Pushing the chest toward his son, Blau spoke up, "These items seem to be something private for you to view, you should take these to your room and open them there." Blau said, ignoring his own curiosity for the sake of giving Torus some privacy, understanding the intimacy this moment must hold for the young man.
With a shaky nod of his head, Torus picked up the chest with a small strain before heaving it onto his shoulder, moving with a gusto up the stairs. He could barely contain his excitement, wondering what these assortment of items could be used for.
Seeing this sight, Torus' parents couldn't help but to let out small chuckles, Torus' current appearance reminding them that he had just barely stepped into adulthood.
Reaching his room, Torus slammed the archaically designed chest down on his bed, lifting the top to reveal the items within before reaching in and grabbing the first one with a gusto.
The item that Torus decided to open first, was none other than the letter. There were two main reasons that Torus had chosen to open the letter first; the first reason was obvious, he had no clue what any of the items did and this letter would most likely help him to understand their uses, and the other reason was more personal, that being that the letter was surely from his parents and Torus wished to know what his parents wanted to tell him before even thinking of looking at the items they had left for him.
As he flipped the letter over however, tears began to slowly pool within his eyes as the words on the front came into view.
'To: My beloved son Torus.'
As he read these words, a wave of relief washed over him as a burden he hadn't known he was carrying seemed to fall off his shoulders.
No matter how little he thought it had impacted him and no matter how well his adoptive parents treated him, no child could truly get over the feeling of being abandoned, the feeling as if you weren't worthy of your birth parents keeping you. Seeing these words allowed Torus some form of closure even if he were to never see his parents after this point.
The words were written in a way where Torus could almost witness the sight of his mother sitting at a desk writing it, tears welling up within her eyes as she had a small heart-breaking smile on her face, his father standing over her as he placed a comforting hand on her shoulder, with the small figure of a baby version of him cradled within her lap, her offhand gently stroking at his hair as she wrote a letter to the future him.
Gently opening the letter so as to not tear it in any way, Torus reached inside with trembling hands before pulling out the contents held within. What he pulled out was a letter as well as a small pendant, which Torus placed within the chest, for now, wanting to read the letter first.
'To Torus Thrio,
Hello my beloved son, I hope the day never comes where you have to read this. While we've made preparations for you, if the danger we're in ever reaches a point where we can no longer care for you, hopefully that time will never come.
However, if you are reading this, it appears this hope has failed to come to fruition. If that is the case, the first thing that I want you to know about us and the only thing that truly matters - is that we love you dearly.
Your father is currently standing over me, too emotional to actually contribute to the writing of this letter at all. However, know that we both love you with all our heart and that nothing in the world can change that.
Besides our love for you, there are some other things that are important for you to know; however, these things matter little compared to this fact.
The first thing you should know is that, should you be reading this letter, we have most likely returned to our homeland. This land is so far away from where we are now that there is a very small chance you will ever meet us should we still be alive.
The next important thing for you to know would be what exactly it means to be a Thrio; even in our homeland there are very few people who know about the Thrio family, your father being the last known member of it.
However, all you need to know about this family, shall you choose to embrace it, is contained within the book in the chest labeled 'Family History'.
Another note of importance would be the family heirlooms contained within the chest; some come from my family, while others come from your father's.
The first one to speak of would be the pendant that came with this letter, a personal gift from your father and I to show our love for you. This pendant was the first gift given to me by your father, something he hand-crafted and imbued himself.
The effects brought about by this pendant are rather good for training, especially at the beginning stages.
Your father and I have seen the talent you have for entering meditative states so we know this pendant will prove invaluable; the effect it brings about is that whenever one enters a meditative state, it can drag you even deeper into it.
Some of the other items you should take note of would be the three books. As stated previously, one book contains the family history of the Thrio family and what it means to be a Thrio, another of the books contain the information on the crafting and imbuing of objects, hand-written by your father, and the final book contains information on how to train and utilize your God Seed that should prove useful in speeding up your learning.
Next would be the arm sleeves, these were placed in here by your father. While he says that these are very important, he really just wants to turn you into a musclehead like himself.
The effects of these sleeves were brought about by your father's imbuement as well; however, I was the one to sew them. These arm sleeves create a localized increase to the gravity of your body that can adjust to your strength.
What this means is that it will constantly pressure you just enough to break down your muscles, forcing you to constantly be building stronger and more dense muscles and bones as they form hairline fractures within them that will then heal.
Be careful of using this item however, as if you weren't lucky enough to develop some form of healing with your God Seed, this can prove harmful if you don't give your bones enough time to heal after use, even leading to potential crippling of future bone development.
The final item of interest that you should take note of would be the chest itself. While it may appear ordinary, if you were to imbue some of the energy from your God Seed into it, you would find it to be far from that. This item is what's known as a storage space, an item that can hold a large number of items within that you activate using energy.
This one contains a large amount of low-to-mid-grade materials within it, something that will come in handy should you choose to pursue the profession of a Crafter and Imbuer along your journey to Godhood.
Most of all, remember that we love you!
Love,
Reggie Thrio, and Diana Thrio nee Flare.'
Reading this letter, tears began to well within Torus' eyes as emotions bombarded him. These emotions ranged from grief at what was lost, to a deep love that he had only ever felt for his step-parents.
Feeling the love from the words, Torus wiped at his eyes, showing the determination contained within them. "Father, mother, I promise to find this homeland of ours.
And should you still be alive there, I'll meet you even if you're at the edge of the world; however, if you're dead, I promise to raise the land to the ground as retribution for what's happened to you!" As the words rang out, Torus' eyes were a deep bloodshot red, the primal rage and anguish he was currently feeling seeming to cause something to snap within him.
Suddenly, Torus felt as a wave of energy gathered within his God Seed, the connection to such a primal emotional state seeming to connect his mind even deeper with his Aspect, causing him to have another breakthrough.
And with that, Torus promptly passed out from the influx of energy, his hands still tightly gripping the letter as he fell face-down onto the ground, waves of bloodlust seeming to radiate off of him in waves even as he fell into an emotion-induced coma.
