Chapter 28 - An Important Conversation

With Duke Pennel's promise, Seth used his interrogation skills and quickly found out what this follower of Giles knew.

When Seth had finished gathering information from this person, Dax and Atlas returned with the other two who had tried to escape, both unconscious.

Seth looked at his companions, indicating that they had done well, but when he looked at Felicity and the blonde beauty's father, he couldn't help but express concern.

"We've neutralized all the infiltrators in your family, but we couldn't do it before they send word of Felicity's return to their companions." Seth got right to the point.

He and his group had acted as soon as Felicity had asked them to deal with the infiltrators. But between her return and the moment these people fell, more than one infiltrator had already sent information to their group.

"These people's group will soon know about Felicity's return and our temporary partnership. They will probably deduce how these men fell." Seth pointed to the dead in the area.

The Duke and his wife looked at the leader of the infiltrators while this man felt sick after having his mind scanned by Seth.

Seth's power could generate terrible effects on the minds of his victims. However, his target could survive long enough to understand reality sometimes.

This man had managed to survive Seth's action, and now he stared in horror at the being that looked harmless from afar but hid a monster within.

This man was a King stage warrior, but he still couldn't help but feel like an insect in front of a mountain in the face of Seth's power.

Soul cultivators often had more power than martial artists like him. But even so, the difference shouldn't be that big!

He was trembling with fear, not of what the Pennel Family members might do to him, but of what might happen to him and everyone he knew for possibly standing in the way of that existence.

'Shit! We're screwed!' He thought to himself, but he didn't say anything, not daring to displease the being in front of him.

"What do we do now, father?" Felicity looked doubtfully at her old man.

If the enemies had already been warned, they should expect attacks soon!

The Duke looked at Seth and asked. "What else have you found out, Senior O'Brian?"

Seth walked to a more comfortable area of the estate, soon leaving behind the non-essential people who were observing the previous situation.

He sat down on a sofa and replied to Duke Pennel. "The one called Giles sent these infiltrators into your family to sabotage your plans and leak information not only to Giles' own group but also to other enemies and rivals of yours.

Giles wanted to make it look like your enemies were someone other than him, so you would let your guard down, and he would have a public justification for occupying your position after you died."

"Damn you, Giles!" Duke Pennel growled while Felicity was furious at the betrayal of a member of her family.

"He planned to kidnap Felicity to get you to turn against other groups, thus weakening two of his targets," Seth commented. "But after they failed to kidnap Felicity, they were already planning another action against your group."

"What were they planning?" Grace asked.

"An attack on one of their properties during the auction scheduled to take place in ten days. They planned to divide your people and act after the auction." Seth replied.

"Is there any chance of that still happening after all this?" The Duke's wife asked.

Seth said nothing as his companions stood silently watching this family's situation.

The Duke then said. "There is no way they can stick to their previous plans. It would be too bold to do so after we caught them in the act."

"But there's no guarantee Giles will feel that way," Felicity said as she suggested another possibility to her father. "Think about it, they don't know we got help from someone like Seth!

All they'll know from the infiltrators' messages is that a group of people capable of helping us escape the previous problem came here with Grace and me. But the discovery of the infiltrators in the family could have nothing to do with Seth's people. On the other hand, maybe Giles is confident that his people would never leak information.

If my idea is right, maybe he'll still move against us as planned!'

The Duke and the few people he trusted with him, his daughter and wife, considered Felicity's words possible.

"Let us prepare to act during the auction. But leave the family prepared to deal with the problems associated with the traitor Giles. If they come after us in the next few days, we'll give the bastards a big surprise!"

So Seth and his group spent their first night in Rosecoast.

They would not be involved in the deeper plans of the Pennel family group and would soon be led to the area of the estate where they could stay while in this city.

The following day, Duke Pennel would call Seth alone into his office after a night full of urgent problems for him to solve.

...

"Senior O'Brian, please sit here." The Duke said as he smiled at the tanned, black-haired man dressed in the typical warrior garb of the dynasty.

Seth sat down and soon heard a few words of thanks from Felicity's father before the man got down to business.

"So, what are you doing in Rosecoast? Felicity told me you and your group don't know the area well and are looking for information."

Seth nodded affirmatively before answering without explaining everything he and his people would have said before passing through Lastwood. "We don't know the area and are looking for information."

"What exactly are you looking for?" The Duke asked with an expression as if he wanted to answer all of Seth's questions.

"First of all, we need basic information about the Rosecoast area, the local powers, and interesting places nearby." He said since one of his group's missions was to find ways to increase their wealth.

They didn't want luxury or excessive amenities in their lives. But only by having resources could they access certain places and information.

Seth continued. "Also, we're looking for a relatively powerful group. We've heard rumors that this group passed through Werton Province recently. I was wondering if you knew anything about them?"

Seth placed on the Duke's desk some drawings he had made inspired by what he had seen on Giant Island on the fateful day the 20 survivors of the Misty Woods Tribe fled.

Looking at Seth's various drawings, Duke Pennel fell into deep thought.
