"How are you, mother-in-law? Is everything alright?" Elizabeth asked Abigail, while Angelica was with Haytham.
"Thanks for the care. I'm fine. Jax left me a lot of different potions, and instructed me on how to use them, if some emergency occurred. Also, thanks to regeneration, I don't need to care about injuries." She smiled and took a sip of tea. Abigail saw that Elizabeth was nervous.
"I know what you want to ask. I don't have information from Jax. I think he tells you more than me. Does he love his wife more than his own mother?" Abigail acted as if she was deeply hurt, but deep inside she was happy. 'So his trust in her is so deep. Well, at least she knows she is loved from the beginning. Compared to his father, he is doing that from the start.'
"I didn't visit you only for that mother-in-law, I." Elizabeth wanted to explain, but Abigail stopped her.
"Elizabeth, you are a queen. You rule our kingdom, and I understand that you don't have time to visit us often. Jax is your priority. I can't tell you anything because I don't know what he is doing. I know for sure that he is doing something that will benefit you. Also, did you think, I don't have knowledge how many times, he sneaked during the night to go to the palace?" Elizabeth turned red. Jax visited her very often to keep her company, and was helping her with paper work. Abigail was having fun teasing Elizabeth.
"I didn't want to trouble you, mother-in-law." Elizabeth tried to explain herself.
"Ahh, yeah, you didn't like his company? It's not like, both of you sleep in the same room whenever you sleep here?" Elizabeth couldn't look Abigail in the eyes. Abigail shook her head, and ordered her butler to get the letter and the box. When he brought it, she gave it to Elizabeth. "He left you something. He said that after a month, I needed to give you this. Jax said only you can open the letter and the box." Elizabeth wanted to come back to the palace immediately.
"Mother in law, I need." Abigail stopped her once again.
"Yeah, yeah, I know. Go open the letter and box from your love in privacy." Abigail waved her head. Elizabeth nodded, and run embarrassed to the carriage. A few minutes later, Haytham came back with Angelica in his arms, and gave her to Abigail.
"She already left?" Asked surprised Haytham. Abigail nodded.
"Jax already wrapped her around his finger. When I gave her, the letter from him and the box. She wanted to immediately run away, to open it." Abigail explained.
"Do you think Jax and her did something already?" Haytham asked. Abigail shook her head.
"Nah, the only thing they did is holding hands or hugging. I think for them, Jax body is a big problem. I don't want to imagine what Elizabeth feel when she wants to kiss him, but he has the body of a child." Abigail felt sorry for them, because they can't express all emotions.
...
"Items are checked, everything is correct. Here is your reward, 5 gold coins." Liz put 5 gold coins on the counter. Max put them into his bag.
"When I can try for diamond rank?" Max during one month went from silver to gold. It wasn't that hard, he only needed to do 10 gold quests solo or with a team, and then fight diamond adventurer to gain it. Liz shook her head.
"It will be hard, for that you not only need 10 diamond quests, but also recommendation letter from guild master of this branch. And after that you need to fight orichalcum rank adventurer. The first and last thing, aren't that hard, but getting a recommendation letter is, but." Liz leaned towards Max, and with a flirtatious face added." I can try to ask him about it, if you buy me a dinner." She proposed. Max however took a step back.
"I don't need that, I will do everything myself." He shook his head, and took another diamond quest." I want this quest" Liz sat back with a disappointed face, but she registered the quest under Max name. Max searched for a caravan, because that quest would take him a week to arrive by horse, so it would be easier and safer to go with a caravan. He walked to the area where inns were placed.
"We search for people that want to come to fire city" one man yelled.
"We search for guards during travel towards earth city." Other man yelled. Max found the caravan a few minutes later.
"You are going to stone city?" Max asked to verify. The old man looked at him and nodded.
"Yeah, we are. If you want to come with us, pay 1 gold." Max show the man his gold plate." Ohh gold rank adventurer, in that case you don't need to pay, anything. We are delighted to have you on board. We will start our journey, in three days." Max nodded. Paying was a thing that only normal people must do, because they are essentially a burden for caravan, but adventurer are people who can help in protecting or setting camps etc. Max went towards the blacksmith shop. When he entered he felt the warm of the fire, and smell of metal. A few moments later, a dwarf appeared. His skin was tanned from the fire, and he had bulging muscles.
"So, what do you want?" Dwarf asked without any pleasantries.
"I need a war hammer. Medium size. It should be enough to handle a high grade monster. The enchantment of lightweight will be welcomed. Do you have something like that?" Max asked. Dwarf stroked his beard. And disappeared in the shop. Few minutes he returned with a 2m long war hammer. It had the head of the hammer on both sides. It didn't have any patterns on it. The weapon was a plain war hammer, but Max was able to tell it was high quality.
"5 gold." Max took the war hammer in his hand, and waved it a few times.
"It doesn't have lightweight enchantment."
"No it doesn't" dwarf shook his head.
"How much for adding it in three days?" Max asked.
"It's impossible to do that in three days" Dwarf answered.
"10 gold" Max said.
"It's impossible." Dwarf shook his head again.
"15 gold"
"Impossible."
"20 gold."
"Fine, I will do that."
"Can you also add explosive enchantment on both sides in three days." The veins on the dwarf forehead popped out.
"Are you a fucking idiot?! It's impossible to do that in three days. I would need to create pathways, and ensure everything is stable." Dwarf yelled at Max.
"30 gold."
"Pay it now." Dwarf said. Max took a pouch with money and handed it to the dwarf. The dwarf then took the war hammer back into the forge, while cursing.
"Fucking human. Fuck him, and his family. Fuck this." Max just shook his head. And went to the inn.
....
"So how are you, Elizabeth? Sorry I can't be here, but the contents of the box should help you." Elizabeth was unhappy, that he didn't write anything else, but she was also curious how the box could help her. She opened it, and saw that inside the wooden doll is placed.
"How can a doll, make not seeing my husband better?" She asked herself, but then she doll started to move. It didn't have any features, but soon enough it started to change, and few moments later it became small copy of Jax.
"Oh hello Elizabeth, long time no see. You are for sure surprised, but ask any question." Doll moved it mouth and spoke with the voice of Jax.
"So what are you? Are you really a Jax? Or you are just some machine." She asked. She wasn't shocked. Elizabeth spend too much time with Jax to be shocked with his creations. Doll climbed the box, and sat on the table.
"Technically I am, and also I'm not. Jax used the soul of someone, and changed it. My soul is an exact copy of Jax's. Although I don't have Jax's powers or skills, also, he programmed me to protect you until my death. I will help you with paper work, talk with you etc. Also, everything that I see, and hear is transmitted to Jax." Doll explained. Elizabeth wasn't quite happy that this doll wasn't her Jax, but she was a little happy to have at least this Jax.
"Can you communicate with him?" Elizabeth placed the doll on her hand. The doll shook his head.
"I can't. It's only a one way communication. There a lot more limitation, put on me. Jax intend was other than to keep you company and help you. Is to teach you about his original world." Doll answered.
...
Three days later, Max went to blacksmith. A few minutes later a dwarf appeared, he had bags under his eyes, and was pissed off when he saw Max.
"What about my weapon?" Max asked. The dwarf went into his workshop, and brought it. He then handed it to the Max.
"Here's your damned weapon. Don't come here again." Dwarf threw Max from the shop.
Max went to the carriage owner.
"We are finishing preparation. It should take an hour before we go." Owner replied. Max nodded, took a sit inside the caravan, and waited.
