The banging at the door was getting maddening, but Abel forced himself to ignore it. He had to utilize the momentum he had established before things broke back into chaos again.
"Now I am going to ask you some questions which I want you to think about hard, alright?" Abel went on.
He had to raise his voice a little from the whisper to a hushed murmur to counteract the growing noise.
Hilsa, however, appeared to have heard him clearly. She slowly nodded.
Great.
This was what Abel was trying to achieve. The goal was to get her calm enough to be able to do some deep thinking.
True, it was all out of fear and not a willful decision, but it mattered little. Her mind's fight-or-flight mechanism would be triggered, and recognizing her situation, it would see that the logical path was cooperation.
There was another advantage to this... the shock from sudden, intense fright was no different from being hit by raw electric volts.
