Chapter 19 - Ch. 19: Sacrifice

Opening the door, I found a girl tied up in knots at her feet and hands. She was lying on the floor.

On the floor was an altar with lit candles. It was like a demon summoning ritual!

Observing the girl's face, she had the typical face of Fontaine. Also her hair was adorned with fragrant flower-shaped ornaments.

Is she the daughter of that Mr. Gloomy-Faced?

While asking myself, I approached the girl. Squatting down, I untied the rope that bound her. She looked at me expectantly.

This girl looked young, maybe 15 or 16 years old. Her eyes glistened with cries for help. While her lips opened and closed but didn't speak a word.

Why would she lock up her own daughter...

I can't believe he locked her up. Why are all the people in Teyvat so crazy and insane? Are they pedophiles?

"What are you doing here?" I said softly, looking into her eyes.

"I was locked up... after Mum died." She paused, sobbing for a moment. Maybe she wanted to say a few more words.

But I was too reluctant to ask her to continue. So I waited until she calmed down.

"Father became strange."

At this point she fell silent.

Being strange... looking down while muttering that. I scanned the altar for a second time. Being strange...

Looking back at her, I saw that her eyes were now wide-eyed.

In the reflection of her eyes, I saw the Mr. Gloomy-faced standing with a revolver poised sharply in his hand.

The dim light in the room cast sharp shadows on his face.

His gaze was piercing, splitting the space. His revolver, pointed straight at me!

Seeing him about to squeeze the trigger, my heartbeat raced, accompanying the tension that seized every fibre of my body.

As soon as the trigger was pressed, the world seemed to spin at an unfathomable speed.

In an instant, I felt a gust of wind rustle against the side of my face as I turned my head in an incredible reflex.

Also, at the same time I felt electricity travelling along my nerves, causing tingles and tingling flutters on my skin.

Electro Vision functioned simultaneously with my avoidance reflex!

In that instant, I managed to dodge the bullet. However, regardless of whether I survived, a tragic scene unfolded before my eyes as soon as I turned my head towards the girl.

The child, with a face still radiating beauty, was suddenly hit in the head by a bullet.

Her body lay helplessly on the floor, where a pool of terrifying red blood began to flow, littering the altar.

The girl's body drooped weakly on the altar surface.

In an instant, the world seemed to stop spinning, and I was only able to wail.

At this moment, I heard Charlotte scream. She probably heard the gunshot and went straight upstairs.

Turning to the Mr. Gloomy-Faced, he looked at me with a cold, blank stare. Putting the revolver back in his pocket, instead of running away, he threw something towards the altar.

Two pieces of Hydro Vision!

"What are you trying to do!" I screamed.

The man then smiled. "Sacrifice."

After saying that, he turned around and fled towards the balcony.

Slowly, the man's presence grew fainter. He had gone away.

After turning my head towards the girl with compassion, I saw the two Visions thrown by the man who said sacrifice while running away like a coward.

The Visions were lit up! Both of them!

Also the same thing happened to the altar. It was glowing red as if it was affected by the Vision.

Feeling an uneasy feeling, the Electro Vision suddenly functioned and enveloped me with lightning elements.

After that I immediately rushed away from there! My direction was the balcony. My goal was not to capture that man, but to escape death!

When I reached the door, Charlotte was about to approach me. However, without hesitation, I turned and approached her with abnormal speed, enveloped by the elements of my Vision.

The sound of hurried footsteps accompanied my steps as I approached Charlotte. The atmosphere around me was tense, as if time had stopped for a moment when I decided to act.

My gaze met with Charlotte's confused look. "What happene-" But I didn't give her a chance to say anything. Her words were cut short.

I quickly carried her away in the princess's arms, before Charlotte could open her mouth to speak.

As I got closer to the balcony, I whispered to Charlotte.

"Use your Vision, we'll land from the second floor."

Charlotte was confused by my words, but she nodded anyway.

At this moment, Charlotte's body exuded a piercing cold aura, as if a grey mist was hovering around her, framing her firm yet fragile figure.

When I looked at her, I could feel the coldness flowing from her body, as if she was ice untouched by the light of the sun.

Her piercing gaze penetrated far away, revealing layers of mystery hidden beneath the wrinkles of her face sculpted by time.

As soon as I looked down, the ground suddenly turned into ice that bit sharply into my skin, shackling my steps and cruelly holding me down from the height.

I felt a bone-chilling chill, as if the ice flakes were fine needles piercing into my flesh, forcing me to feel an unspoken pain.

Embracing Charlotte like a princess, Charlotte and I were surrounded by an aura of lightning flashing with dazzling brilliance, depicting the power surging in the air.

Also, a cold aura emanated from Charlotte's body, filling the air with an inescapable freeze, as if we were a couple trapped in icy shackles that could not be separated.
