Avery stared in despair, not sure of what to do next.
Getting married to Don was not an option!
She was desperate to take any risk to be with the one who had given her life such a significant meaning!
While she stood still at the entrance, contemplating what to do next, she heard the beeping sound of her phone.
She looked at the screen and noticed that it was Don calling. She wondered why he was calling her at such a sensitive time.
Without wasting any time, she picked up the call.
"Hello, Darling. Were you allowed in?" Don went straight to the point.
"Ermmm... No dear. Though, I'm still hopeful. The security guard didn't allow me in, despite finding out that I'm a member of the Belle Spiralle Group. I..."
"Okay, I'll get back to you in a moment," Don interrupted as he hung up on the phone.
Hurriedly, Don began to dial a number.
"Don't tell me that my fiancee, Avery Torres, has been kept outside Exorus Empire up till this moment. If she isn't allowed into that company in five minutes, I'll make you lose your damn job!" Don spoke authoritatively, ending the call.
He had just spoken with the Executive Director of Exorus Empire, John Smith. Upon receiving the phone call, John began to fidget in fear. His hands fluttered with his fingers tapping into a restless rhythm.
Beads of sweat formed on his forehead as he rushed out of his office into the elevator. Within a few seconds, he was close to the entrance. How could his boss' fiancee be denied entrance into the company?
Whoever stopped her from entering was dead!
He had invested years of hard work, before getting to this position, and some idiot was just about to ruin everything for him!
With the collar of his shirt clung damply to his neck and beads of cold sweat still forming on his forehead, John approached the entrance.
Meanwhile, the guard on duty was surprised to see his boss looking dishevelled and approaching him. He wondered what the problem was.
The last time he had a face-to-face conversation with his boss was a year ago when he was first employed. There was no reason for such a high-class personality to have dealings with a low-class staff like himself.
Whatever information from the director was passed through the Public Relations Officer of the company through emails. So seeing the director come out to him was an indication that something was wrong.
However, before the guard could greet him, he felt three slaps on his face.
"Ouch!" The guard groaned in pain, still confused at the scene unfolding before him.
"How dare you keep Mr Miller's fiancee waiting outside?! You are fired!" John's voice reverberated in the air as he moved closer to Avery.
"Are you Miss Avery Torres?" He asked politely.
"Yes, I am," Avery nodded.
John quickly bowed in respect, "I'm sorry, Miss. I had no idea that you had been waiting outside. Please, accept my apologies and come in," he pleaded, leading the way; his shirt still drenched in sweat.
He hoped that Avery would be impressed and accept his apologies. If she didn't, he knew that he would lose his job!
Avery watched in awe, surprised at the scene playing out before her. Who was Mr Miller's fiancee anyway? Edward was not Miller, so who was the director talking about? Or had he mistook her for someone else? She thought.
Just a few minutes ago, she had been vehemently denied entrance into the company, and right now, the director was here, pleading for her to come in.
Avery was full of questions; however, she quietly followed John into the elevator.
As soon as they arrived at John's office, John ushered her to sit on a big sofa meant for special guests, while he served her some wine.
"Miss Torres, may I know what brought you to Exorus Empire?" John asked politely.
Avery decided to go straight to the point. What mattered to her right now was Eastel Holdings collaborating with Exorus Empire on the upcoming CSR project. Nothing more! So she quickly spoke up, "I came here as a representative of Eastel Holdings.
Please take a look at this," she said, dipping her hand into her bag and bringing out a brown envelope.
After John read the letter in the envelope, he smiled, "Miss Torres, we would be delighted to collaborate with Eastel Holdings on the occasion of our upcoming CSR project.
Asides from that, from henceforth, Eastel Holdings shall be shorlisted among the companies we would be collaborating with, for our upcoming projects."
Avery widened her eyes in surprise. She wondered if she was dreaming. How could Eastel Holdings collaborate with the renowned Exorus Empire just like that?!
Everyone knew that Eastel Holdings didn't belong to the league of companies Exorus Empire collaborated with. It was in fact far below!
So how could they promise collaboration with them just like that! It seemed too good to be true!
Without wasting any time, John handed over a signed letter to Avery and called his executive secretary to accompany her downstairs.
However, as Avery approached where she had parked her car, she noticed her elder sister, Avina, her brother, Jones, and a tall-looking gentleman with chiselled features standing beside a high-end luxury car.
The man was dressed impeccably in a designer's outfit, exuding an air of sophistication and charm effortlessly. It was Matt Forte, the son of Cena Region's Premier.
He had come to discuss potential business cooperation with Exorus Empire. Spotting Adina and Jones near a mall, he offered them a ride.
Matt mentioned to them that he needed to stop at Exorus Empire, and they agreed.
Upon seeing Avery, Avina furrowed her brows, puzzled at Avery's presence and how she managed to get into Exorus Empire.
If not for Matt, she and Jones couldn't be in Exorus Empire's premises. So how was Avery allowed in?!
Meanwhile, Jones was also surprised to see Avery. He immediately shifted his gaze to Matt, "That's my sister I told you about, "
And then he turned to face Avery, "Avery, what are you doing here?"
