My heart raced as I noticed a rest stop sign approaching. "Terrance, I really need to use the bathroom," I pleaded, trying to keep my voice steady. "Please."
Terrance glanced at me, his suspicion evident, but after a moment, he nodded. "Fine. But don't try anything. I'm watching you."
He pulled into the rest stop, parking the car close to the entrance. As we walked to the bathroom, he kept a tight grip on my arm. Inside, he waited by the door while I went into a stall, my mind racing with desperation.
I needed to find a way to alert someone. Quickly, I pulled a pen from my pocket and scribbled a note on a piece of toilet paper: "HELP. Kidnapped. Call 911. Dark blue SUV."
As I stepped out of the stall, I saw a truck driver entering the bathroom. I locked eyes with him and mouthed "help" as I dropped the note on the floor. He glanced down, saw the note, and his eyes widened with understanding.
