Abel did not even bother coming out of the cab… from where he was, he could see two little boys playing with a dog on the front porch.
For a sec, he thought that maybe he had given the wrong address. The familiar layout, however, made him sure he hadn't.
I mean, it was still the same house, except now the old washed-out look was no more. The paintwork looked freshly done and the lawn that had once looked neglected was now immaculate.
There was a new and lively energy to this place that had been missing all those months back when he had come to check on Hilsa.
"Sir, is this the place?" the cabbie asked impatiently, seeing that Abel was not disembarking.
"Oh, aah sorry, looks like I got the wrong address," Abel answered as he snapped out of his flashback.
He did not have to knock at the front door to know that Hilsa's old house had new tenants.
