However, this time, the pain was much different. It was sadness—something in Caesar wanting to scream, just to let the feelings out. But he couldn't seem to do anything.
He was standing right in front of Adeline, staring at her unconscious body lying in her own pool of blood. This was not the sort of sight he'd ever wanted to see. Not with Adeline.
Was she dead? Was she still alive? Had he lost her like he'd feared?
Had he made a mistake by bringing her to the pack? Should he have kept her away all to himself with no threats surrounding her? Should he not have trusted her and done things her way?
Caesar's body shook, his eyes flickering rapidly with so much more than pain glinting in them. His adam's apple bumped as he swallowed hard, his body suddenly trembling as he dropped to his knees next to Adeline's body before the eyes of his entire population within the hall.
