As the sun begins to set over the city of Uljin, casting long shadows across the rubble-strewn streets, I find myself huddled around a crackling radio with the other members of my shelter.
Suddenly, the radio crackles to life, and a voice emerges from the static. It's a government broadcast, the first we've heard in weeks, and everyone falls silent as we strain to hear the words.
"Attention all citizens of Uljin and the surrounding areas," the voice says, its tone calm and authoritative. "The government is pleased to announce the opening of a new shelter in the city of Donghae. We encourage all those seeking safety and security to make their way to the shelter as soon as possible. Food, water, and medical supplies will be provided to all those who arrive."
I feel a sense of unease washing over me as I listen to the broadcast. I know that the government's motives are never as simple as they appear, and I can't help but wonder what they're really planning.
