Prince Aaron was seated with his head tilted to the side, looking out the window, patiently waiting for someone. He had arrived at the air force base that afternoon, after making sure that Captain Jones' schedule was free. He was looking forward to meet her, but at the same time he really hoped she would not brush him off like she did to her other suitors before this. Unknown to him, his presence in the guests lounge had attracted many curious looks, especially the female officers. Those who were more familiar with the royal families of Northernlands knew who he was and therefore, was curious as to why this handsome prince was here at the base.
Ignoring the small group of people who gathered near the guests lounge, Captain Emelia Jones rushed in, and her beautiful brown eyes quickly spotted Prince Aaron seated calmly, looking out of the window. Suddenly Emelia Jones's head felt light and she had to steady herself by holding onto a nearby chair, lest she might collapse. She took a couple to deep breaths with her eyes closed, trying to calm herself down. She had ran all the way from the dormitory after she received a call from her father, informing her to immediately go to the guests lounge to meet her intended fiancé. She was shocked at first but being a disciplined person, she quickly brushed that feeling aside and immediately set off to meet this unknown person.
Her father didn't tell her who that person was, but only told her to be polite, even if she found him disagreeable. With this reminder in place, she had rushed here, not wanting to keep the other party waiting too long.
"Are you alright, Captain Jones?" Suddenly a soft voice spoke up, while a pair of hands were holding her arms lightly, clearly with restraint only to help her steady herself.
Emelia Jones opened her eyes and met with the most beautiful pair of grey eyes she had ever seen. The eyes were so clear that she could see her reflections in them. She was stunned and couldn't react on time.
"Captain Jones?" The beautiful man asked again.
This time, Emelia Jones came to her senses and quickly replied with a smile, "Yes, I'm fine, thank you."
"Good to know. I'm sorry for intruding and coming unannounced. I'm Aaron Wright Vern Dupont. It's a real pleasure to meet you, Captain Emelia Jones." Prince Aaron said, smiling at her.
Again, Emelia Jones was struck speechless, she was captivated by his beautiful smile. He was so handsome and he looked familiar too. 'Wait, Vern Dupont?!'
"My apologies Your Highness, I didn't recognize you just now." Captain Emelia Jones quickly straightened her body and raised her right hand, intending to salute him as a sign of respect to this nobleman.
"Please, no need such formality, at least not from you, Emelia." Prince Aaron said while quickly went forward to stop her.
After that, he led her to the table where he was seated earlier and pulled out a chair for her. After ensuring she had settled down, he sat in front of her.
"So, what do you think of me? Can you accept me as your husband?" Prince Aaron didn't waste any time and quickly said out whatever that was on his mind earlier.
Pffftt! Captain Emelia Jones was not expecting that at all and she accidentally chocked on the water that she was drinking.
"Cough, cough! What?" She asked with her eyes wide opened.
"Haha, how adorable. Emelia, my family has sent a marriage proposal to your father, for your hands in marriage. I know you have a certain standards or expectations for your partner in life, and I respect that. I am here today to meet you and to properly introduce myself. I apologize, my question must've caused a shock to you. I thought you knew the reason I'm here." Prince Aaron explained to Emelia Jones, silently cursing himself for causing her to be startled for no reason.
"Yes, my dad did mention I am to meet my intended fiancé, but I didn't think it would be you, Prince Aaron. I apologize for my reaction just now. I didn't mean anything by it." Emelia Jones quickly reacted and composed herself. She was seriously not herself today. 'What's wrong with me! I just can't be normal around this guy.'
"No worries. I understand. So, may I know if you have any questions for me?" Prince Aaron tried not to stare at this beauty's gorgeous lips, fearing he wouldn't be able to resist the temptation to kiss her there and then.
Usually, Emelia Jones had lots of questions for any man who dared to come near her. And most of the time, they would not be able to answer any of her 'preliminary questions' and gave up pursuing her. But now, when faced with this hunk before her, nothing came to mind. In the end, she blurted out a single question for him before she could stop herself.
"Why do you want to marry me?"
Prince Aaron chuckled and answer lightly, "Because it's you."
Emelia Jones's heart trembled at his simple but yet, the most endearing answer one could say to her. No one had ever loved her for who she truly was, except for her father and her brother. Yet, here a man, who was to be her intended fiancé and husband, made such a proclamation. She wondered if he truly knew her in order for him to even like her.
"But you don't know me."
"I do know you. I know you're the one for me the moment I laid my eyes on you, Emelia. There's no one else I wish to marry but you. Now that you've met me, do you think you can accept me?" Prince Aaron sincerely implored.
Emelia Jones looked at the man sitting before her, studying his exquisite facial features, and a voice inside her told her that this person was the one for her and she should accept him wholeheartedly. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, she released a long sigh and answered with a sweet smile,
"Yes, I do." Just a simple three words coming from her made Prince Aaron shook with happiness.
"YES!" He almost jumped up in joy and shouted but regained his composure immediately. He cleared his throat to mask his embarrassment and coughed lightly.
"That's good to know. Our parents would be delighted."
Emelia Jones laughed at this prince's silliness and heaved a sigh of relief. The awkwardness between them gradually decreased and they continued chatting like old friends.
After the meet, both families were informed of the bride's decision and immediately went ahead to plan a grand wedding. After all, this would be the first wedding for both families and therefore, a grand wedding would be fitting, not to mention old King Stefan himself had inadvertently included himself in the plan, being so excited to see his beloved grandchild got married finally.
