It was around seven in the night when the rain stopped falling. Raziel was sitting in the passenger seat beside Commander Carol in her car. She drove out of Red River District and was navigating her way towards Glaski.
She drove in silence for about an hour until they reached 16, Lois Edet Road.
Raziel spent all that time thinking about what they had discussed. He wasn't still sure he could fully trust her.
Tenebren looked so beautiful and peaceful at night. It didn't seem as if there were any undercurrents in such a peaceful city.
When they reached 16, Louis Edet Road, all Raziel could think of was, Wow!
He expected the Vice-Admiral to put him in a shitty hole but he actually got him a nice apartment.
It was a two bedroom flat. It had no garage or fence. It was among another row of flats along the road. The house was not painted.
Commander Carol got out of the car and put a cigarette in her mouth, "Rowland certainly went out of his way to give you privacy."
Raziel got out of the car and pulled his luggage with him, "If he put me in a public apartment, his enemies would find it easy to spy on me.
"He certainly doesn't want to make it easy for them."
Commander Carol went back into her car and smiled at him, "Enjoy your new home and be careful."
Raziel ran quickly to her side of the car before she reversed and drove away. He asked quietly, "You won't happen to know someone that goes by the name Maca Zahir?"
Commander Carol paused. She turned to look at him with a grave face, "How the fuck do you know that name?
"Look! It doesn't matter where you heard her name from.
"Just don't go anywhere near her. All those that have gone after her have mysteriously disappeared."
Raziel was surprised by her reaction towards that name. She seemed to fear this person.
She does not even fear Vice-Admiral Rowland!
He laughed it off, "I just read the name somewhere."
Commander Carol stared at him intently, "You just don't find the name of someone like her somewhere.
"If you want to stay alive long enough to see your sister again, stay off her radar."
Commander Carol reversed and drove off.
Fuck! What kind of suicide mission did Vice-Admiral Rowland give me?
Raziel thought in sadness. He pulled his luggage and opened the door with his ID card.
The Nicaorh government made it so everyone only use their ID card for everything making people easier to track.
He entered his new home. It was fully furnished. The sitting room had a three seater sofa and a large plasma television. He went to the fridge to see if there was food in it but it was empty.
I guess I would have to buy foodstuffs tomorrow. He went to check the two bedrooms. Only one of them was furnished.
I'll probably have to start paying rent from next month. I can look for a roommate to share the cost. He then left the bedroom to check out the kitchen. It was tiled like the rest of the house. It also had a lot of cabinets together with an electric stove.
He went back to the sitting room and carried his luggage into his room. He arranged the clothes and shoes into the wardrobe. He took out a book and a pen from his luggage and sat on his bed. He started to write.
First of all, I'll resume my job tomorrow. I should use my police authority to find out places where I can find a level 1 animal and advance.
Then I need to find out about Maca Zahir without attracting any attention. I should be very careful about this because of Carol's warning.
I also need to find out the true agendas of my 'two saviors'. I can't fully trust either of them.
Raziel tore out the page he had written on and burned it with cosmic fire. He cannot leave any evidence of his thoughts lying around.
Commander Carol picked up her burner phone and sent a message to an unknown address, "Raziel is in. For now, we watch as everything unfolds without interfering but if his life is threatened, step in and save him.
"I have to leave the capital for now. I can't have anything incriminating me at a moment like this.
"Also, kill Betty when you have the chance!"
