"In that direction, exactly where you are placing it, just a little higher." A man with a screen pointed to a truck resembling a multiple rocket launcher, but instead of missiles, it carried a massive lantern simulating sunlight.
It had long been known that vampires cannot be exposed to the sun, stemming from manifestations of a condition called porphyria. A strange ailment causes intolerance to sunlight. This meant that as long as humans had the necessary equipment, vampires would not pose a threat to them, especially if a secure perimeter had been established, as Anton had done.
"It's getting dark; it looks like they're going to have a nighttime battle..." One of the technicians murmured while carefully inspecting the lamp.
A young man with the Light Association emblem on his chest said, "You shouldn't worry; they will send the special forces of the association, and they will deal with the dark entity very easily."
"That's true; besides, Anton ShadowBane will be leading the operation, so nothing will go wrong. The last time Anton appeared, he eliminated the early manifestation of the devil, even though many claim it was another demon." The young man who responded was an aspiring exorcist, so he knew a lot about it.
As time passed, Anton's fame grew, becoming so prominent that in other countries, he was recognized as a powerful exorcist who hadn't reached thirty yet.
As the equipment was placed around the community to ensure that nothing escaped, the police redirecting traffic made it clear that no one could enter.
Meanwhile, two huge, entirely black trucks entered the community and headed directly to the house that had been secured for a long time. These trucks were where the indestructible armored soldiers of the Light Association usually moved. Their masks this time were made of silver, and they wore special night vision equipment because the fight would be in the evening.
It was known that these trucks had twenty armored soldiers each, and by sending two, the Light Association feared that the vampires might be more numerous, so a barrier was established to prevent anyone from escaping.
"They're here..." Anton murmured as he watched the trucks silently park in front of Jerry's house.
When the people in the room heard that, they stood up and saw those two trucks parked a few meters away.
"Will they be enough?" Charley couldn't help but ask again due to his constant fear of the vampire who wanted to kill him.
Anton, of course, understood the situation, so he said, "They sent more than I asked for, so we will eliminate them successfully; don't worry."
"How can we be so sure?" Jane was still upset because they had been forced to stay in this place.
Amy, on the other hand, didn't say much and muttered, "They are professionals; they will surely know what to do at all times."
"In the hypothetical case that we can't eliminate them all, those trucks parked there silently will explode and blow up the entire community into a thousand pieces." Anton said, with a slightly open smile.
But trying to make a joke about it, he ended up being looked at strangely and muttered, "It's just a joke; was it that bad?"
"You make worse jokes than my friend Ed."
"Yeah, that was pretty lame..." Amy confirmed her boyfriend's words.
But no one knew that Anton wasn't entirely joking; in strange cases, that would be the result of a failed mission. It had happened in many other places, so this place was no exception.
Anton had changed a lot over time; he felt much calmer, and his emotions had hidden well within him, making him appear indifferent to many situations.
By not showing many emotions, everyone who saw him for the first time would associate him with a literal robot. "You don't have to worry; as long as you stay in the designated area, you'll be safe from any attack."
Watching as the sky darkened with clouds, Anton knew he had to act before time ran out and said, "We will begin containment; you go to the armored truck, where you will see everything from a much better perspective."
Having said that, Anton left while holding a cross made of plants without any symbols.
