Chapter 22 - CHAPTER 22 – Survival Plans.

Haru was sitting in the living room of the Takagi mansion with all of his group members and Yuriko, though Alice and Kenji were not there. Alice was feeling sleepy, it seemed that she didn't get a good sleep at night, so, Kenji took her to bed in the room that the maid ordered by Yuriko led them.

They were sitting there talking about whatever they had experienced and why they couldn't come here on time and also about the information they had gained. At first, Yuriko was surprised to know that her daughter could control or tame beasts.

Still, then she became proud and fondly patted Saya's head, this time Saya was back to her tsundere behaviour so she shoved Yuriko's hand away from her head, thus prompting a chuckle from Yuriko.

Everyone was surprised when they heard something that Yuriko said. She told them that it is not always the case that the person bitten by a zombie becomes a zombie, if the person is strong enough to oppose the berserk mana that had entered his body and remove it then they might be able to stay safe.

She said that a member of the right-wing, Tetsutarou Doi was bitten by a zombie but he said that he could fight with the berserk mana inside his body, but they didn't believe it. After listening to him constantly saying that he would not become a zombie, they decided to tie him to a chair and wait and see what would happen.

They were surprised when even after one hour there were no changes in his body, no pale skin, no canine elongation, no veins showing on the body and neither eye turning black. So, they believed that if you are strong enough then you might be able to live even if bitten once, but they didn't want to take the risk of testing their hypothesis so they have yet to know for sure.

"I see, so that must mean that if you can remove the berserk mana from your body, then you will be fine...." Haru said and showed a fake look as if he was in deep thought and no one disturbed him neither did someone mention Hisashi's case since they didn't know about this thing at that time and they saw him almost turn into a zombie, Hisashi would have at least voiced out if he felt that he would be fine like Tetsutarou but he didn't.

So, they simply left it at the back of their mind though if they knew that Haru could have easily saved him then it would have been a different matter.

They continued talking after seeing that Haru was still in deep thought, maybe thinking about how to make better use of the situation. Then Yuriko heard that everyone had a talk with their parents and she felt happy knowing everything was fine but saw Haru making a strange expression at the mention of their parents, she hesitantly asked.

"Are you parents…?" She didn't have to complete her words as Haru answered her before she could.

"No. No, they are fine." He said causing her to sigh in relief but she asked again.

"Then, what's the problem?" She asked as she knew Haru would not have shown that face if everything was fine. Her question caused everyone including Saeko to look at him as they also felt that Haru was not satisfied even after he talked with his parents.

"Well, a soldier from the army took them together saying that the government is making a shelter there. I didn't have a problem as long as it was only the army, but they are also politicians there, and you know how they are." When Yuriko heard Haru's words she nodded and understood why he was worried as Politicians can be very very evil sometimes.

"And I don't even know if they were forced, threatened, blackmailed or they willingly went along with them because I know my parents and they would not want to leave the place until they know that I am all right. I know for sure that my mom must have protested, but I don't know how it went along."

Haru continued and even his group members started to understand the gravity of the situation, looking at their faces everyone except Takashi somehow felt that the Government might not be as good as it seemed, even Rei.

"Didn't you talk with Uncle? What did he say?" It was Rei who asked this, even though she already understood some things.

"He did say that everything is fine, but I have yet to talk with Mom as I know she will not hide anything. Dad might be saying everything is fine just to not make me worry." As Haru continued, everyone started to worry about their parents again since the same thing might be happening to their parents. When Haru saw the situation, he quickly added.

"Still, nothing is sure. It might just be me overthinking, they might be busy fighting zombies or the situation might have compelled them to take the steps they took. So, let's not think about it." His smile and cheerful voice again made the girls and the lady a blushing mess, while the guys also didn't feel that down anymore.

"So, how's the situation here?" Haru asked Yuriko after everyone had calmed down.

"Don't even ask," Yuriko sighed and continued, "The dead are one thing, but we have to keep an eye on the people we rescued as well. They keep trying to say that we should try to save the dead as they have just gotten drunk on the power they got and they are not dead."

Listening to Yuriko's words Haru felt that it was the same as the canon, the only change that had happened was the skills and abilities that everyone had. It was different for the group though, as they had seen how the world had become and what the people had become not to talk about the zombies and here the people who were being protected and carried like baggage, thought that the world was still all right.

"It's all right. I already have a solution for that, and there is someone among them that can be used to make the situation positive." Haru said with a smile while looking towards the direction where the refugees were staying as if he could see through the walls.

"Who is it?" Yuriko asked and Haru just smiled and didn't say anything. This was enough to make her understand that she was not getting any answers right now.

"Is there any other problem?" Haru asked again causing Yuriko to hesitate while looking at the members of the group since she felt they would not take the news nicely.

"It's all right. They are not just some small kids anymore; you can say it." Haru assured Yuriko when he saw her hesitation, Saya also nodded her head since she also wanted to know what was happening. In the end, Yuriko just sighed and spoke.

"It's the supplies and electricity. Even if we can gather supplies when they are about to run out the same can't be said for the electricity." Yuriko sighed again and Saya also went into deep thought as she also knew this problem was going to occur.

"Oh, it's just that. You worry too much; I saw someone who can help us with that and he is from the right wing." Haru said while relaxing his back on the sofa. But Yuriko and Saya wouldn't let him relax since they wanted to at least know his plans about this.

"Who is it? And how do you know for sure?" Saya asked with frowned brows, she really didn't like his mysterious side but still loved him helplessly.

"Matsudo Ichijou, for your first question as for the second," He pointed at his eyes causing everyone to look at them and they saw it shining a little as if it had stars in them. "Let's just say that my eyes can see much more than a normal person."

He might not have told them what his ability was, but just mentioning the eyes caused the smart one to understand what it was.

"You have an inspection ability?" Yuriko asked with some surprise since she thought he might have awakened some kind of fighting ability, but before she could think of anything Haru answered her question.

"It might be one of my abilities, who knows?" He said with a mysterious smile and even though he looked very good, his smile somehow caused them to get annoyed, well, everyone except Saeko, Shizuka and Kazuki.

"Wait. That means you could see our abilities from the start?" Suddenly Rei asked as she felt like she had been tested and fooled the whole time. Haru just smiled and didn't say anything but it was enough for some to understand the meaning.

"Huh? Then why would he ask us about our ability?" But Kohta didn't understand that much so he simply asked what came to his mind only to be glared at by Kazuki as she also understood Haru's intentions behind that action.

"Just think of it as a way of me checking how much trust all of you had in me," Haru said seeing that the situation might turn bad, and everyone now understood the meaning behind his action.

However, Takashi was thinking about what would have happened if he had not answered his question, well, let's see if he will get his answer anytime soon.

"So, what are your plans after this?" Yuriko asked Haru after some time.

"You are asking me that?" Haru raised a brow at that question, wasn't she here from the start, so, she must have planned something right? But looks like she didn't.

"Well, the right-wing members did all the hunting and we thought it would be better to wait for you to come as I am a little lacking in the action department." She replied in an awkward tone and Haru spoke before the situation got more awkward.

"Then we will first gather some supplies from any nearby store or mall, and after we have gathered enough, we will start search operations for people including but not limited to Takashi's mother. As for the electricity supply, I will go and discuss this matter with Matsudo." Haru explained the plan briefly and they nodded their heads but Saya hesitantly asked.

"What about the government? What do we do if they approach us?" Hearing her words everyone looked at Haru for an answer as they also had this question but didn't know how to ask.

"Let's treat them as we should treat them for now, as we are still not sure about them. But you all are permitted to take drastic action if the situation is called for and it is not good to show sympathy or trust to someone we don't even know well, remember that." Haru thought for a while and explained the approach they should take against the army or government.

However, he looked towards Rei, Shizuka and Takashi when he said the last words since he knew they were the ones who were most vulnerable towards the people who use other people's sympathy to their benefit. Everyone nodded their head while Rei and Shizuka lowered their head, as for Takashi, Haru didn't even spare him a glance after saying that.

"All right everyone, get some rest. We have a lot of zombies to clear in the evening." Haru clapped his hand and said and everyone stood and moved towards the rooms they were led to, except Saeko, Saya and Yuriko along with Kuroneko.

"Do you have a mask?" Haru asked Yuriko and she nodded, took out a mask from the drawer inside the table and gave it to him. She knew why he asked for a mask as she was also thinking of making him wear a mask. "Thank you." He said after wearing the mask.

"You don't want to rest?" He turned towards Saya and Saeko and they shook their heads, he then patted Kuroneko much to her delight and then continued, "Then don't come whining to me when you get tired in between killing the zombies." He said with a teasing smile and even though he wore a mask they felt they could see that annoying smile.

"You say like you won't be the one who comes running to save us when we are in trouble." Saeko also gave a jab in response Haru just smiled helplessly accepting his loss causing Yuriko, Saya and Saeko to chuckle.

"Where is John? I want to talk to him." Haru said to Yuriko after a while and she nodded and stood up.

"Follow me." Haru, Saya, Saeko and Kuroneko followed behind her as she took the lead towards one of the tents on the ground in front of the house, though this tent had many wires connected to it.

John Walker better known as 'Virus' in the right wing, used to be local to England and he came to Japan with his friends just to have some fun. He was a normal writer upfront, but he was a very talented hacker in the dark, he took many commissioned jobs and did what was asked for, and he had a record of never failing any of his tasks.

Who would have known that his trip to Japan would end up like this since he was arrested by the police on a false charge put on him by his friends who stole money from a bank? He was arrested and locked up in jail for some time and at that time Haru who saw potential in him freed him on the condition that he worked for the right wing.

John accepted at first but he tried to run away on many occasions only to be caught again, in the end, he just accepted the fact that he couldn't run away from them. It was when he accepted his fate did he realised that he was living better than ever, here he gets money, he gets the best computers, he could do any kind of hacking without having the fear of being caught and many more.

So, he started living as a member of the right-wing, managing their data security and also getting classified information about their targets. He was trying to run away at the start because he heard that the right-wing fights and kills people but when he accepted his fate, Haru came to him and said, 'You just need to think cyber and focus on it, you are to never worry about fighting physically as I am here for that.' He felt like he really got the best job he could ask for.

Right now, Haru was going to ask him if he still had access to the government's server.
