Chapter 1 - Summoned

Congratulations

150 inhabited planets of the Milky Way were invited to participate in the "Lord of the Milky Way" contest. Your planet is among them.

Participating in the "Lord of the Milky Way" contest combines high risk with high reward. Death is final and highly probable for most participants.

The allowed ratio of participants per planet is from 2.71828% to 15.15426%.

Population of planet "Earth": 8 090 217 241

Number of participants: from 219 914 905 to 1 226 012 737 people.

The option to choose between "Join the Contest" and "Return to Earth" will be available to you in the next few minutes. The options will be disabled initially.

Selecting "Return to Earth" will return you to your planet and your memory of this event will be erased.

To increase survivability, "Return to Earth" will be activated in priority for the most vulnerable people, while healthy, skilled or strong people will receive "Join the Contest" activated first.

The "Join the Contest" option will be activated for everyone when 84.84573% of humans have returned to Earth.

The "Return to Earth" option will be activated for everyone when 2.71828% of people decide to enter the contest.

If you do not make your selection before the time limit expires, it will be selected automatically.

More information will be provided after the selection has been made by all people.

We wish you good luck.

...

"Whaaat?"

Most people thought of it the moment the text appeared before their eyes in the air including Ondra Canali.

Just a few minutes ago, Ondra had a sharp argument with his superior and decided to resign.

The frustration of the last few months had finally driven him to action, but instead of relief, he was now overwhelmed with stress and fear at the content of the message that appeared out of nowhere.

He felt like to be floating in an empty white room. There was nothing to see when he looked around, just the announcement he read again and again to understand what's going on.

'I think my choice is clear. I have a few relatives, but no family of my own. With no further plans, I quit my job. I'm sure a few of my friends without family will probably decide to stay and try their luck.'

The selection window has not yet appeared, but Ondra is deep in thought about which option he will choose.

'Competing with a billion people from Earth and many more from other planets will not be easy. I may lose my life... but what kind of life awaits me if I return? Working 10 or more hours a day just to not be poor? Is this even life?'

Every second he was more and more determined to join the contest.

While Ondra was evaluating his life, the information in front of him changed.

[Make your choice.]

[Join the Contest] [Return to Earth]

[Competitors: 0 / 0%]

[Returnees: 0 / 0%]

[Population: 8 090 217 241 / 100%]

Both buttons have been disabled.

The numbers started changing within seconds. The number of returnees grew much faster than the number of competitors.

When the number of returnees reached 1 billion, the buttons were still disabled.

'Does that mean I'm so weak that the system doesn't offer me any options yet?'

Ondra began to doubt his decision to join the contest when the "Join Contest" button suddenly activated.

[Make your choice.]

[Join the Contest] [Return to Earth]

[Competitors: 45 165 785 / 0.55%]

[Returnees: 1 498 188 377 / 18.51%]

[Population: 6 546 863 079 / 80.92%]

'I still have time. Let's try to think about it again before I make a final decision. How many people will join and risk their lives? Probably just the required minimum, there are many people with families who will not risk their lives.'

The numbers keep changing while Ondra weighed the pros and cons.

By the minute, the number of people to confirm their choice was decreasing, but still he did not press the button.

Suddenly, the second button was also activated. A 5 minute countdown also appeared.

Ondra looked at the values for each option and raised his hand with a deep breath.

"I will trust my intuition and try my luck."

After pressing the "Join Contest" button, the screen changed.

Wait until the selection is complete.

"Did I make the right decision?"

Ondra asked out loud, as if waiting for someone to answer him.

It only took another 3 or 4 minutes for all the people to complete their selections, but Ondra was uneasy and nervous. He was undecided about the choice he made.

But it was too late to change that. He himself was waiting for what would happen next.

Thank you

420 717 652 people decided to participate in the contest "Lord of the Milky Way".

7 669 499 589 people returned to Earth.

The rules of the contest will be explained to you soon.

"More than 420 million. It's more than I expected."

Through the tutorial, we will introduce you to the main functions.

Everything will be in your hands after completing the tutorial.

You will be randomly assigned to the dimensional plane of the Milky Way. You get initial resources and settlers.

All the people who chose "Return to Earth" have already been returned, but artificial copies of them have been created.

Half of them will be available as settlers and villagers and can join you if you meet them.

The other half have turned into barbarians and will be hostile towards you.

If subjects are killed, they will respawn and join another camp, villagers will join barbarians, while killed barbarians will respawn as villagers.

If the Lord is killed, then an artificial copy of him or her will be created and follow the same principles, starting with the barbarian.

Once the planet's population reaches 2 trillion, the respawn option is disabled.
