Chapter 116 - The Demon

Approximately 2500 years ago, a monster began to open the door that connects the human realm and hell to make humans suffer for its own enjoyment. But Buddha appeared before the mighty monster with the intention of erasing it from life and existence. He defeated it and burned its body in the flames of repentance. However, in its charred body, two very different eyes remained intact, unlike the other eight eyes the fearsome monster had.

Upon seeing this, Buddha removed the red eye and the black eye. Strangely, of the eight eyes the terrifying monster possessed, only two were the source of its power. However, both eyes escaped Buddha's hands and started moving away from him in two completely different directions. Buddha quickly caught the Black Eye and sealed it in a sarira sphere. On the other hand, the Red Eye managed to escape, hiding in the bodies of people. It is said that the monster could only escape for twelve nights.

Then, on the twelfth night, the Red Eye stopped and willingly waited to be caught by Buddha without resistance when it realized that the distance was not enough and that it could never escape Buddha's gaze. Seeing that the distance it covered was like a bridge, it stopped running and voluntarily entered a sarira sphere. After sealing them inside the spheres and hiding them in the vast deserts of the west and the high peaks of the east, Buddha told his nameless disciples, "Ensure that these eyes never reunite, for this is their destiny.

...

October 2006: Indo-Pakistani Border A Jeep sped along the desert road under the powerful sun. As if destiny were predetermined, the Jeep never stopped and continued to travel faster. "I finally deciphered where the sarira sphere is in the desert. If I can find it, I can prove that the Diamond Sutra legend is true."

After a long journey, the Jeep stopped near a massive sand dune. A man in his fifties got out of the Jeep and observed in the distance small sticks of dried wood arranged in a circle. Approaching, about thirty people were working under the blazing sun and heavy air. Dust and sweat created a weary atmosphere.

"We found it!" "We found it!" Upon hearing the loud shouts, everyone dropped what they were doing and approached the excavation site. The man in his forties descended into the sand, not caring that it entered his shoes, and slid quickly and eagerly.

Underneath, at the center of the excavation, was a small stone box with various strange and seemingly ancient engravings. The man easily uncovered the stone box with his hands, smiling with an indescribable feeling, and desperately excavated the sand that had filled the small stone box over time. Quickly removing the sand, a dark-colored crystalline sphere with a rocky appearance was revealed.

When the man pulled it out, he raised it to the sky as a display of a historical discovery that proved many years of his long research. Days later, news started pouring out one after another. Similar headlines, such as "A relic proving the Diamond Sutra legend was discovered," "The Buddhist world closely follows the incredible event," "radiocarbon dating results revealed. Professor Kim decided to verify the relic," and "legal action will be taken against the archaeologist who falsified an ancient relic."

The famous fake sarira sphere caused a great uproar in 2006.

...

Year 2017, Present "A red moon is announced." "Is the sarira sphere fake?" "Is the legend a lie?" "What do you know? Fools..." A hoarse and resentful voice was heard in a quite messy room. On the floor, numerous newspapers from 2006 were scattered. "I wasn't wrong..." "That's right! I wasn't wrong." Holding a crumpled newspaper in his hand, the man roared angrily, throwing the newspaper into the fireplace. "You were the ones who were wrong!"

The man in the room was none other than the archaeologist who discovered the ancient relic, Park. "I will prove that the legend was true," muttered Park with a hoarse voice.

Opening a small laboratory refrigerator, Park took out a plastic slide containing several unlabeled red tubes of blood. As he looked at the different blood tubes with unknown thoughts, a clock's bell rang, indicating it was 1:00 PM.

As if his body weighed him down, Park walked slowly to the center of the room, where there was a long wooden table. In the dark room, candles were lit everywhere. On the table, a small stone tablet and a sarira sphere were carefully placed. Resting one hand on the sarira sphere, the other gently caressed the stone tablet. If one looked closely, unknown letters were engraved on the stone tablet.

Park closed his eyes, focused, and recited, "Do not awaken what lies dormant here. On the night of the red moon, the red eye will awaken from its slumber and return in search of the black."

With a slow and deliberate voice, Park easily opened the sarira sphere. "When both meet again, the world will transform into a hell where only pain and darkness exist."

Inside the sarira sphere was a petrified stone ball. When Park opened the blood vials, he poured them one by one while continuing the prayer. After pouring the last six blood vials, Park took a knife and cut his hand. As fresh blood spilled from his hand, the entire stone ball filled with different types of blood.

"Now the gate to hell will open," murmured Park with a sinister smile on his face. "The gate to hell..."

After several minutes, the smile on Park's face slowly faded as he felt disappointment. He collapsed on the floor in disbelief at what he was seeing. "I wasn't wrong." Unwilling to accept reality, Park took the knife in his hand and slowly brought it to his throat.

Unaware of what was happening inside the sarira sphere, the blood gathered inside the sphere began to vibrate strongly. A blood-soaked eye floated above the floor and moved towards Park before he could take his own life.

...

In the unknown mountains, a Buddhist monk was silently meditating. Under the strong winds, the door in which the Buddhist monk meditated suddenly burst open. The sudden gust made the monk open his eyes, but his tranquility was not lost. When he looked at the door, a huge red moon showed itself in all its splendor, bringing a great omen to the Buddhist monk.

Walking with difficulty, the Buddhist monk entered a very old and dusty room, struggling to move a sacred stone statue. The monk took out a sarira sphere. "Johan, the time has come," the old man murmured.

Under the red moon, something that had been dormant for over two thousand years was awakened by malicious intentions.

...

On top of the Continental Hotel in Osaka, Anton was looking at the red moon. He had returned from last night's dinner and was now observing a special phenomenon that caught his attention. He directly contacted the Light Association to see if they had any information about the phenomenon unfolding in the dark sky. "Is there anything unusual?" Anton held a phone while talking with a worried expression.

"No, sir, we are working and reinforcing surveillance at all Light Association bases. We will keep you informed if anything abnormal happens." "Good, report this to the Daegu base." Anton hung up the phone while lightly touching the weapon at his waist.

Just before falling asleep, he heard a sinister and resentful voice speak loudly. Beep-beep!

"Son, you have a very important mission in South Korea. Someone has awakened an ancient demon about which we had no information until now. You must go to Daegu, especially find a Buddhist monk; he has the other part of the demon to complete its transformation. The best hunters will be sent; a car should be picking you up right now."

Anton nodded and said, "I understand, Dad. I'll get the job done."
