"No.." Adeline couldn't tell if it was reality or a dream. "Not again. God, please, not again. Please…"
Her body trembled and she bit painfully into her finger, to wake herself up were it to be a dream. But as breaking as it was, it was nothing more than reality.
Adeline jolted, the second the phone began to ring and with slow steps, she approached the phone, picking it up from the floor.
It was her father's number she was calling. But she was sure this wasn't her father on the other side of the phone.
Still, she built up the courage and answered the call.
"Adeline."
The voice was all too familiar, it made her heart skip a beat.
"D-Dimitri."
"Darling!" Dimitri laughed on the other side of the phone. "Did you miss me?"
"You sound like you're crying. Oh, common now, you're not doing so because of the video I sent to you, are you?"
