Mia
I was heading home when I bumped into someone at the hospital entrance, she was heading in.
She looked familiar but I couldn't recall where I had seen her.
"I'm sorry" I apologized
"Next time watch where you go" she replied. I could see annoyance written all over her face
I didn't answer back. I just hurried home to rest after the long hours at work and the hospital
I rummaged my back in search of my phone and sent a text to Logan.
"You told my mum that I was your girlfriend" I sent
"News travels fast around Colorado these days" He replied almost instantly like he was expecting my text
"What were you even doing at the hospital?" I sent again
"Why didn't you tell me about your mum?" he sent his reply
"It was none of your concern, why did you have to go snooping around about my personal affairs?" I sent another text
"We have worked together. I needed to know who I was making an agreement with" he sent
"Relax, you have quite the temper. Your mother asked me to treat you like a princess but how can I do that when you act so aggressive all the time, like a wild cat" he sent through his text
"Me acting like a wild cat?, how about I scratch that face of yours?" I lashed out through a text message
I was pissed, he's so irritating.
"I will send you an address, meet me there at 5 in the evening" he texted but I could still imagine his dictatorial voice in my head ordering me.
I sighed after reading it but I didn't send him any reply.
He already paid for services that I hadn't rendered yet so I decided to go to the said venue anyway, but that would be after I take a nap.

Logan
I waited for Mia in the hotel room I had booked.
I went to get the door opened when I heard a knock on the door.
"I called you several times, you could have at least sent a text saying you were occupied or something" I scolded
"I haven't even taken up the fake girlfriend role yet, you are already pissing me off" she said before removing a cigarette and trying to light it.
"Give me that" I said seizing it from her hands
"What's your problem? give that back" She became furious
She moved forward to battle for her cigarette but I got hold of her hand and missed my step in the process of the struggle and fell on the bed with her following right after on my chest.
Her face was so close to mine. I never saw her face this close before.
I could see tiredness all over her face. I wished I could make her feel better without coming off as a creep.
"See what you did" she said trying to get off me
"Did you get any sleep at all?" I asked her
"I took a nap a while ago, that's why I didn't see your calls" she said
"You should cease smoking" I said instead
"I smoke only when I'm stressed-out" she said
"I think this week has been the worst for me" she said again. I didn't say anything or try to interrupt her because I knew she had more to say.
"I'm so exhausted. There was work, the launching of the new product, mom is sick and now I have to fake being your girlfriend" she said in a quiet tone
That was a lot for one little girl to handle.
"Come here" I stretched my left hand towards her but she hesitated
"Come on, I won't bite" I urged her
She didn't take my hand but she moved and sat near me on the bed
"You need to stop smoking. It's bad for your health and you are still so young" I told her
"What do I do when I'm stressed or pissed?" she asked me
I didn't know what to say.
"Call me instead anytime you feel the need to smoke" I said placing a hand over hers.
It was awkward for me but it felt nice. I felt the need to protect her. I wanted to be there for Mia, to take care of her.
What is this feeling.
"Why did you want us to meet here?" she asked me
She was trying to make the environment less awkward but I didn't care.
"If you want I can postpone the launch. I mean your mum's surgery is scheduled for two days after the launch, you need all the time" I said to her
"No you can't do that. I have not put in too much work just to have it postponed" she said
"Ok, if that's what you desire" I said
"How did you know about the date for mum's surgery?" She asked me
"Connor" I smiled
"I almost forgot, what did you do to them?" She asked me
"By them you mean, Connor and your mom?" I asked her
"Yes" she said
"Nothing, they just like that your boyfriend is so handsome and caring" I taunted her
"You are such a creep" she said
"I will be there with you" I told her and she made this face that I found to be very cute.
"I'm serious" I said trying to assure her
"You don't have to. I can handle it and Connor is there with me" she sa
I had to change the subject.
"I told Selena I already had a girlfriend, she will do everything to keep us apart" I said
"We aren't really together" she laughed
"Yeah right" I said
"I'm just saying she'll be wasting her time trying to stop something that isn't even there" she said and laughed again
It was supposed to be amusing but for some reasons it wasn't for me.
"You are right" I smiled and played along
"She's going to make life tough for you, that's why I chosed you.you are tough" I told her
"Is that a compliment?" She asked me
"Whatever it means to you" I told her
She was quiet again for a while
"What if she's crazy and it gets ugly. Like she harms me or kidnaps me something of that sort" she asked me
"Relax, I don't think something like that will happen" I comforted her but she just shrugged her shoulders
"I'm very certain, she'll be at the launch so stay alert" I told her again
"So what's the essence of all this? just keeping Selena away from you?" She asked me
"I don't really know the plan in the long run, but this is what I need for now. I need to gather my shit together and you'll be helping me to buy some time" I told her with all sincerity
"I'll help you then" she said
"You ought to, I already paid you" I said and watched as the colour of her face chsnged
"You asshole" I hear her say before she got up
"Hey, that was supposed to be a joke. I'm sorry, come back here" I begged her
"Try something funnier next time" she said
"I said I'm sorry" I repeated
"I didn't say it was okay" she said
"Did you study the file I sent you?" I asked her when she came back
"I haven't looked at most of the details, I merely glanced at it" she told me and I understood
"I guarantee she will be there, please check the file" I asked nicely
"Ok" she simply said
"Good luck with the launch, Mia" I said
"Thank you Logan" she said
"I thought I was your boss" I teased her
"Only at work, besides I already called you by your name during that blind dinner date" she said
"You little arrogant Mia" I said through my teeth
She smiled at me then moved to the door
"Hold on, I'll give you a lift" I told her
"No need, I'm not heading home right now. I'm going to the hospital and that direction opposes yours" she told me
"I don't see any problem. I said I'll drop you off so let me, even if you are visiting the next city now I'll still drop you off because that's what I said" I told her
"Ok boss" she said and that made me chuckle
We left the hotel room and got into the car.
"Logan, I have seen her" Mia said when we were on the road
"Where? that's Selena" I told her
"Yes, I bumped into her at the hospital today. I kept thinking where I knew her from. I must have seen her picture in this file you sent me" she said showing me Selena's picture from her phone
"What was she doing there, does she know me already?" she panicked
"No. I'm not sure, she told me she was sick, was she telling the truth?" I asked
"She told you. You guys already talked?" she asked me and I could feel accusations in her voice
"Yessss…..we met. I mean she asked to see me you know, so I went" I said
"You don't need to explain yourself, it's your life" she said
"Although, I don't understand why you are trying to keep her away from you when you already went to meet her. Do why are we even doing this?" she flared up
"You won't understand so calm down. What's with the attitude?" I asked
"Attitude, you love her. You don't even want to leave her, you are just putting a facade" she yelled at me
"Lower your voice, you are so disrespectful. Just because I find you worthy of doing something for me doesn't mean you have to be arrogant. I am weigh older than you are" I said and I know I said too much, maybe because I was angry she was telling the truth.
"Stop the car, you are so full of shit" she yelled again
"Ican't stop the car in the middle of the road. Alright, I'm sorry about the things I said" I told her
"No you are not" she said
"Fine, I'm not sorry but I won't stop the car. I will take you to your mum safe and sound. I said
She didn't say anything anymore. she faced the other side and looked out the window till we reached our destination.
