Chapter 29 - Massacre in the Darkness

Bang!!!

It wasn't until the headless corpse fell to the ground and blood dripped that the deformed assassin reacted. Roaring in pain at the sight of a loved one's murder, he looked directly in the direction from which the shots came.

However, just as he was about to make a move, he saw a man dressed in black approaching. He had a slim figure and seemed very weak, but his breathing and confidence showed strength. He could also see the rifle with which he had massacred his loved one; he could still see the smoke coming from the rifle's barrel.

Before he could break apart this abominable man and swallow him, the man in front of him raised his rifle and fired, killing him instantly.

Anton looked at the headless corpse without any expression on his face. He could see it die quickly, but he also noticed its weak movements even after death.

Clic!

After killing these two people, Anton reloaded the rifle, inserting two more cartridges into the chamber. To be honest, it was too cruel to kill them in cold blood and without any feeling of guilt. After all, as an exorcist priest, he had never killed people before, and now it could be said that these were his first impressions.

As soon as he thought of this, Anton quickly changed his expression and looked towards the cabin door. According to Jessie, she saw about three serial killers, but Anton had killed four with these he found in the cabin, adding the ones on the road. Analyzing the behavior of these killers, Anton classified them as unruly individuals who couldn't stay still, so it is likely that there are no more inside the cabin now.

"Are they all dead?" Anton put the rifle on his back and pulled out a pistol while gesturing for Jessie to come closer. Just as the distance was closing, Anton's eyes narrowed slightly as he heard a chewing sound from inside the cabin.

"Don't you want to move after hearing shots?" Anton murmured these words as he approached the cabin door. While Anton ignored the horrible things around the cabin, he leaned directly against the door and, after clearing blind spots, frowned slightly.

In the middle was a huge table where the people of this place possibly ate, full of food but something that would make anyone vomit. The arms and thighs of people who had died a long time ago were half-chewed on the table.

"These demons..." Anton's gaze distorted at the sight of this horrible scene that chilled his blood. At this moment, evil sprouted in Anton's heart; he wanted to slowly tear apart the perpetrators and torture them for killing these people who possibly hadn't hurt anyone in their lives.

"How horrible..." Anton, who entered the cabin aiming his pistol, saw a figure that looked young; that figure was obviously of a younger age, but upon seeing it, he could see that it was biting a human thigh.

Anton, with a distorted expression, pulled the trigger of his pistol.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

At that moment, Anton fired three times without hesitation, and each bullet penetrated the body of that young figure, causing large blood holes. However, even as she drowned in her blood, that young figure still tried to eat.

"This place is no different from hell." Anton murmured, feeling very strange. After firing multiple times, Anton took a step back and held his forehead while growling in frustration that he felt in his chest. All that blood, the smell of decay, and human remains were an image that might never be erased from his memory.

"It's over..." Anton sighed after saying these words, as if a great weight had been lifted off of him. After having killed all the cannibals in this place, Anton alerted Jessie, who was hiding behind him.

"Congratulations on successfully completing an extreme-level exorcism; you have obtained Reward: 2,000 Faith Points, Manipulation of Divine Energy."

At this moment, if it were the Anton of the past, he would feel proud to have obtained an unknown ability. But after stepping into the same hell, he only felt great desolation deep in his soul.

Then, when Anton was absorbed in his surroundings, a voice behind him brought him out of his thoughts.

"Did you kill them all?" Jessie asked, looking horrified at the surroundings covered in blood.

"Check if anyone is alive," Anton said as he walked into the room.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

But at that moment, gunshots were heard behind him, and when he turned around, pointing his pistol, he could see that Jessie was the one who had shot the corpse at the door.

Anton shook his head, walked towards Jessie, and took the gun from her hands. "I'll keep this..."

"I needed it..." Jessie murmured as she looked at the lifeless corpse with all those shots.

Anton didn't say anything in response. Everyone needs an outlet, but that doesn't give anyone the right to go out and shout their problems to the world.

At that moment, before they could take another step to investigate the house, the sound of several helicopters echoed above their heads. Before they could step out of the cabin, several figures in black uniforms descended from ropes hanging from the helicopters.
