Back at the central base, Anton looked at Rafael, who was presenting the recent containment of a dark entity. After Rafael was done, Anton said, "Select a small team to travel to South Korea; choose experienced soldiers."
"Understood, sir!"
Anton walked towards the exit to head home. There were many things happening at that moment, but he still had to prioritize some over others. "I'll be home in about ten minutes."
For all those times Anton had been immersed in work, trying to seek forgiveness, he knew there were better ways to handle that pain. Years had passed since the first day he woke up in this place. He was never a coward and didn't feel fear because he thought of death as a punishment.
But now that he was going to be a father, things were about to change, and in the battle he had a few hours ago, he really considered needing other methods for elimination.
"Fear?" Anton shook his head. He knew he feared dying and leaving this life behind, which was only now getting truly pleasant.
Throughout his journey as an exorcist, he thought about many things he fought for, but now that had drastically changed when he found out he would indeed be a dad.
Was he prepared? Maybe, but now with more reasons, he had a purpose: to eliminate those parasites that could fall from the sky unexpectedly and without warning.
As he drove, Anton watched the people on the streets; they all had their lives, so he thought he deserved something similar too. Moreover, he had been right not to let Akira fight against that predator, or things could have been disastrous.
When he got home, it was past nine at night. If it had been earlier, he wouldn't have returned until tomorrow, but he also needed to give attention to his relationship, which he truly didn't want to lose.
"Sit down to eat; I prepared a veal blanquette," Akira said while preparing other dishes.
"Is your father here?" Anton put his jacket aside and discreetly hid the cut side.
Akira shook her head. "He went with John to some sort of retreat; he won't be back until tomorrow."
"Let me help you." Anton moved closer to help Akira with the dishes, which was really something new but not strange.
When you live with death tied to your neck, you will understand many more things, see the world differently, and ignore things you normally pay a lot of attention to.
While serving the dishes, Akira slightly frowned and said, "Don't do that."
"Do what?"
"Treat me like I'm disabled."
"I'm just helping my future wife serve dinner; it has nothing to do with your pregnancy."
Akira looked closely at Anton and said, "It's really hard to know when you're lying."
"I've never lied to you."
Anton ate in silence and, after a few minutes, said, "I have to solve the parasite problem in South Korea. A few days ago, we received important news that these parasites have probably been gathering."
"Will that be later?" Akira wasn't bothered by this since it was Anton's job.
"Of course it will be later; I won't be long."
"Avoid getting more scars on your face; you'll scare our child if they see you with more wounds." Akira smiled slightly.
"But you've told me I look more manly."
"Those are two different things."
