Chapter 258 - Leave the Work to the Police

Anton knew that everything had changed now, which is precisely why he called a team to move Kevin and later test if there were any possibilities of completing what he was looking for.

"Sir, we have the statistics from the raid on the facility."

"Bring them later." Anton waved his hand to dismiss the interruption.

His eyes were fixed on some of the attributes that had changed on his status panel.

Faith authority is something based on the beliefs of many people in him. It may be a small amount, but it is reflected by thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands, of people who have decided to trust him.

Anton knew this was not a small thing and was grateful for it, but back in the present, he had many things to do regarding the world's stability.

He had been reviewing Kevin's file and noticed a girl who had survived him, which was indeed curious. Coincidentally, Casey Cooke studied at a nearby university, so he now wanted to pay her a visit.

People with special abilities had to be on his team. He wanted to form one that could face anything and come out of every encounter victorious.

Anton wasn't arrogant; he knew his qualities and the dependence he had on others. This, in a way, was giving him a very bad sense of comfort. He wanted to return to his beginnings, but he knew that was simply useless.

"I need some fresh air."

When he left the parking lot, he walked to an ice cream parlor with a few people, so he bought a lemon-flavored ice cream. Bitter things stimulated Anton's palate, which would help him think more clearly about everything that was bothering him.

"Here is your ice cream."

Anton took the ice cream and sat down, taking out his cell phone to see how Kiran had risen to a very high rank among the hunters.

Kiran's recent case involved a mummy. As strange as it may seem, things in this world don't need to make sense to exist.

"Aren't you going to invite me for ice cream?"

Anton smiled at hearing this voice. He looked at Akira entering the ice cream parlor and said, "Have mine; it's sweeter than I thought."

"I don't like lemon..."

"Look, we will visit this girl later to evaluate her abilities and see if she's interested in being with us." Anton showed her the file of the girl named Casey, who seemed very normal.

Akira looked at the girl and nodded. Recruiting wasn't uncommon where she came from, so Anton's interest was nothing out of the ordinary for her.

"Will you go ahead with the special team?" Akira knew Anton's father's guards, which is why she was well aware of what Anton wanted to do.

Anton nodded. Forming this team was about putting people in the right places so they could work for a meaningful cause. Many of the selected individuals didn't know what to do with their lives, and perhaps giving them a purpose might interest them in living.

Once the cleanup time had passed, Anton left, and as soon as he approached the trucks where he was working, Alexander appeared.

"Sir, the prisoners have been moved to the base. What do we do about the situation at this secret facility?"

"The cleanup will be left to the police. Have the forensic team label and classify each of the deceased... None of this should come to light; we will keep it confidential." Anton knew there was a special team within the police, so this wouldn't go beyond them.

"Understood."

"Alright, let's go visit that girl." Anton wanted to clear his mind a bit; seeing so many deaths was not something he could ignore, which is why he wanted to leave here to stay focused on the other plans.

Akira accompanied him. She would be the one to talk to the girl Anton was about to seek out. This would not only make things easier than if Anton went alone, given what Casey had been through,.

...

Dean watched as Anton walked away without saying a word and said, "Certainly, that guy's demeanor bothers me. Can't he say goodbye?"

"We better get to work. I heard a damn werewolf was near this forest."

"I don't want to..."

"We should test the new weaponry."

"Modified weapons, then I do want to."
