Chapter 33 - CH033

Lu Fan looked at the signboard on the new venue as a new sense of accomplishment washed over him.

This was a feeling like no other.

When he made his first dollar and helped his mother settle some of her bills, he felt excellent and accomplished but it was nothing like this. Even when he set up META, he did not feel the same way he was feeling right now.

The building in front of him was the one that he was going to use for the school that he had promised Chen Lu to set up.

Well, it was still new and there had yet to be any faculty or students for that matter, but that did not trouble Lu Fan in the slightest.

Just looking at the METAcademy Vocational School signboard was enough to make him feel fresh all over. It was a very unusual sensation that Lu Fan himself did not understand.

"This is just the beginning."

Lu Fan walked into the building and started inspecting. The building itself was a flat that was originally built with expansion in mind. The owner thought that the town would continue expanding, so he built this place for renting out to businesses, but the expansion never came.

This left the building in a rather awkward position. It was right at the edge of the city center, but not so close that anyone would want to put their business there. I mean, there was hardly any traffic. But it was too conspicuous for anyone to live there and use the place as a residential building.

The design itself was originally meant for a shopping center and it looked more like a mall than anything.

Lu Fan could see that the building could be renovated into a residential building, but what was the point? Not many people would stay in such a place if they could help it.

It was however a very good place to set up a hotel. But the money required to do so was too astonishing. Lu Fan was sure that the owner did not have that sum if he even thought of such an idea.

Well, even if he did, this town was out of the way and hardly got any new visitors and tourists. If anything, the flow of visitors had only increased recently with META being opened here.

There were people traveling from all over the country just to come and work at META. It helped that META did not look at certifications when giving jobs and only cared about capabilities.

Li Lin did a decent job filtering through all those people, but it was starting to get out of hand. That was one other reason he was not worried that the school would not have students apart from those working for his mother.

"Who would have thought that I'd be a principal even before graduating from high school?"

While it said on paper that the school belonged and would be managed by Chen Lu, everyone knew that he was the one in charge.

That was the upside and downside of living in a small town.

He was not worried that someone would use this as a means to cause trouble as the school brought more benefits to the town than anything else.

And with his track record of setting up one successful venture after another, there were people who'd protect him even before trouble reached his door.

You should have seen how enthusiastic the Minister of Education was when helping him expedite the registration process.

The METAcademy platform was already up and running and it was already showing good results, and now that he wanted to set up a METAcademy Vocational School, there were others more optimistic than he was.

"Now, what to do with teachers?"

It was fairly easy to get teachers, but Lu Fan wanted the best of the best.

I mean, there were fields that could be overlooked and they did not necessarily need that good a teacher, but there were other fields that required the best.

He had money anyway, it would be foolish not to use it. His own satisfaction aside, the success of METAcademy was bound to open new doors for many including himself.

College was around the corner and it would be great if he could just enroll over at his own school before going to college.

He had skills that would help him if he got certified and had a paper trail of acquiring such skills. But that also meant that he would have to equip METAcademy with the required resources to enable the institute to teach said skills.

Something like his programming skills. It was foreseeable that some people would try to get to the bottom of how he became so good given the things he planned to make in the future.

Hell, the META platform was enough to attract attention even before the METAcademy platform went online.

After the results of the entrance exam were out, it could be seen that the platform and its creator would receive extra attention from everybody. Lu Fan wanted to have someplace he could point to and transfer some of the heat.

Aside from all that, it was a good place to make friends.

Lu Fan was so capable that it was scary. The technology he held was enough to make some people green with envy and greed and it was not impossible for some to resort to unsavory methods.

Lu Fan was most scared of this.

Chen Lu was by his side and there were now others that he needed to worry about.

An Xing'er and Xu Ling'er for one were people that he could no longer overlook.

This was especially true after feeling them up for a while now. Li Lin was the same, but Lu Fan decided that it was best not to think too much about her.

Her family was powerful but her father had some daddy and mommy issues of his own. Lu Fan could not find a way to intervene.

Of course, it would have been a totally different story if Li Lin had come out and asked for help, but Lu Fan found it difficult to burg in and start telling their family what to do and what not to do.

Lu Fan did not want them to be targeted because of things that he had in his hands. That is why he wanted to be a hidden online tycoon. But it was proving to be impossible to hide that deeply.

Instead, it was better to give people a place they could go to and get all the knowledge and technology that he was using.

That is what METAcademy was for. To share the things in his hand in an open and above-board manner, while still controlling everything.

At that time, people would take the initiative to protect him from those characters with more than necessary thoughts.

Hell, if he did a good enough job, even the national government would have to be careful as other governments would not allow them to monopolize his knowledge.

It was not that he was not patriotic enough, but he had read a lot of novels where politicians and other officials did some nasty shit just for power. While unrealistic, it didn't hurt to be a little extra careful.
