Chapter 2 - Chapter II: Father And Son

Morvan slowly approached the shimmering crystal, his curiosity outweighing any sense of caution. As he reached out to touch it, a surge of electricity coursed through his body, sending him crashing into the wall. For a moment, everything went dark, but then he slowly regained consciousness, his head throbbing as he surveyed the shattered crystal on the ground.

"What... what just happened?" Morv muttered to himself, gingerly touching the back of his head, which was now bleeding.

"I'm bleeding, stay calm, stay calm... I have to do something about this wound."

He ripped a part of his shirt and wrapped it around the wound on his head. He stood up from the ground, unable to shake off the strange feeling gnawing at him. Despite the shock, he found himself drawn to the broken pieces. Carefully, he picked them up, noting the lack of any electrical discharge this time, and tucked them into his pocket.

As he searched for an exit, frustration began to bubble within him. The only way out seemed to be the entrance, but it was too high to reach. He looked at the hole he fell from and saw the vines he tried to use to descend safely, which hadn't worked.

"Well, isn't this just perfect," Morv grumbled, eyeing the unreachable exit. "Guess I'll have to get creative," he muttered to himself, eyeing the massive height he needed to scale. With a deep breath, he began the arduous task of stacking bricks, one by one, his muscles straining with the effort. As he worked, he realized that brute force alone wouldn't be enough.

Gritting his teeth, Morvan resorted to breaking pieces of the wall with his axe. Each blow echoed through the chamber, sending reverberations through the ancient structure. The axe, sturdy as it was, began to show signs of wear from the relentless assault.

"This better work, or I just sacrificed the axe for nothing," he grumbled, wiping sweat from his brow. Determination fueled his actions as he continued to chip away at the wall, building a makeshift staircase to reach the distant exit.

After what felt like an eternity, Morvan finally reached the vines. Climbing them with cautious precision, he emerged from the depths of the tree, however, as he stepped outside, he was met with the unexpected sight of a pitch-black night sky.

"WHAT? I was in the tree for thirty minutes. How did the night fall this fast?" Morvan wondered aloud, puzzled by the rapid change in time.

Realizing the urgency of his situation, Morvan wasted no time in beginning his journey back to the village, he left The Fangwild, and climbed a nearby tree to spot the way to the village, he saw lightvng from a spot, which he assumed that were his village's lights.gt

After spotting the village, and descending from the tree, Morvan pushed himself to run faster than he ever had before. But as he neared the village's gates, he heard growling sounds, Taking cover in some bushes, Morv spectated from far, he saw a group of wolves following a creature he could not clearly see in the darkness, but he noticed its gigantic size, it was bigger than his house, while waiting for the pack of wolves to pass by, one of the wolves howled loudly, which made the beast get annoyed, it looked at the wolf that howled with its red eyes, and it killed it brutally.

"What is this creature, and what's with the gigantic size, and why the wolves arz following it..."

"GET BACK HOME BEFORE MIDNIGHT BOY"

Eamon's warning echoed in Morv's head, making him panic. Waiting until the pack of wolves had passed, Morvan cautiously made his way to the village gates. As he entered, he couldn't help but notice the strange looks the villagers gave him, as if he were a stranger in his own home.

"Why is everyone staring at me like that?" Morvan questioned, feeling a sense of unease settle over him.

"Do I... do I have something on my face?" he asked, rubbing at his cheek self-consciously, dismissing the strange looks with a shrug.

"Eh, probably just imagining things. Onward to home," he muttered, determined to face whatever awaited him.

Upon reaching his hut, Morvan's heart sank as he remembered his father's warning. Panic began to rise within him as he entered the hut, but there was no sign for Eamon, he searched the rooms, but Eamon was not there.

"Maybe he's in the workshop," Morvan muttered to himself, his voice tinged with worry.

Descending into the workshop, Morvan's fears were confirmed. Eamon was nowhere to be found, and his war axe, a symbol of his strength and resolve, was also missing.

"Huh, well, that's weird. Where is he supposed to be, then?" Morvan wondered aloud, his mind racing with possibilities.

Suddenly, he felt a presence behind him and instinctively dodged to the side, narrowly avoiding a swing that would have struck him from behind. As he turned, he was met with the sight of Eamon, his father, wielding his war axe and a copy of it engulfed in red flames.

"WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY HOUSE?" Eamon's voice was stern, filled with a menacing edge.

"WHAT ARE YOU SAYING? AND WHAT ARE YOU HOLDING?" Morvan responded, confusion and fear mingling in his voice.

Eamon continued to attack, swinging his axe and throwing the flame copy at Morvan, who dodged the attacks with a mixture of fear and desperation.

"WHATS WRONG WITH YOU, IT'S ME! STOP ATTACKING, FATHER! ALL OF THIS BECAUSE I CAME IN MIDNIGHT?" Morvan pleaded, his voice cracking with dread.

"Midnight? Wait, Morvan?" Recognition flickered in Eamon's eyes, confusion giving way to realization. "WHO AM I SUPPOSED TO BE OTHER THAN YOUR SON?"

Eamon dropped his war axe, the flame copy disappearing, and approached Morvan cautiously, as if trying to confirm that he was indeed his son.

"What happened to you?" Eamon's voice softened, concern evident in his eyes.

"Probably a HEART ATTACK BECAUSE OF WHAT YOU DID !" Morv exclaimed while still trying to process what happened.

"Not that, your hair, your eyes, they changed, and you're bleeding too."

Morvan rushed to a mirror to see his reflection, and his shock mirrored Eamon's. His once black hair had turned white, his black eyes now a deep purple, and he had gained a slight muscularity he hadn't possessed before, he was shocked, Morvan felt a surge of panic as his heart began to pound rapidly, but his father arrived and quickly calmed him.

After being calmed, Morv said:

"I think I know what happened," Morvan began, trying to make sense of the situation. "When I was in the forest, I heard voices calling to me. Being who I am, I followed the voices, reaching The Fangwild and beyond. I found a colossal tree, hollow and bottomless. I decided to enter, I fell, and found myself in a temple. In it, there was a crystal, a floating white crystal emitting light. I touched it, got an electrical shock, collided with the wall, lost consciousness, woke up, and made my way back to the village, I think that having physical contact with that crystal is what made my appearance change."

Eamon listened intently, then he asked:

"Did you bring the crystal with you ?"

"Yeah, but, only broken pieces, due to me touching it, it fell and broke"

"Give them to me"

Morv handed the pieces to Eamon, and he started examining them. After a moment of inspection, he spoke, "Aha, I got it. What you found, Morvan, is an Obsidian."

"A what now ?"

"It's a gem, a powerful one, full of Gala. It can be used to empower your abilities, empower your Gala, or craft weapons. It has multiple uses," Eamon explained.

"Gala ?" Morv asked.

"Oh sorry, you're right, i, you can think of gala like a source of power that stems from your body, Every living creature has it inside them, exept for plants of course. And they all come in different colors each with their own features, also, your gala color will be reflected on your eye, so i can confirm that your gala's color is purple." Eamon explained.

"Uh.. that's complicated, but it's understandable, don't qsk me how, but, why all the villagers eyes are black"

"They did not activate their gala yet, they lived a peaceful life for years now, and newer generations didn't have any life or death situations."

"So, i have powers ?"

"You can create techniques, such as THIS," Eamon demonstrated, he held his axe, and splitted from it a copy engulfed in red flames. "See? I call this the Gala Clone."

"You attacked me with this," Morvan stated, recalling the earlier confrontation.

"How was I supposed to know it was you?" Eamon retorted.

The moment was interrupted as a panicked man rushed to Eamon's house. It was Jolnhere, in a state of distress.

"Eamon, the Alpha, it's here..." Jolnhere's words hung in the air, a grim reminder of the danger that loomed over the village.

Eamon grabbed his war axe, determination etched on his face. "Don't worry, son. I'll be back in minutes. Stay here and DO NOT LEAVE THE HOUSE, This is an order." he instructed Morvan before rushing out with Jolnhere and other warriors.

Morvan watched them go, a sense of unease settling over him. He knew he couldn't stay behind; he had to join the fight and prove himself, to his father and to himself. Determination filled his heart as he followed them to the gates, without the notice of Eamon nor Jolnhere.

As Morvan reached the gates, chaos greeted him. The village was under attack by a horde of wolves, led by a massive, black-furred, double tailed, three red eyed beast—the Alpha.

"Isn't that, the beast and the pack of wolves that i encountered in the forest, oh no, i should've warned the village, this is all my fault." Morv blamed himself for the chaos that his village is facing, but he glared at The Alpha from distance, and said:

"You are my fault, and i shall fix what i have made, you are a predator, but you are my prey."

Eamon stood before the creature, his war axe at the ready, a look of fierce determination on his face.

"THE ALPHA... I WILL SLAY YOU HERE!" Eamon's voice rang out, a challenge to the beast before him.

The Alpha, sensing the threat, unleashed a ferocious assault. Eamon countered with his Gala Clone technique, creating a copy of his axe engulfed in flames. He leaped and charged at the Alpha, striking it on the back. The beast howled in pain and retaliated with a powerful swipe with one of its tails, Eamon parried with his axes, then threw the copy aiming on it's head, but he missed, due to the unimaginable speed of the wolf.

Morv, watching from the sidelines, felt a surge of adrenaline. He knew he couldn't stand idly by while his father fought alone, especially fighting what was able to be controlled.

The Alpha reached the point of annoyance, it opened a third eye on it's forehead, it was glowing red, looking at Eamon, as if it was staring at his soul, the cold looks of The Alpha paralyzed Eamon, he tried to move, but he was down on his knees, looking at the terrifying beast in front of him.

"Why isn't he moving, is he in trouble ? Damn it, what do i do, i need to give a hand.." he stepped forward, determination blazing in his eyes.

"This is how i die then, i would've accepted my death right here, but, i still have to raise that kid, i guess i'll have to do it.."

A giant cloud formed above him, and began to snow, as he began to say some words:

"In icy veins, dread takes hold, I am the Ice Spirit, dark and co-."

"HEY YOU, GIANT WOLF, WHY DON'T YOU FIGHT SOMEONE YOUR SIZE ..."

The cloud dissapeared, and Eamon looked at the source of sound, it was Morv.

"Morvan? MORV, GO BACK TO THE HOUSE!" Eamon shouted, but Morv was determined to help.

Ignoring his father's plea, Morv rushed toward the Alpha, he hardened his grip, with a powerful punch to its third eye, it was bleeding, and The Alpha collided with the gates.

"How in the worlds did you-"

"DID YOU SEE THAT ?" Morv recalled, adrenaline rushing in his vanes.

The alpha stood and rushed towards Morvan while he still was in the sky, but Eamon Jumped and cut one of it's tails, making it stop and howl in pain.

While The Alpha was distracted by pain, Eamon rushed towards Morv and pinched his ear, the said:

"What were you thinking about ! that beast could've devoured you in seconds !"

"I don't even know why i attacked, but i'm glad i did, i mean, did you see that punch ?"

"It was good, but fighting is dangerous, let me complete the res-"

"No, i must fight with you.."

"Morvan you're still a ki-"

"No, i wont just hide in my house, also... I encountered that beast in my way to the village, and i did not warn you all, i mist fix my mistake, and i must prove myself, literally the village's womans are fighting, I am a man now, and i must defend my home !"

Eamon glared at him, knowing that whatever he will say, Morvan wont listen to him, he sighed heavily, then said:

"You grew much, son, do you at least need a weapon ?"

"I'd like to fight bare handed." Morv said with confidence.

"You do remind me of my youth, don't you? now get to position !"

With a deep breath, The Father And The Son, charged towards the Alpha. The two of them attacked in unison, Morvan's punches landed with surprising force, while Eamon's axe cut through the air with precision.

But The Alpha Wolf was a formidable opponent, shrugging off their attacks with ease. It seemed invincible, its strength and speed unmatched, The Alpha attacked Morv, he tried to dodge but the speed was faster than his reaction, it wounded him.

Seeing that, Eamon jumped and kicked the beast on its head, which made it collapse on the ground, then he rushed to Morvan to check on him.

"Son, You alright? you are wounded.."

"Better than ever, enough about me, this beast it so strong, how on earth will we beat it ?" Morv asked

"We must try to find a weakness."

Morv thought for a second, and remembered that he saw The Alpha when he was heading towards the village.

"Got it."

"Tell me."

"While i was in the forest, i saw that beast heading towards the village, with the wolves, like it was controlling them, one of the wolves howled loudly, it made it get annoyed and killed that wolf, so it's weakness must be loud noise." Morv concluded.

"Alright, we must give it a try."

Eamon used The Gala Clone technique on his axe to make a red copy with flames, and gave the original to Morvan.

"We must go next one of it's ears, then we will collide the axes, it will make a loud sound, it will immobilize the beast, then you go for the final blow."

"Understood !"

As the Alpha loomed before them, Morvan and Eamon exchanged a determined glance, their resolve unyielding. With a nod, they both charged towards the beast, their footsteps echoing loudly in the clearing. As they neared the Alpha, Morvan and Eamon leaped into the air, aiming for its massive ear.

In a synchronized motion, Morvan and Eamon swung their weapons near the target, the axes meeting with a loud clang. The impact sent a shockwave rippling through the air, causing the Alpha to stagger and roar in confusion, and blood steaming from it's ears .

Seizing the opportunity, Eamon shouted, "NOW!" to Morvan, who was already in motion. With a swift and precise strike, Morvan brought his axe down, slicing through the air and cleanly severing the Alpha's head from its body.

The Alpha let out a deafening roar, its body convulsing as it collapsed to the ground, defeated. Morvan landed gracefully beside the fallen beast, his heart pounding with exhilaration, the other wolves that were attacking the villagers stopped and went for an exit. Eamon stood beside him, a proud smile on his face, as they looked upon the vanquished Alpha.

"Did you see that ?" said Morv, with the adrenaline of battle still cursing through his veins. "I literally flew towards that beast, and i chopped his head too, i can't believe that i was that brave, i mea-, father ? Are you alright"

Morv stopped talking, as his father was looking at him with a smile.

"You fought like a real man, i can't be prouder." Eamon said as he tapped on his shoulder.

Morvan grinned back, the weight of their victory finally sinking in. "I couldn't have done it without you, Father, your guidance was a main factor in our victory"

Eamon chuckled. "You were always meant for greatness, Morvan. Today, you proved it. But remember, true strength comes from here." He tapped Morvan's chest, over his heart.

"Thank you, for, everything" said Morvan with a tear dropping from his right eye.

"Hey Eamon! the wolves are leaving, i guess you killed The Al- wait, who's that ?" Jolnhere interrupted.

"Oh, uh, this is, Morvan, my son." Eamon explained.

"Hello Jolnhere." Morv greeted Jolnhere.

"Your son, hah! don't make me laugh, your son is black haired, this guy's is white!" Jolnhere mocked.

"No he is really Morv, he just, changed his hair color." Eamon added

"what ? it changed because of the Ob-"

Eamon glared at Morvan, so he understood what his father was trying to do.

"Ohhh, uh, yes, i died my hair white, and my eyes are just, infected."

"Oh, sorry Morvan, didn't mean to offend you"

"It's alright, anyway what should we do with that corpse ?"

"Burry it." Eamon and Jolnhere said at the same time.

The villagers came to them, and they were applauding them, they were given "The Alpha Slayers" as a name for them.

"Wait HE HELPED SLAYING THE ALPHA ?" Jolnhere asked in surprise.

"He is the one who killed it, also."

"WHAT ?"

Later that night, while everyone was sleeping, Morv stayed awake, thinking about what happened, and making his decision.

"Hey, Father Eamon, hey Father, HEY!"

"HUH, WHAT, WHERE ? oh, Morvan, why are you awake, it's three past midnight, get some sleep, we are going to work tomorrow."

"About that, i came to a decision, i want to leave the village, and start to discover the world."

"This is nice from you kid, no go to sle- Wait WHAT ? WHY ARE YOU LEAVING ?"

"As i said, "I shall venture the world in search of ways to unleash my potential ando mkae new allies, and i want to make sure that wherever i go, only peace lives there."

"If this is your decision, then i'll respect it, but what do you want from me to do ?"

"About that, i was thinking if you can forge me a weapon, a weapon in particular, can you forge me gauntlets?"

Eamon stared at Morv, with a mixture of surprise and concern. The request to leave the village and explore the world was unexpected, yet he could see the determination in Morv's eyes.

"Are you sure about this, Morvan?" Eamon asked, his voice filled with uncertainty.

Morv nodded, his resolve unwavering. "Yes, Father. I want to see what lies beyond our village, to discover new lands and make a difference in the world."

Eamon sighed heavily, the weight of his son's decision settling heavily on his shoulders. "I understand, Morvan. If this is truly what you want, then I won't stand in your way."

"Thank you, Father. Your support means everything to me," Morv replied, a grateful smile tugging at his lips.

"But before you leave, you mentioned wanting a weapon. Gauntlets, was it?" Eamon inquired, shifting the conversation to the task at hand.

"Yes, gauntlets. I got inspired in our last battle versus The Alpha Wolf, i would like to use my hands in combat." Morv explained.

Eamon nodded thoughtfully. "Very well, I can forge you a pair of gauntlets. But know this, Morv, crafting such weapons requires skill, patience, and dedication. Are you prepared for the challenges ahead?"

"I am, Father. I'm ready to learn and to become stronger," Morv replied, determination burning in his eyes.

"Then let us begin in the morning, get some sleep for now boy." Eamon said, demanding his son to get some rest.
