The bathroom in the suite was separated by frosted glass, which, while not clear, still allowed the silhouettes of people to be vaguely seen.
Ray, with a cigarette in his mouth and a can of beer taken from the fridge, listened to the playful noises coming from the bathroom a few meters away. He observed the graceful silhouettes projected onto the fine frosted glass.
It was like having a layer of mosaic applied.
And a thin one at that!
The unimportant parts were mostly visible, while the crucial parts remained unseen.
"The person who designed this suite was truly a genius!"
Shaking his head, Ray moved to the balcony.
The cool breeze made him feel much more awake.
Night had fallen, and one by one, searchlights began to illuminate the cross-river bridge in the distance.
Two barriers, hastily constructed from large trucks and a dozen containers, firmly stopped any survivors wanting to cross the bridge.
However, passage wasn't entirely denied. One only needed to pass through several checks to ensure there were no symptoms or signs of zombie infection to be allowed through.
Completing a full set of checks took at least two to three minutes. Although there were two checkpoints operating simultaneously, the number of people coming this way was overwhelming. As a result, more and more survivors were left waiting here, queuing for inspection.
Looking at the densely packed crowd, there were at least a few thousand people.
Fortunately, squads of armed soldiers patrolled nearby. Otherwise, these people might have already lost patience and stormed the barriers.
It's understandable, considering the circumstances. It's the apocalypse, and the roars of zombies can be heard everywhere, especially at night. The howls coming from all directions, as if zombies could burst forth and knock them to the ground at any moment, who could stand that?
Even Ray himself would feel daunted if he were alone outside without an armored car, not to mention ordinary people.
Smoking and drinking beer, watching the not-so-distant bridge over the river, where gunshots and shouts resounded from time to time, along with the never-ending roars of zombies.
Ray's gaze was profound, and no one knew what he was thinking.
It wasn't until the two women finished their baths and made some noise leaving the bathroom that he diverted his attention.
Looking at the two women, freshly bathed, their hair still damp and their skin showing a hint of rosiness, Ray's eyes brightened.
It must be said, each woman had her own charm. Liu Yuqing, dressed in a comfortable, low-cut nightgown, showcased her generous assets without reserve.
And Zhao Zhirou, wearing a silk top and silk shorts, moved in such a way that her long legs appeared and disappeared, truly captivating.
"Pervert, had enough? It's your turn to take a bath," Liu Yuqing chided.
"Alright, I'm going now."
Ray smiled, withdrew his gaze, finished the last sip of his beer, picked up his clothes, and headed to the bathroom.
"This guy is becoming less and less honest!"
Liu Yuqing glanced down at her low-cut nightgown, thinking of Ray's unabashedly passionate gaze, and felt her cheeks heating up.
"He's not honest, but you're even less so!"
Zhao Zhirou teased Liu Yuqing, knowing full well Ray was a man and yet dressing so provocatively, wasn't this an obvious temptation?
"Speaking of me, you're the same."
Liu Yuqing's cheeks grew hotter, but she retorted without showing weakness.
"I..."
Zhao Zhirou wanted to argue, but looking down at her silk attire, she found herself at a loss for words; there was simply no argument to be made!
"Hmph, I won't talk to you anymore, I'm going to cook."
"I'll help too!"
The two women playfully went to the kitchen to start preparing dinner.
...
The bathroom was quite spacious, about seven or eight square meters, featuring a bath that could accommodate three or four people at the same time, and two showers.
Judging by the traces, the two women seemed to have used the shower.
"Really don't know how to enjoy themselves. With such a rare opportunity, they should have soaked in the bathtub to relax properly."
Saying this, Ray turned on the faucet in the bathtub to start filling it with water.
Because of this, he took a bit longer to bathe!
He soaked for over half an hour before finally coming out of the bathroom.
"Mmm... smells good!"
As he exited the bathroom, a tantalizing aroma immediately greeted him.
It turned out the two women had already prepared dinner and were waiting for him.
"You finally finished. A big man takes longer to bathe than us women, we've been waiting for you for ages." Seeing Ray come out of the bathroom, Liu Yuqing hurriedly got up.
"Come and eat!"
Seeing Ray shirtless, his muscles well-defined, Zhao Zhirou's cheeks reddened.
"Of course, I had to enjoy a hot bath when I finally had the chance, unlike you two, just hastily finishing up without even knowing if you're clean."
Ray, drying his hair, walked over nonchalantly and sat down at the table, saying this without a care.
"As if you're the clean one!"
Placing the steaming food in front of Ray, Liu Yuqing gave him a reproachful look, then stopped wasting words on him and started eating her meal.
They had been either fighting or on the move all day, and by now, she was genuinely hungry.
"I'm not very good at cooking, most of these dishes were made by Yuqing."
Zhao Zhirou's cheeks were still a bit red, after all, she had only met Ray today, unlike Liu Yuqing who had already spent a night with Ray, she couldn't be as casual in their banter.
"Ha, you better start eating too!"
"Mm, the taste is really good!"
"Of course!"
Four dishes, two vegetarian, one meat, and a soup, were quite a feast in these apocalyptic times.
The three of them ate and discussed their next moves.
...
"Do you mean to observe for a while and wait for the right moment to cross the bridge?" Zhao Zhirou was somewhat surprised by Ray's plan.
"Yes!"
"Actually, that's not necessary. I have a police badge; if nothing goes wrong, I should be able to take you across directly." Saying this, Zhao Zhirou also took out the police badge she carried with her.
Liu Yuqing, sitting beside Zhao Zhirou, took a bite of her food and looked curiously at the police badge, "In this day and age, are you sure your police identity still holds any sway?"
Ray shrugged, "You said 'should,' and we shouldn't take such uncertain risks."
"But..."
Zhao Zhirou opened her mouth but found herself at a loss for words.
She herself wasn't very confident; after all, having been here for so many years, she was quite clear about some rules, but still felt reluctant to accept it.
Ray, who saw her expression, put down his chopsticks and, under the puzzled gazes of Liu Yuqing and Zhao Zhirou, walked to the living room sofa, took out a tablet from his backpack, and returned to the kitchen,
"Jarvis, bring up the video from last night related to the bridge over the river."
