[District 61AU, The Hexagon]
The Hexagon, also known as The Hex, is the world's greatest educational institution where magic and science are at the cutting edge. The Hex is a large artificial island located in the Eastern Sea. It is an island created from a combination of engineering technology and magic.
In this huge space, there are tens of thousands of people, with only about 12000 students, this year about 2000 first-year students from all over the world gathered here. And there are also general people who work in various professions within this island.
The Hex is an educational institution established by the central government, which is an extremely important center that has attracted the attention of private investors and organizations from different regions or nations as well. Because the students who graduate from here are quality personnel that everyone wants.
Therefore, I who study in this place will face a lot of competition..and this will probably be my life for the next 6 years.
After I got off the train, I stood still and absorbed the beautiful, modern, and fantasy scenery in front of me. Even though I had researched a lot of information and seen pictures on the internet, when I saw the picture in front of me I couldn't help but admire it once again.
'Wow, so beautiful'
"Hey, Nate, why are you standing there?"
As I was staring at the view, Umi called from beside me and as I turned my head to look at Umi who was now wearing The Hex's uniform.
"..I wonder where you're going in such a hurry?" I asked curiously.
"Hehe, on the first day we have to explore around, right?"
I glanced at the watch on my wrist.
[7.30 a.m.]
"Uh, there's still a lot of time left."
"Come on, follow me~"
Class will start at 8:30 a.m. Umi and I took a walk around The Hex to pass the time. Around us there were students from various years walking around as well. Our uniforms were the same, but the difference was that the pin on the collar indicated our year. It is a silver brooch badge contrasting with the black-white uniform. But every now and then I see a gold brooch that signifies something special.
Around the island there are many places with complete facilities comparable to a city.
It didn't take long for us to enjoy ourselves and then we stopped in front of the classroom.
[H-111]
It's simple, H-1 building, first floor, room one.
Umi and I are now first year students and we are in this class. The class division might be based on test results or it might be mixed, I don't know. The room was a slope and was quite empty because we had arrived about half an hour early, so we were able to reserve an empty seat first, so Umi and I sat in the upper left corner of the room.
The bell rang and at the same time the instructor stepped into the class, the chatter immediately quieted down.
'Hm, he's so punctual.'
The instructor was a middle-aged man with a neat uniform and a slight beard.
After observing the surroundings of the room, the instructor smiled slightly.
"It's great. There are a lot of students coming to study this year. Well, today is the first day and teaching hasn't started yet."
The atmosphere in the room immediately improved, and the students were silently delighted.
'No teaching on the first day? Good news'
"Alright, then allow me to introduce myself. My name is Lucas Allen, the instructor who has been caring for all of you all year."
"But I will tell you something about my studies and course of study. Even though there are compulsory subjects in the first three years, you all can take the subjects you are interested in studying, and for those who have prepared well, you can take the exam for the next year's promotion."
"And the sooner you all know which faculty you want to study, the better. Our The Hex has many faculties for you to choose from."
At this moment, students suddenly felt a sense of competition. Lucas seemed to like the student's reaction, so the corners of his mouth curled up into a slight smile.
"Many people may be excited. Some people may not sleep well last night because of anxiety and excitement, but you don't have to be too hard on yourself. ,...but the Hex is not kind to those with lazy personalities. Some of you may be aware that those who do not meet the criteria for two years are likely to be expelled."
Lucas said in a kind tone at first before it became stern.
"Even though The Hex's indicators of success are your grades, some things have the same effect. Therefore, we will rate you accurately and honestly."
After observing the students for a moment, Lucas turned to meet my gaze before looking elsewhere.
'Within this class, there are some students from very wealthy and powerful families, so it's not unusual for each of them to view others as competitors.'
At that moment, Umi next to me gently nudged me.
"Nate, have you decided what course you want to study?" Umi whispered softly.
I nodded in response but didn't tell her my choice.
"Well, I've said a lot. Does anyone have any questions?"
"..."
"So..you there who raised your hand."
"Yes, sir, when can the exam for the next year promotion be taken?" a nerdy looking man with glasses asked the instructor.
'That person is Harry Lee, right?'
Before the semester starts, I can find out about students in my class or some outstanding people that I should know.
"Good question. In the first year, you all will still have to study compulsory subjects. But after the exam, if your scores pass the criteria, you will have the right to take the exam for promotion. In the promotion exam, you can choose to skip any number of years, it's up to you. But always remember that some practical subjects cannot be skipped across years."
"Do you have any questions?"
Another man raised his hand.
"Then you over there."
"There won't be any homework today, right, teacher?"
At that moment, the eyes of the entire class immediately focused on that man.
'Why do I always meet this type of person wherever I go? I don't understand.'
"Hoho.., it seems like the newbie knows a bit about this. That's right, even though school doesn't start today, I have a custom of giving you homework to go back and do."
Lucas said, pulling something out of the bag he had brought.
Bam!
"I'll give you guys until next week. Today's the end of class. Hahaha," Lucas said as he quickly walked away.
The students in the room were stunned for a moment before slowly getting up to pick up their homework paper.
'Damn homework!!'

Umi and I didn't go home immediately after class but instead chose to stop by The Hex's library.
As I tapped my student card to enter the library
[Nathan Wolfsberg confirmed]
'How interesting'
The Hex's student card is really versatile. This is one of those technologies that have become widespread recently. This is the result of reverse engineering mixed with magic. The RFID technology combined with the magic circuit makes the card not only an ordinary card that can not only be used to enter and exit places, but also can be used to detect the concentration of one's own mana.
In previous decades, knowing the level of a mana core would require special equipment or expensive, time-consuming spells. But now The Hex has published its latest research and has a method that can detect the concentration of mana. What is interesting is not only the level of a person's mana core, but also the rank of the gates opened, thus allowing humans to better deal with the gates.
'I have to do something, too.'
Inside the library, which is very large, no matter where you look, there are many books of almost every type. This place is almost a storehouse of knowledge of people from many generations that have been passed down through the generations. Even though there is internet in our daily life these days, there are not many books about spells and magic available on the internet for many reasons. Umi and I found an available table before taking turns looking for books that interested us.
Umi chose books about spells and magic, and I chose books about monsters.
-This Monsterpedia contains information on monsters that appeared frequently in the last year or so.
-Iron Scorpion Rank F-D tier 1-5, length from 1-3 meters. The body is covered with metal armor as hard as iron and has a highly corrosive poison...
Flip
-Sand golem...
-Red wild boar, rank F-E, tier 1-3, length from 1.2-2.6 meters, weight approximately 60-300 kilograms, and the meat can be eaten.
-...can be eaten
Flip
'Can you eat it? Definitely an economic animal of some districts.'
Most of the time, monster meat is edible, but whether or not it's delicious depends on the type. Some monsters are delicious and some have a bad smell and taste. Gates opened over the years have been both good and bad at the same time. Because there are some monsters or animals that are no different from ordinary animals that sometimes became extinct during the Dark Ages. Some of the various ingredients on the market now come from the gate effect. And as time passed, some Overloaded Gates brought in various kinds of monsters, and as time passed, those monsters became native to this world.
'It's time to go home.'

Time has passed
Umi and I went home because Umi wasn't very well and there wasn't much class in the first week. There was probably a reason for this, such as policy to allow students to adapt to the new environment, and some people There may be a slight fever due to side effects of the vaccine, for example.
"If you're sick, why didn't you tell me sooner?" I said as I put the fever reducing gel on Umi's forehead.
"..I uh-"
sigh
"Don't say anything. It was my fault for not noticing. But what do you want to eat?"
"yoghurt!"
"..I mean the meal."
"Hehe, it can be any menu~"
"Um, okay."
'Umi might be on her period. Um, what should I do? Why isn't this kind of thing taught?'
