Arriving at his destination, Torus looked up at his house for a moment, before his gaze shifted to a specific spot. The area he was looking at was the backyard of his home; specifically, it was the spot where Torus had set up his workstation.
And as he looked at this area, Torus' eyes seemed to hone in on the reason he had come here - the large trunk given to him by his parents. Considering this had rapidly become one of Torus' most prized possessions - not just because it came from his parents - but also considering the wealth of knowledge contained within it.
If there was ever any doubt in his mind about the truthfulness in Blau's words about just how powerful his parents were, these thoughts were quickly dispelled once Torus had seen just how useful the information within them was.
Truthfully, Torus almost felt that he really didn't even need to explore the outside world while in possession of these notebooks, they would allow him to rise to Godhood just through them alone.
However, Torus quickly dispelled himself of the notion of doing such a thing outright. He knew that even if exploration wasn't required for his growth, he could only possibly benefit from it.
Even his parents' notebook concurred with this belief, considering a large amount of the information contained within them came from his parents' own journeys and explorations.
However the reason Torus was alright with leaving the trunk out seemingly unprotected was rather simple - only he could open it. While the inscriptions were much too complex for his current understanding of inscription, Torus could at the very least tell that they had some privacy and blood-locking inscriptions to them.
As far as he could tell, his parents had used his blood from when he was a baby to essentially bind the chest to him, meaning he would be the only one to ever open it unless he encountered someone strong enough to destroy his father's inscriptions.
However, this was something Torus never expected to happen considering just how strong he could tell they were. Truthfully, in the entirety of the Astar continent, Torus highly doubted that there was even a single person of such that exists, let alone in this small village.
That was the reason Torus was so confident in leaving his trunk out in the open - he knew nothing would come of it.
In fact, Torus believed that the only reason Blau had been able to open the chest in the first place was that there was some type of subconscious inscription on the chest.
What this inscription did, as far as he could tell, was to scan Torus' subconscious thoughts, allowing those he wished access to the trunk. And even then, this seemed only possible while the person was in the presence of Torus, not when he wasn't around.
Walking forward in unhurried steps, Torus reached the trunk, pulling it open before reaching in and grabbing something from within. When his arm pulled back, what he had grabbed came into focus; this object was none other than one of the books given to him by his parents, this one being none other than the one on the family background of them.
Flipping the book open, Torus rapidly flipped through it before stopping on a certain page.
The page he had specifically stopped on, was the beginning of a chapter, the title of said chapter being, 'Family Inheritance of the Thrio Family'. This was the chapter Torus had last stopped on, the reason being that he wanted to give this chapter his full attention, something he felt he couldn't afford to do at the time.
Now though, Torus figured that he could focus entirely on this chapter for this last week before he left the village. Torus felt that, in that amount of time, he was confident he could make some decent progress in it.
As such, Torus took in a deep breath of air, beginning to read through the chapter, his mind steadying as he placed his full concentration on learning.
Welcome to whoever is reading this. Congratulations on passing the inheritance test, you can now be considered an official descendant of the Thrio line!
What being a descendant of the Thrio line entails is complex; however, the basics are the taking over of the Thrio sect, becoming the leader of all members of the Thrio family, and fulfilling the arranged agreements between the Thrio sect and any other families of importance.
Reading to here, Torus couldn't help but to wonder what exactly the history of his family really was. From what Torus could understand from his parents' letter, he was pretty sure that however influential his family used to be, they were definitely no longer as massive a figure.
In fact, Torus figured that his family must've suffered from some great calamity, and he even suspected that it was at least a partial cause for his parents current situation.
However, this told him little-to-nothing about his family, and the only information he now had to go on was this book.
Reading through this, Torus could only now understand that his family must've been similar to the clans in charge of regions within the kingdom of Veria, and a very high ranking one at that.
However, another thing Torus gleaned from this book was that his father actually wasn't the current leader of the Thrio family - he figured this out as there was a list of all leaders in order, his father not appearing on it whatsoever.
This led to two different thought-processes for Torus; one was that the testing required to become the leader of Torus was so stringent his father couldn't pass it, and the other was that his father simply never had the chance to do so. Obviously there were other options, but Torus just figured these two were the most likely ones.
After spending a moment pondering, being side-tracked from his original intentions, Torus quickly returned to his reading, rapidly flipping through the entirety of the 'Family Inheritance' chapter.
After thoroughly reading through it a few times to make sure he completely understood it, Torus couldn't help but to suck in a cold breath of air.
Looking at the words on the page in shock, Torus couldn't help but to mumble to himself, "No wonder father couldn't become the family head, aren't these requirements just a little too ridiculous?" Torus asked incredulously, his mind reeling in shock.
The exact requirements that had so thoroughly shocked him, were specifically:
To be eligible for the position of family head, one must inherit the family trait of the Thrio line.
They must reach 25% filling of their God Seed by the age of 50.
They must reach 50% completion of their God Seed by the age of 140.
They must become a God at less than 200 years of age.
However, to be considered to have completed the last condition, one must have filled their God Seed enough for the energy within to condense into a liquid state.
Reading through each of these conditions, Torus couldn't help but to feel an overwhelming amount of shock at these conditions.
To put it into easier to manage terms, the vast majority of myths of geniuses that managed to rise to Godhood simply stated their ages to be in the tens-of-thousands of years old.
What this meant was that, to even be eligible to be the leader of the Thrio clan, one must surpass these 'geniuses' by at least tenfold.
And even then, these were simply myths. As far as Torus knew, there were no actual recollections of those who had managed to reach Godhood, only second-hand stories from the older generation of the Divine Race.
What this list was entailing was simply unimaginable to Torus, and as he looked through the list of names of previous leaders of the Thrio family, he couldn't help but to feel astonished that so many had managed to accomplish this task.
And based on what was written in the text, the Thrio family wasn't the only one at this level of strength in the past, meaning there were even more families that had members that could accomplish this.
Choosing to move on from these thoughts before he went too deep and couldn't bring himself back out from the near-terror that the knowledge of so many God's existing would bring him, Torus turned to the next page.
What the next page contained was far more simple - it explained how to find out whether one had inherited the Thrio trait. Reading through this, Torus found it much more simple than he originally expected, something he could easily do right now.
The method to check whether one has inherited the Thrio trait, one simply needs to meditate inward similarly to how one might examine their God Seed; however, they instead need to focus on their mind space.
The Thrio trait is an entirely mental one, it simply allows for one to more easily control the energy from their God Seed and use it to bring about different effects.
While it is not well-known among the common people, the Thrio family actually pride ourselves on the knowledge that we are the ones to develop the different branches of energy manipulation, such as imbuement.
If one awakens the Thrio trait, they will find a simple and unadorned flame within their mind space, one that can be stoked through learning new things and utilizing it. However, in order to utilize it, the flame first needs to be awakened.
The way to awaken it is to simply place a large amount of one's own energy into it. This mass amount of energy will then be used as fuel for the flame, allowing it to manifest in reality.
The way this manifestation will occur is by adorning a flame mark between one's brow, the deeper the color and the more realistic the appearance, the deeper one has developed the Thrio trait.
Reading these words, Torus felt that this was simple enough to accomplish.
As such, Torus sat on the ground in a lotus position, breathing in deeply as he adjusted his state of mind to better align with meditation, before closing his eyes and entering a state of silence.
