"Aaaaahhhhh!!!"
The ropes binding Charlie broke, and the next moment, she tried to push Anton's hand away from her forehead, but without success. Watching as Charlie's nails dug into his skin, Anton didn't show any expression of pain; there was only a serene look, and the moment the girl's movements stopped, he stepped back from her.
"It's done; she'll sleep now." Anton took out a white handkerchief to wipe the blood from his wound where Charlie had buried her nails.
Akira sighed with relief, seeing that Anton was okay; she had never felt so many emotions in one place like now.
"Call the cleanup team; we need to find every detail we missed in this place and also erase the ritual in the shed." Anton said as he looked at Akira, who immediately left the room to make the call.
It was then that Annie, who was crying next to her daughter, looked up and asked, "So, is my mother not here?"
"She has been erased from the human world; she must have ascended." Anton said this without mentioning many unnecessary details that wouldn't be understood anyway. He had dealt with countless cases like this, so he only needed to give clear answers that would be understood.
But something that surprised Anton was that the darkness had not yet been erased from this town, as if somehow something was missing. So, looking around, he asked, "Do you know where your father's meetings were held to perform rituals?"
"She walked a lot in the forest; is something wrong?" Annie, who thought everything was over, was alarmed by that question.
Anton shook his head and said, "I want to eliminate everyone who does these kinds of rituals; I think for some reason, we haven't eliminated them all."
But these were obviously just Anton's speculations; he couldn't go around the world picking enemies of darkness just because he believed so, so he let go of the problem.
Still, Steve, who had returned with Peter, who had fallen unconscious earlier, stood up and muttered, "Mom, how is Charlie?"
"Sweetheart, how are you feeling?"
"I'm fine, a little confused, but fine." Peter nodded, remembering how he had been thrown by his sister as if he were a cotton sack.
Anton saw that this family was okay, so he walked down the hall. Steve, who was the man of this family, came out to have a more private conversation.
"What will happen now?"
Anton turned as he lit a cigarette and said, "They will be evaluated; your family will be quarantined, during which they will be isolated most of the time to ensure they don't have any problems."
"Haha, is it that serious?" Steve couldn't believe that his family was such a big problem and laughed ironically, which was really not a cheerful laugh.
Anton finished lighting his cigarette and said, "Sometimes people reveal contagious diseases that harm others, psychological symptoms, or persistent damage that we don't notice until it's too late."
"What will happen to the house?"
"It will be cleaned; in the worst case, we'll incinerate it and build a new one for them."
Just as Anton was about to say more, Akira returned with the cleanup team, which wore masks and suits that protected them from any contagious infection.
"Now you will follow those people, take them to a center where they will recover, and after that, if everything is okay, they will be released." Anton looked at Steve to make sure they had no problem with this.
When everything was under control, the cleanup crew started placing yellow sheets over the walls, and others went upstairs to the shed.
While they worked, Anton walked towards the exit of the house. "What do you think?"
"Very intense; I never thought a job like this would be so complicated." Akira smiled as she lit a cigarette to calm her nerves.
At that moment, Anton received a call, to which he asked, "What did you say?"
"We have a high-ranking man who killed several field agents; we can surely get information about the cult, but we need your authorization."
"I'm on my way." Anton signaled for Akira to leave. "Let's go; the people here will solve all the remaining problems."
Akira got into the van and asked, "What are we going to do?"
"We'll extract information."
