Sister April Brooks looked at her nephew as if the question was a personal insult.
"Of course not, Abel... she wasn't like that."
Abel felt a disappointment.
He had hoped that perhaps his auntie could have some details that would help him find his father… not out of any love or longing. No, it was just plain curiosity.
It, however, appeared that even the miraculous apparition of his mother's twin could not help him with that.
"Well... and my grandparents? Are they still alive?" Abel asked, trying to change the weird tension his question had created.
Both Ben and Hilsa stared at him as if he was mad...
Abel knew why... I mean, even if they were, he had just been told of how viciously they observed their religion.
It had made them cut off one of their twin daughters completely, without even caring what the other one felt. Why would he want to be a part of their life?
