Chapter 177 - Chaos breaks out in the town

"¡Fire!"

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The hordes of people rushing towards them were in the hundreds. Many didn't understand why they decided to attack head-on when the result would always be the same.

"Ahhhhh!"

Anton watched as all the people attacked his group. His gaze wasn't fixed on them but on some other entity that stood out among the rest.

As he looked around, he noticed a dark presence watching him from the top of a building. Sensing that presence, Anton tied a scarf around his face and said, "Rafael, I've located the main dark entity, so I'm going to eliminate it."

"Do you need me to accompany you?" Rafael was determined to go with him.

But Anton refused; someone had to command the attack force, so he decided to go alone to face that thing.

"Don't lose focus."

Rafael nodded. An archbishop's order cannot be questioned, so following the ancient rules, he obeyed what Anton had told him.

"Move forward!" Rafael shouted, seeing Anton veer towards the building.

"Don't hold me back, help!" A female voice was heard on the right side of where Rafael was, battling the people who were now being possessed by a demon.

Rafael was surprised when he saw a woman running quickly towards where that woman was. Rafael fired several shots at the man following her.

The bullets pierced the man's chest, and with a still-amused expression, he fell to the ground shortly afterward.

"Ahhhhhh!"

Just as Rafael was about to take a step forward, a very agile figure appeared not far away, who had killed an agent by surprise.

Seeing this scene, Rafael felt his blood run cold. He knew very well that not everyone was immortal and that somehow they would have to die. But right now, after personally training each of these agents, seeing them die was worse than being injured.

When Rafael wanted to shoot, the demon positioned itself in front of the woman who was lying on the ground, so now he knew the trap he had fallen into. If he shot now, not only would he kill the demon, but the woman would also likely die, and she's not a demon.

This was a checkmate at first glance.

Rafael could smell the putrefaction in the air.

The chill sent shivers down his spine, but he felt a warm sensation burning on his forehead and chest, rising like an energy that was protecting him from all evil.

That was the blessing Anton had given him, not just to him but also to the other agents.

It was that divine feeling that kept everyone sane; killing so many people was nothing but torture for the will to keep fighting, and everyone knew it. But something else shone in all of them, and that was duty, knowing that if they didn't end this, someone else would, so giving up would be ridiculous.

Rafael, like the others, wasn't going to give up either.

In close combat, Rafael didn't want to take risks. He quickly drew his knife from his waist and looked at the demon approaching, along with another that had come from behind.

His heart beat faster, fighting to give him the chance to come out of this combat unscathed.

One of the two demons mocked him.

His laughter was full of contempt and irony.

Having seen too many demons possess a human body, Rafael was unfazed. He knew these dark scum were the opposite of ethical and morally correct. The number of darker entities than these had been so great that he had long stopped keeping count.

But this didn't matter because he would eliminate both these demons in front of him and all the others who would come to face him.

"Argh!"

Rafael ran at an explosive speed. He launched himself at the first demon, whose attention was slowly focusing on the woman lying on the ground.

Initially, his dagger flew, avoiding the demon's ribs and stabbing directly into its heart.

Oohhh!

When the demon looked down, Rafael was in front of him, taking the knife out and causing black, hot blood to gush from the demon's wound.

The blood splattered Rafael's face, but there was no time to worry about that because if he didn't act now, the other demon would attack.

In this way, Rafael didn't stop when the first demon fell to the ground.

He was aware of his surroundings and knew he had another to his right.

Argggh!

Rafael let out a loud roar and used all his strength to throw the demon in front of him, using it as a shield to take attacks from other enemies in the distance.

When the demon didn't know what to do, it was too late. Rafael was in front of him and forcefully stabbed the demon's throat.

"Watch out!"

A soldier approached in time to eliminate the other demons coming from other places.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

"There are more over here, fire!"

Boom!

Looking at all the chaos that had erupted, Rafael approached the woman and handed her a cross to prevent her from being killed by demons.

"Let's keep pushing!"

...

On the other side of the building, Anton had hurriedly climbed the stairs, so fast that he didn't seem human. When he reached the rooftop, he looked at a man dressed in black with two long horns protruding from his head.

"I've got you..." Anton aimed his shotgun at that demon, who seemed to be enjoying what was happening around him.

With a pair of red pupils, the two-meter-tall man looked at Anton and said, "You're here, little priest; we're going to have a lot of fun."
