The plan was hastily laid, and Abel stood up, ready to leave the house. Ben still looked mesmerized and kept stealing glances at Hilsa.
For a second, he thought about calling him aside just to give him a heads-up on Hilsa's situation. After all, he was leaving the two of them together in the same house.
True, Hilsa hadn't relapsed since the last time in LA, but Abel had spent every day in preparation, knowing well that there was a chance it might happen again.
It would at least do to warn Ben.
He, however, decided against it.
Abel was quite aware that Hilsa didn't like her condition, and she had been going out of her way to prove to him that she was regaining control.
If he did that, no matter how noble his actions, it would likely come across to her as a lack of trust, which would amplify her depression, making her more aware that he still thought of her as a sick person or a liability.
