After pulling himself out of his meditative state, Torus pulled out his book once more, making sure to confirm the method of awakening before doing anything that may upset the flame.
Afterall, even if his memory was nigh iron-tight, he'd still rather not risk damaging something that currently rested within his mindscape before confirming he knew what he was doing.
As such, Torus took a moment to re-read through the book, once more confirming what he needed to do before dragging himself into his mindscape again. This time, it took him less than 20-minutes to find the cave, entering its depths once more before eventually finding himself before the flame.
Once there, Torus approached it carefully, not wishing to endanger his mindscape in any way.
Even if the book claimed the flame to be harmless, Torus would still rather not risk something going wrong because he chose to trust the book and it ended up being wrong.
As such, Torus took cautious steps forward, slowly approaching the flame. Once he had reached a distance of about half-a-meter from the flame, Torus cautiously reached out with one of his hands, placing it right on the edge of the flame.
He wasn't worried he would be burned, as this was his mindscape, he could be considered practically invincible within if not for the interference of an outside force.
Upon touching the flame, Torus was a bit startled as it suddenly moved, acting akin to a puppy as the flame seemed to jump forward into his palm, licking at his fingertips. Looking at this sight, Torus couldn't help but to chuckle as the worry he had been feeling dissipated, the flame seeming to be completely harmless.
Seeing as the flame was now within his palm, Torus chose this moment to pull some energy from within himself and slowly feed it into the God Seed.
Still acting in a manner similar to that of a puppy, the flame within his hand reacted immediately to the new source of energy, rapidly latching onto it as if a small pup sucking on its mother's teat.
Feeling the slight pull on his metaphorical 'finger', Torus could feel it as the flame worked to suck his energy dry, as if a vortex with no bottom.
However, this process only continued on for a little while, eventually the amount of energy became too much for the small flame to handle.
Pausing in its previous actions, the flame seemed to freeze up, unable to move. This lasted for but a moment before it seemed to snap out of its frozen state, the flame now billowing back-and-forth in a clear showing of excitement.
After a moment of this, the flame seemed to release a wave of energy of its own, the flame now doubling in size and turning a darker red color.
As this occurred, Torus simultaneously felt a warmth spreading throughout his body that seemed to originate from his forehead. While he couldn't actually see what had occurred to cause this warmth, Torus could almost feel it as a flame mark seemed to be imprinted in the center of his forehead, directly between his eyebrows.
As this flame mark appeared, Torus let out a shuddering breath at the feeling, closing his eyes in silent anticipation.
As he opened them once more, the space around him now appeared far different. Where before, Torus felt little-to-no control over his mindscape, he now felt an instinctual connection to the space around him, as if he could influence it with but a thought.
However, just because this was the way he felt didn't necessarily mean that it was true; in fact, Torus knew that even though he could now influence his mindscape, he couldn't actually control it at his current level of strength.
Even with this seemingly minute increase in his ability, Torus could feel the profound effects it had on him.
Where it had previously taken him days to learn how to perform a simple evolution to his tail, with the newfound understanding toward energy manipulation he had gained, Torus knew that he could now accomplish the same feat in a few hours.
As he understood this, a large grin split across Torus' face as he mumbled to himself, "It seems I'll be able to accomplish some of my more ambitious goals far faster than I previously anticipated!" He exclaimed, a brilliant light shining within his eyes.
Even now, Torus could feel a multitude of new ideas flitting through his mind, his new understanding of energy manipulation and how energy functions opening a plethora of new doors for him.
Where before, Torus understood how to manipulate his energy but had no clue where exactly the energy came from other than his God Seed, and had no clue what impacts using it had on his reserves, he now understood these.
The truth is that the energy comes from the outside world, it isn't something that members of the Divine race are capable of absorbing directly into them like some other species can.
Instead, members of the Divine race need to gain an understanding into something, this epiphany then creates a sort-of gap in their mind, which can then be filled with energy.
This energy is then filtered into the God Seed where it is stored.
This is because the Divine race is not capable of holding energy within them naturally. Instead, they evolved God Seeds, something that they can use as a container for the energy.
However, while the God Seed is completely hollow within, it is semi-malleable and contains the ability to naturally filter in energy from the world on its own once awakened.
As such, when energy from the outside world is absorbed into it, the shape inside is morphed slightly from the change in pressure.
However, the amount of change to the internals of the God Seed can be directly correlated to the amount absorbed, meaning that the God Seed can then reabsorb this amount of energy once more.
What this essentially means is that energy manipulation is to take this internal pool of energy and use it for other purposes, which is then replaced over time as the God Seed slowly absorbs energy from the outside world.
While this may not seem like a big deal, it gave Torus two big pieces of information; one, his energy pool was directly correlated to how full his God Seed is, and two, any energy he uses doesn't need to be gained back through gaining understanding in his Aspect.
This was originally a rather large worry of his, as he felt constrained in his usage of his God Seed considering he didn't wish to waste too much of his energy.
Now that he knew the truth, he could begin to use a lot more of his energy for some of the experiments he was trying to accomplish.
One new thing he noticed with the appearance of the flame mark was that Torus now felt as if he had a new sense. And what this sense could do sent a wave of shock through him - he could now 'observe' the energy of the outside world.
While this didn't seem like much of an improvement considering he couldn't directly manipulate it, there were quite a few benefits that came with this.
For one, he could now spot natural-born treasures far easier than others as he could sense the changes in the energy of the world, for another he could now more directly see any mistakes he made in his energy manipulation, and for a third he could now see things such as sneak attacks much easier.
As he looked over all these changes, Torus could only now realize why exactly this family trait was viewed as such a big deal.
As he sat in a contemplative silence, Torus couldn't help but mumble to himself, "No wonder the book claims that my family are the ones to develop energy manipulation fields such as Imbuement, with such a large advantage over others, these accomplishments and pride are only natural." Torus thought to himself, slowly opening his eyes as he once more brought himself to the real world.
The first thing he did once coming back to the real world, was to move from his resting place, heading into his home and giving his parents a passing greeting before heading to the bathroom.
Once there, Torus looked into the mirror, trying to see what changes he had undergone with the development of his family trait.
As he looked into the mirror, Torus didn't really have to concentrate to see the reddish-orange colored flame that seemed to mar his forehead. It seemed to seamlessly combine with his other features, somehow adding onto his face in a way that appeared natural.
Looking at this mark for a second Torus couldn't help but to admire the beautiful red specks that were hidden in the flame.
It was as if he could see the meaning behind the red, signifying his deeper understanding into energy manipulation compared to the much brighter orange areas.
After spending a moment analyzing the newest change he had undergone, Torus once more headed back outside.
Once out in the yard, Torus reached into his chest to pull out his book again, this time opening to an all-new chapter. This chapter explained how he should go about training his trait.
Reading through it, Torus couldn't help but to notice that this was by far the shortest chapter, and after reading it he understood why. In truth, the way to train his trait was rather simple, signifying the short length.
All he had to do was to practice his energy manipulation as well as gain insights into paths of energy manipulation such as Imbuement or Enchanting.
Aside from these two ways, there was one more that made the most change to the flame; however, this way was by-far the hardest, and this was to develop one's own path of energy manipulation.
