Chapter 9 - Ch. 9: I'm Sorry

Explosion. Threw her body back violently. Her face was covered in dust and dirt. Obscuring her natural beauty.

Tears rolled down her cheeks. Creating a shining water trail amidst the dirt.

Despair radiated from the look on her face. The deep pain of destruction.

I approached the girl. Slowly, the blue particles from my wrist. Transforming into a deadly weapon: a revolver.

The cold touch of metal fused my grip

I aim the revolver at the girl's head. My gaze is blank, piercing her sight.

Sunlight reflects off the metal plate. Creating sparkles. Dancing along the barrel.

"This is your revolver, isn't it? I'll borrow it for a while."

Man... I look like a villain.

Look how scared she is. Crying. Begging for mercy so I don't squeeze the trigger. I exhaled.

I was about to press the trigger. However, my hand froze instantly.

The sound of rage, echoing from the other side. I looked over. Who would have thought... what an unexpected sight.

My heart beat faster. This... is a demon. Rage surrounded him.

The sunlight shone on his expression, creating a frightening shadow.

A young man. He was enveloped by the wind. His eyes were bloodshot like he was possessed by a demon!

My hand holding the gun dangling in the air was silenced by the young man. How frightening!

(POV: William)

I ran over to the young man. He was alone now. The boss has separated them from each other.

Cavendish? He's already taken care of the girl to keep her out. This was a good opportunity after all.

The other Treasure Hoarders followed me. Not like Cavendish. Fighting that girl alone... or maybe not. He had the help of the boss in the back.

It was a powerful favor.

I stopped. Behind me also stopped.

My first glance was at Vision. I had always hoped to be chosen by the Archon... If only. The Vision resided on the front of the waist majestically, its bluish-green light radiating across the sky, traveling through time and space.

Then, I gazed at the young man with a stunned look. He was gasping for breath. His forehead and lips were linked. Adrift in a sea of worry that never subsided.

His left hand continued to suppress the bleeding. It seemed so easy for us to win... I exhaled.

We moved forward step by step. Walking carefully.

Even though his hands are covered in blood, that doesn't mean I should be rash. Remember, he's a Vision user. The one chosen by the Archon.

Carelessness could bring death.

At this moment, my eyes sparkling with enthusiasm, I felt a sudden idea slip into my mind like light breaking through dark clouds. We can attack from a long distance!

"Stop here. Let's attack from this distance!" I ordered.

They nodded in agreement. That made sense!

Moments later they swiftly prepared their bows and arrows.

A tense atmosphere enveloped us like a mist on a cold morning.

The bows were drawn, the arrows carefully fitted, ready to glide towards the young man.

"Don't do that," said the young man.

Maybe he was panicking... I thought so.

"I don't want to hurt you guys."

Was that a threat? I don't feel that way when I hear a person whose facial expression implies deep pain while holding his stumped right hand.

"Fire!"

I stared with bated breath as the arrow was shot, flashing through the air with a smooth friction.

For an instant, the world stopped spinning, and I was lost in a moment that seemed so long.

My eyes were glued to the arrow, feeling the tension that overcame me like a bow string being pulled to its tightest point.

It was over... The vision would be mine.

The arrow traveled at an astonishing speed, piercing the air with perfect precision.

The sunlight blooming on the eastern horizon cast shadows that drifted along the arrow's journey, adding a magical aura to the series of movements that occurred in that instant.

However, the arrow stopped for an instant in midair. It did not pierce into the young man's body, but rather froze before it touched him.

It was as if the arrow was caught by an invisible hand.

At this moment, I confusedly felt that there was wind surrounding the young man's body.

He looked down. Then looked up. Stared at us. Pointed a pistol-shaped finger, and said:

"Bang!"

I stared in astonishment as the herd of Treasure Hoarders, my comrades, suddenly fell one by one like dry leaves swept by the wind.

There was a resounding rumble, as if nature itself shared in this unexpected event. However, no gunshots were heard, no weapons were seen, only an eerie silence enveloped the scene.

I observed carefully. Staring at the young man. The look on his face was pitiful.

Did you do it?!

My goosebumps rose. My body felt stiff, and my chest was pounding as if trying to escape from a threat. Death.

"Attack him!!!" shouted one of the Treasure Hoarders.

My heart thumped loudly as I watched my comrade advance valiantly, bringing his sword steadily down on the terrifying figure before me.

Their steps were firm and steady, I could feel the courage and determination burning within him, even though I myself was still paralyzed by fear.

Dejectedly, the young man suddenly pointed his finger at the Treasure Hoarders who were approaching with sure steps.

At this moment, the arrows that had been standing still in the air suddenly spun around and shot towards them.

In an instant, thunderous sounds and the clattering of falling bodies filled in, creating a scene filled with chaos and suffering.

Their blood splattered everywhere, creating a gruesome painting on the ground.

I stared with my eyes wide open, speechless.

At that moment, my eyes felt heavier and heavier, as if they were weighed down by a weight that wasn't quite clear. My eyes were closed.

However, vaguely, I felt my body start to move in an uncertain direction, moving without a clear direction.

I'm sorry Cavendish... he's going to kill you.
