Chapter 20 - Taking Control of the Supermarket!

As Ray made his way to the control room, he naturally heard the pleas for mercy coming from behind him, but he didn't pay them any mind. He believed that Liu Yuqing could handle the situation on her own.

The control room was a space of about twenty square meters. To the right of the entrance, on the wall, there were more than a dozen monitors displaying surveillance footage. Below these monitors was a control panel that could switch the display between the different floors' surveillance.

On the left side, there was a sofa and a coffee table for employee breaks. Furthermore, at the very back, there were a few more monitors, all showing the supermarket entrance.

After entering the control room, Ray casually looked around, took out his smartphone, and approached the control panel.

"Jarvis, how do I establish a connection?"

"Sir, you will need a USB cable," Jarvis replied.

"A USB cable?"

Ray raised an eyebrow, "That shouldn't be hard to find. The staff in the control room should have one."

Saying that, his gaze swept across the room, and finally, in a corner, he found a charger still plugged into the power outlet.

"Got it!"

He walked over, unplugged the charger, and removed the USB cable, saying, "Jarvis, is this the right one?"

"Yes, sir," Jarvis responded.

"What's next?" Ray asked, connecting one end of the cable to his smartphone.

"Insert the other end into the USB port on the control panel."

Ray returned to the side of the control panel, searched for a bit, and then inserted the other end of the cable.

Since all the surveillance equipment, including the power system, was wired and there was no network, it was only after connecting with the cable that control could be established.

Once the control panel and smartphone were connected via the cable, Jarvis immediately started to implant programs through the connection.

During this time, Ray also had to input commands one by one through the keyboard.

However, the whole process didn't take too long, just about three to four minutes, and he successfully took control of all the supermarket's surveillance and power systems.

At this point, he fully understood the situation of the supermarket. It turned out that the supermarket did have an elevator, but it had already been destroyed by San Ge and his people.

They probably feared that the sound of the elevator would attract zombies, and when the elevator doors opened, it would lead to a horde of them.

Moreover, the elevator doors indeed posed a risk of uncertainty. If a zombie accidentally pressed the elevator button and came up, it would be troublesome.

Besides, he checked the various floors of the supermarket through the surveillance and confirmed that there were no survivors left inside.

The zombies outside the north gate, after causing some trouble without success, gradually wandered off.

Noticing this, Ray said, "Jarvis, you can now bring the armored vehicle to park in front of the supermarket."

As soon as he finished speaking, feeling somewhat uneasy, he added, "Right, try to keep it as quiet as possible, don't attract too much attention from the zombies."

This way, it would not only create a barrier outside the north gate but also allow for a quick departure in any sudden situation.

"Okay, sir," Jarvis responded.

The next moment, the armored vehicle, which Jarvis had hidden in a small alley outside the supermarket, started up under Jarvis's control, left the alley, and slowly made its way towards the supermarket with minimal noise.

During the process, it inevitably attracted the attention of a small number of zombies, but they were easily crushed by the armored vehicle.

This allowed him to gain another twenty-plus points. Thus, combined with the fifty-plus points he had earned earlier by creating noise to attract zombies, he now had over 200 points!

A few minutes later, under Jarvis's control, the armored vehicle successfully parked at the north entrance. Although a few zombies kept lunging at the armored vehicle, they couldn't cause any damage to it.

Shifting his gaze away from the monitor at the north entrance, he saw Liu Yuqing coming his way, carrying that watermelon knife, which was once again stained with fresh blood.

Ray glanced at her and asked, "All taken care of?"

"Yep," Liu Yuqing nodded. "Thrown down."

Hearing her response, Ray looked her over and smiled slightly, "Honestly, I'm surprised. I thought you'd just beat them up to vent your anger and then let them fend for themselves."

Liu Yuqing pursed her lips, "If they were lucky enough to survive, they would definitely cause us trouble later. It's better to deal with them now, just like you said, the world has changed. If they don't die, it means our death in the future."

Listening to her, Ray's lips curved up slightly, pleased with her thorough understanding.

"It's good you think this way. It's getting late, and after all the work, I'm hungry. Let's get something to eat!"

Saying this, they left the control room and headed to a restaurant on the fifth floor.

"Okay!"

Blushing at Ray's praise, Liu Yuqing immediately agreed and followed him.

The fifth floor still had plenty of food, as half of this area was occupied by restaurants.

Ray took Liu Yuqing into a barbecue restaurant and, after ensuring it was safe, went into the kitchen, where he easily found a large amount of ingredients.

After all, the apocalypse had erupted in the morning, and many of the fresh ingredients prepared by the restaurant for today had hardly been touched.

As for cooking, Ray, who had lived alone in his previous life, naturally found it easy.

Moreover, all the ingredients were already prepared, and the kitchen was fully equipped.

Ray didn't worry about wasting food, since these ingredients would spoil quickly if not used.

Thus, he took almost all the ingredients he found in the kitchen, cooking some and asking Liu Yuqing to take some to the barbecue table.

After being busy for more than half an hour, the two sat at the barbecue table, grilling and eating.

Meanwhile, Ray also brought over a TV from the kitchen staff's break room.

"Hmm? No signal?"

Eating a skewer and holding the remote control, Ray wanted to check the news outside, but after switching through a dozen channels, all he found was static.

"No signal?"

Liu Yuqing, who was watching, was slightly surprised.

Logically, there should be a signal, especially since mobile phones still had service.

Could this mean that the situation outside was possibly worse than imagined?
