"Mystic lightning bloodline and Innate Divine might," mumbles Kaeln, "I can infer what the mystic bloodline is, but what is this innate divine might?" An air of confusion clouds his face.
Noticing his obvious dismay, Old Dai explains, "When a child is born, he inherits his parents' bloodline. Normally, a child would inherit only the stronger parent's bloodline; consequently, the vast majority of people only have one. Besides bloodlines, a child can also be born with an inherent talent of his own. We call that innate divine might. Although divine might and bloodline are separate, one affects the other, hence why his divine might is a lightning attribute one. One born from a powerful bloodline is also more likely to have his own divine might because of the inherited talent."
As he listens to the old Daoist, the air of confusion slowly changes into one of clarity. "I noticed that the purple rays of thunder and lightning are similar to your qi, is it the same?" he asks.
"Yes, Raizel's parents are both extraordinary individuals with powerful and rare bloodlines; he inherited my clan's mystic lightning bloodline from his father," says the senior.
"No wonder," exclaims the young boy. His curiosity not yet satiated, he asks again with his bright amber gleaming eyes, yearning for more knowledge, "Can someone be born with two bloodlines?"
Surprised by the question, Old Dai raises his eyebrows. He suddenly glances at Kaeln and then again at Rai, his aged eyes shrinking into a light frown, a pained expression following right after.
Seeing the painful expression that he has seen many times on Old Dai's face whenever he recalls the past, the gleam in Kaeln's amber eyes slowly dims. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you recall painful memories," he says as he tilts his head down apologetically, but only for a second, before he suddenly raises it back with a conflicted expression. He asks once more, this time about something different.
"Grandpa Dai," he calls before unleashing a fury of questions, "what causes someone as powerful as you to have such deep regrets? Who hurt you to this extent? How can I help you? Does it have something to do with Raizel's parents and..." he pauses for a moment, Old Dai looks at him knowingly, expecting the following question.
As he prepares to pose the question, the boy hesitates. Afraid of the answer, but searching for answers, he takes a deep breath, fearfully, he asks "...and, does it have something to do with my parents, where are they, Grandpa Dai?" His voice cracking as he poses this two-pronged question, tears slowly welling on his lower eyelids.
Seeing the usually happy boy suddenly so emotional, Old Dai's pained expression turns to one of love.
Yet still not ready to give a clear answer, he turns and looks at the sky now completely dark, showing three giant moons, two grey and one purple, all three blocking an even more giant orange-yellow sun, casting their own purplish-silver shadows upon the true martial great world and illuminating the infinite void of space in tandem with its even more infinite stars.
"The vast majority of children are born with the dominant parents' bloodline. As women are hypergamous, they tend to marry men stronger than they are. This is true for weak women and maybe even more so for truly powerful women. This causes children to inherit their stronger fathers' bloodline. Occasionally, though, the parents are similar in strength, with the women's bloodline and strength almost equal or equal to the man's. The union of the two may, in rare cases, result in the birth of a child with both bloodlines, giving the child a talent that greatly surpasses his parents.
Generally, this happens when the parents are not too strong and their bloodline is not of high level and purity, so the increase in talent, though substantial, will not make children born from these circumstances too powerful. It may turn the children from talented parents born every 10 years into geniuses seen once every 100 years. While a great increase, in the innumerable years of the true martial Great world, and in the even more vast Flaming Sun star cluster, it is nothing worth mentioning."
He stops speaking for a moment and glances at Rai, whose situation has much progressed. Now, the majority of the tribulation lightning has been swallowed by the purple and the gold lightning, almost ending his cultivation.
Surrounded by gorgeous purple and gold lightning snakes, Raizel's originally very handsome face matched with his bluish-purple hair, creates an almost ethereal scene, commemorative of a god of thunder in his infancy.
Nodding at this sight, Old Dai proceeds. "However, occasionally this will occur when two individuals of world-shaking might with powerful bloodlines unite. The greater the power and the higher rank a bloodline is, the more domineering it is, decreasing the chance of cohabitation, as such, generally one swallows the other. At this stage, half a point difference in power is decisive, resulting in the slightly stronger bloodline destroying the other before it forms but…" he pauses.
Kaeln's eyes staring intently at him, having forgotten his earlier emotional state, now entranced into the stories of the infinite martial world, his heart of martial art took the reins.
Raizel, unbeknownst to Kaeln, has been listening intently ever since the old man started talking, raises his ears as if wanting to hear the rest.
He actually finished the tribulation before Kaeln thanks to his bloodline and innate divine might swallowing the tribulation thunder after having forged his innate meridians. He stayed in meditation to allow these new and mysterious powers to finish devouring and digesting the overflowing tribulation lightning.
"But sometimes an impossible balance occurs, maybe as a result of the weaker bloodline being slightly purer or its owner being slightly more powerful. This balance allows an impossible birth of a child with two immeasurably mighty bloodlines, as the child grows into a star-ending powerhouse, these bloodlines will slowly fuse into one, forming an immortal bloodline…" he says looking at Raizel, who has now opened his eyes, his beautiful irises, one purple one gold, both beaming with the same luster as Kaeln's, before continuing.
"Or in even rarer cases when the two bloodlines reach the peak, a transcendent bloodline." As he finishes speaking those two words, he glances, this time, at Kaeln.
"However, those situations may only happen once in a million years in a star cluster, much less a great world, like the true martial great world. It probably has never happened before."
