Chapter 7 - Strange Rumors

--

Solanne was afraid to sleep. It was not like any ordinary dream she had before. She doesn't know the reason why, but there is something different, something out of ordinary on that dream. How could she be dreaming like this?

Was she stressed? The last time she checked she was enjoying her stay her. It was a vacation she needed.

Then why is that dream?

Afraid to even think of those things, even for a second, she hugged her pillow and busied herself scrolling through her phone.

She was that scared that she even grabbed the two cats and trapped them in her room for comfort. They were meowing at first, and Solanne was trying to convince them that this is only for this night. After a few minutes, the cats settled on her bed, and snuggle with each other.

Solanne watched for a while as they purr. There was something about these cats that she finds them very adorable.

As soon as they were settled in the bed, Solanne felt a sign of relief. She buried her face in the pillow and decided to read the webnovel she was reading again. Solanne kept on reading and reading distracting her thoughts.

After a while her whole body eased up. She glanced at her phone's clock: 4 am. She was feeling sleepy. Her body must be that tired that she didn't even notice she had already closed her eyes. Phone has slipped through her hands, and her mouth was slightly parted.

She was gently snoring.

The two cats glanced at her before snuggling with each other again. That time, they all fell asleep not minding any worries at all.

--

Solanne walked quarter pass nine. The cats were still there since she had closed the door last night. Their meows were the one that wake her up. They must be very hungry. Feeling a little apologetic, Solanne stood up as she grabbed her phone.

She didn't even comb her hair. She went down stairs with the cats and look for their bowls. Since they had been a good kitties last night, Solanne thought that she'll reward them with wet food for today.

Searching through the food, she found two pouches. She then grabbed their ceramic food bowls and prepare their food.

The two cats were circling on her feet and they seemed impatient for their food. As soon as she put their food bowls down, the cats happily dig in.

Seeing them happily eat, Solanne sighed as she went and make herself some coffee. She's very dependent on caffeine. Maybe that's the reason why she dreamed of those things last night?

Speaking off, Solanne scanned the place they were staying in search for Yael but it seemed like he's still asleep.

She wanted to thank him. Even if it was just a dream last night, his face was really… how should she even describe it?

She was really thankful.

And what better thing to do to thank him by making some food. Since she know that his cooking skills were definitely worse, she scrolled through her phone and looked for some good recipes she can imitate. In the end she decided to make some pasta.

Preparing the ingredients, she started cooking. She put a little bit of music; it was loud enough for her to only hear it.

It's been thirty minutes since she started cooking when she heard footsteps from upstairs. Yael must have woken up by now. She's almost done cooking too.

Grabbing two plates she tried to set up food, however the moment she looked up, Yael was already at the bottom of the stairs, looking at her. She blinked, meeting his confused gaze. Not wanting to make it a bit awkward, Solanne smiled.

"Good morning." Solanne turned back, for she expected that he won't be giving back any greetings.

"Morning," he answered back. Solanne was shock she almost stumbled. She must be hallucinating yet, she didn't try to ask. The soft music was playing on the background while Yael went to the kitchen and to prepare some coffee too.

Solanne was so stiff in the corner, as she contemplated if she should tell him about the food she made. Still, the air was heavy! But is she the only one who thought about that?

She glanced at his direction only for him to be casually scrolling on his phone as he waited for the water to boil. Should she just tell him?

The serving is too much for one person like her.

'Whatever!'

In the end, she decided to take risk.

"Hey! If you want," Solanne was so awkward, she didn't even look at him. "I made some pasta. It's too much for me, so if you want, I'll leave your share on the table."

"…."

Silence. There was an awkward silence and Solanne just wanted to be buried on the ground now. Not long, the water boiled.

Solanne wasn't looking at Yael and she can feel her heart beat pounding on her chest.

"Thanks. I'll eat it." She can hear the water and the clicking of ceramic cups. He must be making his coffee now.

Solanne was moved she almost cried in front of him!

Feeling her ears heat up. She swallowed and whispered, "Welcome."

--

Yael stared at her back. He was still confused from last nights dream as he made his coffee. In what grounds did he ever do for him to dream of her last night?

It was odd. Confusing even.

Still, he was woken up by the slight noise coming from the kitchen.

It's a sight he has gotten used on seeing these past few days. Her back against him, busy cooking. Moreover, the food she makes was delicious after tasting it last night. Besides, he can't forever eat noodles right? He's just a bit thankful that's all. That's the reason why he had returned her greetings.

Grabbing the cup of coffee he made he went to the living room and turned the TV on. He scrolled pass through channels and decided to play some anime.

He subconsciously glanced back at the kitchen.

There was a small smile on her face. She looked peaceful.

Yael sighed as he leaned on the sofa. subconsciously, his lips curled up.

--

The afternoon came and Solanne feeling tired from last night took a nap. Her door was slightly opened as she was thinking that the cats would join her.

Just like that, she slept peacefully, enjoying the afternoon warm breeze and the gaze of the sun.

Pass 4 in the afternoon, Solanne's phone started to vibrate. She grabbed it, and looked at the caller ID. She immediately sat on her bed, seeing that the owner of this cabin is calling.

Her first thought, 'is there something wrong?'

"Hello?" She answered.

"Solanne! Hi! It's been a few days!" The owners voice seems like the usual. Solanne's tensed body eased up. Yawing, She went back to bed, phone still on her ears.

"Is there something wrong, owner?"

A chuckle. "No. It's just that I'm wondering if you still have some food left. I happened to have some. It will be harvested by next week, I think. And there's also some meat here!"

Solanne smiled feeling the kindness of the owner. Her heart almost swell. "Yes, owner. Were happy to receive it."

"That's good! Though I do not have some transportation, you can walk here right? It's an hour an a half walk. Would that be okay."

"Yes, we do not have problem about the walk." Solanne thought. She'll be the only one going since she can't invite Yael and she even doubt that he'll be willing to be with her for an hour and a half. Besides, she does not mind walking after all.

"Great! Then, or right!"

"Is there something else?"

"I heard this recently." Solanne tilted her head a little, wondering. "Well, it's just strange rumors going around about being abducted by mythical beings."

"What?" Solanne frowned. She finds mythical beings a bit hilarious.

"Mythical beings? Like those legends or something?"

"Right." The owner chuckled. "Well, you see this province has a lot to offer, additionally to that, some tourist visits us because of those occult stuff. They feel like there's more history on this place than anywhere else."

Solanne smiled. Her curiosity is picking up something. "Would you mind sharing me some? Owner? Like, what are those legends?"

"Well, there's many things to begin with. Like do not stroll at night because there will be some dead people walking in the afterlife. Some people even talk about the sea as one of those who lead the dead to their resting place."

Sea? The one she went before?

"Ah, there's more, they even think that fairies exist in this place. One tourist said that she saw a glowing human inside the forest before. You see the forest at night can be mysterious."

"She was dress in an odd fashion but she was extremely beautiful. Others call it gods. You see we have different belief here. We have gods we worship and that being said, most of the towns people will say that a god was living among them. That's why this province is full of grace and bountiful."

"It's amusing, isn't it?"

"There's a legend that these gods are bored and they decided to take a form of human. They meddle on their lives bring fate to them."

Solanne raised her brows.

"Ah, have you heard the legend of a living cabin?" The owner's voice mysteriously toned down.

"Hmmm?"

"They said it gives people dreams. And make their wishes come true. Have you heard about that?"
