the rooms, there was a camera that could greatly benefit the investigation.
At the entrance, two police officers were standing guard to prevent anyone from entering the crime scene and tampering with the information.
When Anton and Jay entered the room where the crime originated, the smell of fresh blood invaded their nostrils.
"Ash, my God," Jay complained, covering his nose with his hand.
Bloodstains could be seen from the entrance to the center of the room, and the corpse was right to the left of the bed.
Anton slowly approached, his gaze scanning the details. When he got close to the corpse, he removed the blanket covering its face without hesitation.
Inspecting the wounds on the body, Anton could see a terrifying wound on the neck. There were scratch marks on the arms, and the only fatal wound that could have killed him was the one on the neck.
"What do you think they did to the neck?" Anton asked, looking at Jay, who was trying not to look at the corpse.
"Well, it looks like they cut it with a dull knife. Maybe they were trying to cause more pain." Jay explained, glancing at the wound on the corpse.
Anton said nothing as he stood up and covered the corpse on the floor again. He turned to Jay and asked, "And the suspect?"
"They're in the guest room. Before the crime happened, there were many complaints about the noise."
Anton looked at the corpse again, a trace of doubt passing through his eyes. Looking at Jay, he pointed to the blanket and asked, "Who do you think covered it like that?"
Jay looked at the blanket covering the corpse. Without saying anything, he walked to the exit door and shouted.
"Hey, did you mess up the crime scene?"
"No, sir! It was like this!"
"Any witnesses?"
"None yet."
From the bars on the window, Anton could ensure that no adult human could have escaped through that exit.
In any case, the entrance camera might have detected the killer. But that doesn't explain the brutality of the murder. In all these years as a detective, Anton had never seen these kinds of killings that didn't come from anomalies.
They were very similar to the killer mutants they were tracking. Thinking of this possibility, Anton's face darkened.
Jay approached Anton, who was deep in thought, and said, "It was like this when they arrived."
"Did you check the exterior CCTVs?" Anton asked again.
"Ah? Yes, the CCTVs."
"Hey, what about the CCTVs?" Jay asked the police officer at the entrance again.
On the small nightstand next to the bed, numerous water bottles were empty.
Anton took a bottle and smelled it to check if it was alcohol.
"Drugs?" Anton thought to himself, realizing it was just plain water.
"They're checking it now, but they didn't see the suspect leave," Jay said, sweating and looking at Anton.
If they didn't see the suspect leave and it's impossible for them to escape through the window, they're not in the bathroom either.
"The only plausible possibility is..."
Jay turned to Anton with a puzzled and bored face.
"That would be absurd."
While checking the closet and bathroom again, Jay said, "Hey, I know that besides being my only friend, you're the Dad of the Light Association and have allowed me to talk to you like a friend, but it's impossible for this suspect to be in the bathroom or the closet without me noticing."
"The killer can't appear under the bed like ghosts. We would have noticed their energies," Jay said in frustration while watching Anton, who was about to look under the bed.
Hearing Jay's jokes, Anton looked under the bed when suddenly a man was lying still with a water bottle in hand.
"Sir? Please come out."
Seeing Anton motionless, Jay fell silent and said, "Are you kidding me? If you're joking, I won't invite you to watch the World Cup this time."
Jay crouched down and looked under the bed. "Aaah! Ash, damn it, I made eye contact with him! Damn it; if it's a dark entity, it will burn my eyes or possess my body."
Backing away from the bed, Jay looked at a police officer rushing into the room and stopped him. "Hey, hey, hey, we've got the culprit. Don't come in. Don't get involved now, you idiot; you need permission to enter, or the damn demonic doll will stab you with a knife."
Anton could see blood traces in the man's mouth and a puzzled look around, seemingly not understanding what was happening.
"If you don't want to die right now, it's better to come out of that damn corner, idiot," Anton warned, lightly touching his gun.
If it was another mutant similar to zombies, Anton wasn't sure he could contain it with just physical strength.
They were supposed to be eliminating some ghouls, but this seems entirely different.
