A red carpet lined the way from the stairs to a massive door. Liam walked along the carpet with the maid, there were also cleaners following closely behind him cleaning the carpet with each step he took.
The size of just the lobby was massive in size, to a point where one could fit a football field in it. Along the walls on both sides hung paintings and windows the height of a two-story house. Chandeliers bigger than a car hung on both sides, but there didn't seem to be candles or anything that could provide any light on it, "How is the room so bright without any lights?"
"Our artificer was able to combine the bright spell with the chandelier".
Something else that caught Liam's attention was the stones in glass cases under the paintings. They were bigger than a head and came in multiple colors, each with a faint glow shining around them, "Essence stones?"
"Yes, they may not be the biggest in the kingdom, but they are some of the purest. Each stone has enough essence to power a king's scepter a hundred times over, but so far there is no way to use the stones to their full potential."
'I see, the book I read earlier did say something about purity but didn't elaborate.' "How pure is it?"
"point nine eight."
"point?"
"yes, all stone purity ranks from zero to one, zero to point three are considered normal stone or naturally colored stone, everything else above that is considered an essence stone."
Walking up to the door, Liam felt the pressure as it towered over him. Holding his ground expecting a gush of wind to hit him when the doors open.
"Over here sir."
"Huh? What?" Looking over Liam sees a smaller door just a few inches taller than him next to the massive door. A butler stood next to the door slightly bent forward and signaling to use that door.
Through the door was a cold night sky warmed by the orange glow from the building below. A carriage waited not far away, the maid opened the door as the coachman helped Liam in.
"The carriage will take you to the Rose Petal Inn, once you've arrived simply head inside and show them your ID. They will be expecting you."
Closing the door a whipping sound is heard followed by two horses neighing. Along the road there were still many pubs and clubs open, people could be seen walking down the streets drunk, ladies calling to the men walking by.
A few minutes later Liam arrived at the front of the Rose Petal Inn. Inside was a quiet and dark atmosphere, the main source of light was a gentle red glow around the place. Liam did what the maid told him to and showed the ladies at the front desk his ID.
"Alone?"
"Yeah? Should there be someone else?"
"No. But seeing as you arrived so late, we assumed you would arrive with someone else. Your room is on the second floor, third door on the left."
After Tapping the ID on a book, she handed the ID back to Liam and also the Key to his room. The key was what looked to be a usb stick, on it was the number 205 and a drawing of a rose petal. Roses stuck out of pots along the walls of the hallway, a light sedative could be smelled from them.
Liam walked into his room, on the wall was a box with a knob on it. Pulling open the box, a soft light shined out illuminating the room, underneath the light were a few colored stones. There was a desk and chair to the left wall and a neatly made bed with a nightstand to the right.
Jumping face-first onto the bed, a loud bang could be heard downstairs, "Oww!" The bed was not as soft as it looked but the blankets still made it better than the one from earlier.
There were a few items scattered on the nightstand next to Liam. A tissue box, bottle of lotion, and a mysterious box laid there. In the drawers, there were two towels and two sheets made of silk, a note laid on top saying, "Please keep the bed clean."
"Did I get put into a love hotel? And is that a pack of condoms?" Liam had mixed emotions but he didn't dwell on it for too long as what he was truly interested in was the book next to everything else on the stand.
Opening the book Liam was amazed at the sheer amount of skills there was but was also a bit disappointed in what the skills were capable of. There were also skills listed that had special conditions to activate, some had conditions to boost the skill.
While reading, one of the skills did catch Liam's fancy, 'Info view- no cooldown. Able to view the basic information of items and locations. Accuracy based on how perspective the caster is.'
"A skill that lets me see information of items and locations, this would be useful. But what does accuracy mean in this context?"
Skimming through the book a few other skills looked useful as well but something that confused Liam was the lack of spells, no fireball or healing spells, "I'll ask the guild tomorrow, for now, I should shower and go to sleep, it's been a long day. where are the showers? Or the bathroom for that fact?"
The next morning Liam woke up with sleep hair and morning wood. Beside him was a girl with chubby cheeks with some freckles sleeping in the covers.
Turns out regular showers are rare. The main way to shower here is with a magical showerhead made from artificers, but they are too expensive, so most inns don't have one. There are normal showerheads but most buildings don't have the space for a water tank, so they are also rare.
The only option for people who couldn't get a shower was to use the public bathhouse but those were still too expensive for some lower income families. Bathtubs take up too much space and getting water for it is about the same price as the bathhouse, so people don't get those either. The other option would be to use a clean spell, but most couldn't learn spells in the first place and hiring someone who could use the spell would just be stupid for them.
Liam asked the front desk if there was a free bathhouse somewhere or anything else he could do but to his surprise the Rose Petal Inn offered him a mage who could use the clean spell for free.
'The clean spell felt really nice, but it's awkward having to get naked in front of someone else. What was her name again? Yeah, Lisa.'
The sun shined through the gaps between the curtains, it was already midday. Horses galloped by, shops tried getting customers. The services offered here seem to be different in the morning.
"Awake already?" The lady next to Liam yawned as she sat up, the silk blanket slid down showing everything to Liam, her body was silky smooth, her lush blond hair flowed down like a river. Lisa crawled onto Liam's lap, wrapping her legs around him, "Do you have any plans today?"
"I'm probably going to go look for a guild."
"Which guild? There's the warrior guild, the thief guild, and the merchant guild nearby."
"Which one's the closest?"
Lisa started grinding on Liam while she was responding to him, "The merchant guild, but there's not many people there. The only quest they offer these days is flower gathering."
"That's fine, can you show me the way there?"
"Yeah I would love to but how about we get rid of this problem first before leaving."
