After completing training at a secure house of the Association of Light, where there were other recruits who would serve under Anton's orders, he boarded a train with Rafael to investigate some leads on a possible unidentified dark entity.
There was much to do due to the recent containment of multiple dark entities, so, following the protocol, agents who were in the field should receive mandatory psychological counseling. Therefore, they had to undergo a mental examination that doctors would evaluate in the ongoing sessions.
"How are your counseling sessions going?" Anton asked, walking ahead.
"Everything is going well, sir. I won't have any problems," Rafael responded with a serious expression as they boarded the train.
But at that moment, in the train aisle, a nervous girl ran and collided with Rafael.
Rafael was a very strong and serious man in his work, so there was no chance he would remain calm in public.
Therefore, his body barely moved with the sudden impact.
Upon feeling the impact, his whole body was static, like a tree.
After the girl collided with Rafael, she felt a strong pain in her head and fell to the floor.
"Are you okay?" Rafael asked with an abnormal voice, evidently concerned.
He reached out, wanting to help the girl.
However, when the girl looked up, Rafael was surprised to see her face and retracted his hand a bit.
The girl wore a mask covering her mouth, and the visible dark circles under the girl's eyes were very dense. Rafael noticed that her eyes carried an expression of terror.
Rafael could see all these details after a simple glance and knew that something was wrong.
The girl, upon hearing the question, looked at Rafael and hurriedly shook her head.
Quickly, she got up and left. It seemed like she had something urgent to attend to.
Rafael touched his beard, a bit puzzled. Since the girl didn't say anything, he treated it as a minor interruption. There was no point in being too intrusive in many cases that ended up being absolutely nothing.
"What is this?" Rafael's gaze suddenly fell on a piece of paper on the floor.
It seemed to have fallen from the girl a moment ago.
Anton, who was beside Rafael, was checking his cellphone, as his additional role as a priest tended to handle many things.
After Rafael picked up what the girl had dropped, he realized it was a drawing of a dark room.
"Is everything alright?" Anton asked, seeing Rafael's stiff movements.
"Look at this, sir. The girl from earlier left it on the floor." Rafael showed a crumpled piece of paper with a drawing of a room.
Anton only now noticed that the drawing was not of a normal room. He even doubted if it was a room; the drawing showed a door and a person drawn behind the door. The strokes were rough and clumsy, making the drawing feel strange.
However, for an apparently hastily made drawing, it served its original purpose of expressing a feeling. The silhouette standing at the door lied without a face; all the drawn strokes lacked details that would identify anything specific.
"The girl left it on the floor." Anton asked with curiosity.
"Yes, it seemed strange. She had a terrified look. Moreover, if I'm not mistaken, it was a girl," Rafael said as he looked at the drawing.
Anton frowned upon hearing these words.
This simple drawing gave him a strange and uncomfortable feeling.
"Wait... a drawing and a girl?" Anton realized something. The girl he encountered a while ago inside the church dropped a drawing on the floor, and, in the end, it turned out that something dark involved that girl, but she was not found.
According to the latest reports from the research department, the girl could not be identified. Anton also did not realize that she might be the same girl he encountered at first, mainly because the girl's hair was also short.
"We need to find that girl quickly." Anton turned around quickly and started walking in the direction the girl had run.
"Sir, did you find something?" Rafael asked with a terrible premonition.
"There's no time to explain; we need to find her as soon as possible." Anton saw that the girl was nowhere to be found.
Anton could sense that something was wrong, so, wanting to figure out what it was, he ran through the entire train carriage in search of the girl who had run away.
"The girl disappeared," Rafael speculated. "She's good at hiding..."
Anton didn't wait and quickly took out his cellphone, pressing a number.
"Thomas, can you track my location?"
"Yes, sir, give me a moment," replied Thomas from the other end of the call.
Thomas, who was at the safe house of the Association of Light, stood up from his desk and walked towards numerous people from the logistics department.
"Attention! I want you to find the location of Priest Anton right now."
After Thomas said that, numerous workers nodded and started tracking Anton's location.
"Understood!"
"We've got it!"
"Priest Anton, we've located your location. What are your orders?" Thomas asked, assuming his role as Anton's spokesperson.
"I want you to access the security cameras and look for a girl with short black hair, wearing black pants, a mask, and a blue hoodie." Anton quickly described the girl's appearance.
"Understood, sir. We'll notify you once we find something."
Anton hung up the phone while thinking carefully.
"Sir, what's the situation?" Rafael asked again, with a furrowed brow.
"The girl from earlier, possibly, is the author of this drawing that I sent for investigation." Anton took out the drawing and analyzed it again.
"When we were in the church, I met a similar girl, but back then, I didn't suspect anything at first." Anton seemed to remember what happened and said, "The drawing that the girl dropped had an illustration of a dark entity that is now being tracked on the other side of the city."
"It can't be!" Rafael muttered under his breath.
Only now did he understand the gravity of the situation. If it were a normal girl, there wouldn't be a need to make such a fuss. However, if Anton's conjectures were correct, they would have in their hands a person who could change the understanding of dark entities.
Until now, there was no way to track the emergence of dark entities immediately. But if that girl's ability had some connection to everything related to darkness, it could be of great help or even the key to finding and tracking enemies before they even had the chance to possess a body, incarnate, or evolve into a dangerous creature.
"Rafael, you must tell me... What was her expression? Tell me all the details." Anton looked at Rafael, who was still lost in thought.
"Priest Rafael!" Anton shouted with an authoritative voice. Quickly, Rafael snapped out of his stupor. After the sudden shout, people who remained silent started looking at them with strange eyes. Some even turned on their cameras and began recording the scene.
"I'm sorry, sir; it was all too sudden," said Rafael, feeling annoyed by his immature behavior. It had been impossible for him to imagine such an absurd possibility or what the mysterious girl represented.
"That doesn't matter; the first thing we need to do is look for the girl once the train stops. For now, you must tell me the details you remember about that girl. If it's the same one I remember, it would be important to consider it." Anton looked at Rafael and interrogated him.
After trying to recall the chaotic memories in his mind, Rafael shook his head. Then he spoke slowly: "Her short hair covered her eyes, so I didn't pay much attention to her face. She also wore a mask that covered most of her face."
Anton glanced at Rafael and nodded. Until now, there was nothing connecting the girl with the one from before. However, if it wasn't the same girl, maybe there was a pattern that related them in some way.
"You can't remember anything else? Do you know anything about whether she had circles under her eyes? Is there anything else you could observe?" Anton continued asking. "This is very important for the investigation. We need to know her emotional state; it might have something to do with a dark entity."
Rafael began to remember the earlier events. After making sure, he spoke with a serious look: "I could tell she was terrified. I'm not very sure, but she had very large dark circles under her eyes."
"She might be her," Anton thought to himself.
"We have to find that girl; she might be in trouble. As for the rest, we'll analyze it in the future at the right time."
Then, after the train stopped, new people entered, and others exited.
"Call the support team, locate the next stop of the train, and wait at the next exit." Anton said this while getting off the train, trying to locate the girl.
"Understood, sir." Rafael communicated with the headquarters and began giving continuous orders.
