"Zz… We're under attack, I repeat, we're under attack!"
Boom!
Bang! Bang! Bang!
What would a sniper do if the element of surprise were taken out of their plan?
Anton was in the shadows, holding an assault rifle. He aimed at the other snipers, who couldn't be eliminated from other angles. His skill with weapons was formidable, so taking out a few enemies should be easy.
Everyone has a level of weaponry, but Anton was trained like any other assassin.
At that point, Anton controlled his breathing and stabilized his movements, carefully aiming and fixing his target through the telescopic sight.
Finally, after having the targets fixed, he pulled the trigger.
Bang!
A tough shot was fired, but Anton didn't stop. He didn't even want to check if he had missed the shot because he knew perfectly well that it was impossible for him to miss, and he ran to another point where he encountered assassins.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
As Anton moved away, the person who had taken over the machine gun fired at the place where Anton had eliminated his targets. The wall where he had been standing was completely demolished in an instant.
Fortunately, Anton wasn't in that place.
"What the hell is going on?" Chidi asked over the radio after hearing the premature shots. He couldn't see what was happening, as he and his team were hunting for John.
"Zz… There are assassins in the area targeting us."
"What did you say?" Chidi was stunned by a loud explosion that sounded very close to where he was.
He was about to ask another question when suddenly...
Bang!
Before the person at the machine gun could say anything, their head exploded into a mist of blood.
This time Chidi, who was shooting at John, could perfectly see how one of his men had his head blown off.
"Sniper, there's a damn sniper!" Chidi shouted to his men.
Realizing they were being ambushed, he sent a rescue to the assassins who were in the vicinity.
In an instant, those hunting for John took cover, leaving the shooting positions where they were exposed.
Everyone in the buildings knew the very bad situation they were in.
They were outside, exposed, facing a sniper who could be anywhere. Their surroundings were wooden walls that could be penetrated by a shot, not a place where they could take cover.
Without further delay, they all tried to hide their bodies.
However, it was too late.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Several sniper shots were fired, and those trying to identify where the shots were coming from were killed on the spot.
No one in the vicinity wanted to lose their lives.
They were all here for John's head to claim the million-dollar reward for ending his life.
Boom!
At that moment, the van where John had been previously exploded, and a shootout in the streets erupted suddenly.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
"Take cover!"
"Zz… Akira, do you copy?"
Anton advanced through the smoke curtains holding a short knife, clearly targeting his objectives, passing by them and cutting each one's throat.
"Argh…"
Bang!
"Zz… I hear you. What are your instructions?"
Anton, who had finished eliminating another figure hiding behind a wall, said, "Zz... We're withdrawing now; we've done enough for now."
"Zz… Understood, the team will pick you up now."
At this point, they had done more than enough; although Anton wanted John's skills to train his field agents, it wasn't necessary to get so involved.
Now that they had eliminated most of the ambush set up by El Márquez, Anton wanted to get away and wait for John at the duel's location.
As Anton emerged through the smoke curtains, he passed by a street where vans were waiting for him. Minutes later, a dozen figures emerged from different sides and got into the vans.
"How many casualties?" Anton asked as he wiped blood off his face.
"Zero fatalities; some are injured but not severely."
Akira helped Anton clean the blood off to ensure he wasn't misrepresented. "Good choice with the red shirt; having blood on a T-shirt is not a good look."
"Good choice, combined with your attire." Anton held Akira's hand and closed his eyes to rest his emotions.
Now killing had become something routine; he had rarely done it in his past life, but now it felt familiar. The situation now was just waiting; there was nothing more to do, so everyone went straight to the rendezvous point.
