Chapter 42 - A Dark Feast?

Sam looked at the sea of fire in the warehouse, shook his head to clear it, and then grabbed two bottles of dry ice spray to extinguish the flames.

Soon, the fire in the warehouse was dealt with. Scarface, the thug who fired his gun before dying, and the others were all charred, even blown to pieces.

As for the supplies in the warehouse... they were mostly ruined.

Inside the warehouse, most of the living supplies, food, and drinks had their packaging destroyed by the explosion or were burnt to a crisp.

However, aside from what was in the warehouse, there were some supplies piled up in the living room. After sorting them out, there was still quite a lot!

At least, they couldn't all be taken away in his RV in one go.

"Does this count as dark feasting upon dark?"

Sam looked bemused. The thugs killed innocent people, he killed the thugs, and ultimately, the supplies moved from the hands of survivors to the hands of thugs, and finally to Sam's hands!

Sam was no saint; he wouldn't pass up on these supplies for nothing!

"Let it be, time to rest for a bit!"

He came back to his senses, found a chair to sit down, and started to rest slowly.

It was only when he sat down that he felt it. His body had been tense, his organs and tissues actively enduring pain and fatigue. But now, as he relaxed, his entire body screamed in pain.

Arms, legs, upper body, lower body, there was no place without pain!

He had run away in time from the dust explosion, but the aftermath still shook him. Rolling on the ground in his steel armor didn't help either.

He wasn't seriously injured, but he did sustain some minor ones.

"Thank goodness for my fire-resistant radiation suit!"

Sam looked at his armor and clothes. The steel armor was practically ruined; the multiple thin steel plates were already shattered by the thugs' shotguns, and the explosion had torn it apart even more. It would be easier to make a new one than to repair it.

As for the super-fiber material fire-resistant radiation suit, it was virtually unscathed, with not a single damage from the flames.

In the cold, quiet living room, Sam rested quietly. After a while, he picked up his tablet to control the drone to return.

He had stormed in, obviously not carrying the fragile tech device with him, so it remained undamaged.

...

Boom—!!!

An explosion!

The loud noise from upstairs startled Han Xiaowu, leaving her uncertain.

"What happened?"

"Was a gas cylinder ignited?"

She hesitated.

Logically, this was the time to escape in the confusion and seek official protection.

She knew, whether it was those malicious thugs or that mysterious man, neither was something she could afford to provoke.

The danger of the thugs was undeniable, the man who came to kill the thugs seemed to be on my side, but in reality, whether he was good or bad remained a question!

But... if the thugs were dealt with by that formidable man, my grandmother's body...

"My grandmother always told me her wish was to be buried in peace!"

"I'll just take a look! From afar, if the thugs won, I'll leave immediately; if that mysterious person won, I'll go over and talk to him."

Han Xiaowu thought for a moment, She hadn't interacted much with Sam, but from the jokes he made upon meeting and his decisive actions afterward, he didn't seem like a sleaze or a villain.

After thinking, she picked up a shotgun next to a body and found some homemade bullets, loaded them, and walked upstairs somewhat nervously, carefully looking around.

Not long ago, that was her home!

Bodies, signs of explosion, blackened doors, walls.

Han Xiaowu sneaked around, seeing no one!

"No one!?"

She took a deep breath, holding the shotgun cautiously as she went, peeking around as she observed her surroundings.

Soon, she saw the bodies of the thugs, her relatives, her grandmother!

Han Xiaowu's eyes reddened, and she hurried over to lift her grandmother's body from the ground, Seeing her grandmother's face covered in dark red bloodstains and footprints, she couldn't help but cry out, feeling a lump in her throat.

Then, her vision darkened!

Han Xiaowu was startled, looked up, and saw a fearsome large figure standing in front of her!

"I thought you were coming to sneak up on me."

Sam spoke calmly,

"Is this your relative?"

"My grandmother..."

Han Xiaowu put down the shotgun, signaling she meant no harm, and then explained: "My name is Han Xiaowu, I'm from this small shelter, this is my grandmother, that's my second uncle, my aunt..."

She pointed to several bodies, her expression darkening,

"The thugs tricked my grandmother and the others into opening the door, saying they only wanted half of the supplies. I tried to persuade them, but they wouldn't listen..."

Han Xiaowu was extremely sad, explaining the situation in bits and pieces.

After listening, Sam nodded and said, "Well, I guess I've avenged you. You don't have to worry about retaliation. I've counted, they all came out, and I killed."
